Basically, the entire game has reset back to the very beginning, but this time only Yzza, Kardus, and Layor remember because they're time travelers from the future.

Personally, I still like the idea of Meri transporting the inhabitants of the town somewhere else, especially to a new world. It means we don't have to go backwards and retread previous events, you could introduce some new locations and characters (if we're transported to another world it could even work as a way to introduce Viker), and it would add a quest line to find a way back and continue the main story (in the case of another world, perhaps we would find a way to freely travel between them). Heck, by adding a separate set of guardians in that world for us to find after we get the four of the main world the game's length could be practically doubled while also providing a feasible way to tip the balance in the favor of the heroes and break the endless cycle of mutual destruction. As for the Dark Lords, they would be transported to a separate part of that second world so as not to immediately cause another battle.

You know I've had this part of the story planned ever since the first fall of Terran, right...?
Plus, there's a sequel with a focus on eidolons planned anyway!
