Welcome to the continent of Florinsia!
Story
Long ago, the Great Dragons used to live with the people of Florinsia. The ten of them each watched over the lands. They appeared from another continent, far away. These dragons helped keep the lands safe and prosperous. The ten dragons each took a liking to their own specific lands. These became the ten countries that rule the continent. The Fire Dragon ruled over the forge, keeping towns warm and helping blacksmiths create the best tools and equipment of the land. The Water Dragon ruled over the seas and rivers, keeping the water clean for drinking and calmed it to prevent floods. The Sky Dragon watched over the weather, keeping a balance of the sun and clouds so neither drought nor heavy storms would damage the lands. The Forest Dragon kept the land fertile, helping plants grow and live. The Stone Dragon provided the ores and resources needed to build cities. The Beast Dragon kept watch over the animals living in the land, keeping them from destroying each other in a delicate balance. The Gear Dragon kept the creativity and ingenuity of the lands alive and strong. The Gold Dragon Kept the flow of trade moving and allowed for great wealth. The Death Dragon kept watch over the lost souls and helped to prevent the undead from rising up out of their graves. Finally, there was the Light Dragon. This dragon was in charge of keeping watch over the humans. They brought with them hope and peace. The dragons loved the towns they watched over dearly and blessed the family of their leader with their mark. So then it was that the dragons lived peacefully watching over the continent. Then one day, greed struck one of the families as they attacked another country. For you see, the mark of the dragon may provide you with great power, but it also can come with a great curse. If someone were to collect all ten of the marks, they would become stronger than the dragons themselves and gain all of their powers. This mark can only be gained in three ways. Have it granted by a Great Dragon, have another mark holder give up their power willingly, or take it by force, killing the holder of the mark. When the countries began to fight over the marks of the dragons, the dragons themselves went into hiding, escaping the wars. This caused the land to become weak, causing natural disasters, famine, and even allowed for the undead to walk the lands with powerful monsters. This continued to lead a downward spiral until we reach the state of this world to this day. Ten countries at war for the powers of the mark and resources. This desperate struggle continues to lead the countries down a dark path and it won't end until all ten of the marks are obtained by a single country.
Basics
So as you can tell from the intro, you'll be one of the leaders of the ten countries. This means you will be leading an army, either working to protect your land or attack other lands. The rules for winning this game are to either win from complete conquest or peace between all ten countries. You could also try a mix of both. Once you collect all ten marks of the dragon, either by force or by the owner's own will, you can advance to defeat the final boss in an epic battle. That's how you win. Now, obviously, you lose when your country is defeated in battle and your mark holder is captured/killed. This will mean that you are incapable of continuing to play. Sadly, there is no way for you to continue playing, but you may stay and see the results of the game.
Units
There are multiple unit types. I'll be listing them here with some details on each.
Ordinary Troops
These are your most basic troops. They are the least expensive and most common to get. You can customize all your troops to be whatever you want, but these will likely be the weakest members of your army. They can come in different varieties, however to fit certain situations. Like if I had an ordinary troop that specialized in land battle while another in sea.
Special Troops
These are more powerful troops, but still not the most powerful. They'll be more effective than basic troops and will often have special abilities or effects.
Elite Troops
These are the most powerful basic type of unit you can have. They will be more effective than both ordinary and special troops and can have a wide variety of abilities. They will cost more gold and be harder to get though.
Heroes
These are very special troops. Each army will only get one. They are the most powerful unit in your army and there can only be one. This will be your mark of the dragon holder. It doesn't necessarily have to be your commander, but it will be an important character in your army. These characters are very powerful and useful, but keep in mind that if they are captured or killed at all, it's game over for you. It can be a risky yet highly powerful weapon.
War Machines/Weapons
These aren't necessarily troops, but they will be helpful objects to make your troops stronger and more effective. It requires both gold and resources to obtain them, but they are well worth it. Ordinary troops properly equipped with good weapons and war machines can defeat special troops or maybe even elite troops with some serious tactics.
Upgrades/Research
These can help your characters become more powerful as well. Upgrades give your units new abilities and increase their strength, but only works for one type of unit at a time. So if I buy an upgrade for Ordinary Unit Type A, Ordinary Unit Type B doesn't get one. Research also works as a type of upgrade. It usually provides knowledge of some sort of tactic or skill. Like giving your units training in shooting accurately or something like that.
Battle
The battle system is very important when it comes to a game like this. You will have to find someone that is neutral to the battle to moderate it so there isn't a bias working for a certain side to win. The system will be a response and react system. The players will send in messages to the moderator for their attack plans. Here is the trick though. The defender won't know the attacker is attacking them unless some sort of defense system is triggered, the attacker tells them, or if the attacker finally strikes. This adds both advantages and disadvantages to attacking and defending. Attackers will have to somehow infiltrate the base of the defenders, but if they can do so without being caught, they can land a sneak attack on the enemy. The defenders can use this to their advantage as well though. If the defenders are notified that the attackers are in their base, they can effectively trap them within and wipe out the entire attack force. Anyway, the battles will move in a fashion where the players will send in their first set of movements.
"Attack Force A moves in to the east to attack"
"Defense Force B protects the east side of the base"
They will then get a response from the moderator then after the two different players actions are taken into play.
"Attack Force A strikes the east side of the base, but the defense force fights them back, defeating 100 Ordinary and 10 Special Units on Team A while defeating only 50 Ordinary Units on Team B."
The players then send in their tactics to continue the battle further.
"Attack Force A needs to pull back and retreat."
"Defense Force B will continue to move forward and drive out the attackers."
This will continue until the battle is resolved either in the base being seized or the attacker retreating. There are a few other factors to keep in mind about battles too though. Soldier morale and weather will hold a key role in battle. Soldiers are defiant to commanders they don't like and are more effective working for the commanders they like. Snow can slow down ground units and windstorms can slow down aerial units.
Shipments
This is the way you will receive your troops and equipment. Seeing how difficult it is to come across resources with the dragons having left, you will have to spend your daily income carefully. With shipments coming in from Tradesmith, you can buy new resources, equipment, machines, and troops. You will receive 300 Gold every day and can spend these among the many different things. Costs will be listed below.
Ordinary Troop - 1 Unit per 1 Gold
Special Troops - 1 Unit per 10 Gold
Elite Troops - 1 Unit per 100 Gold
Equipment - 100 Equipment Pieces per 1 Resource and 50 Gold
War Machines - 1 Machine per 2 Resources and 100 Gold
Upgrade - 1 Upgrade per 100 Gold
Research - 1 Research per 100 Gold
Wooden Material - 1 Resource per 10 Gold
Metal Material - 1 Resource per 50 Gold
Powerful Metal Material - 1 Resource per 100 Gold
Special Material - 1 Resource per 300 Gold
You may spend extra gold or resources on certain projects such as equipment or war machines to increase the effectiveness of them.
Capturing A Mark
A mark must be taken by another mark holder. So when encountering a hero, the only way to get their mark is to have your hero kill them. If a hero is killed by anything other than another hero, their mark is lost forever and it is pretty much game over for everyone. Let's try to avoid that. Once another mark is captured, your hero will gain a new skill. They won't be necessarily stronger, but they will be able to gain another ability. There is also the choice of an alliance where the game can be won by obtaining ten marks through peace. You won't gain a new ability this way, but with two heroes, you can be effective as well.
I believe that is everything. If you have questions, please ask in the Sign Up thread.
