Zargen looked down the long, dark path. He was willing to answer the challenge that the man in the square had been issuing to all commanders.
“Yiishla the Death dragon is the fiercest beast in all the land! Tame her, and your commander will gain quite the renown!”
A challenge like that couldn’t be ignored by the ambitious commander. He sought fame, power, and prestige. Yiishla promised all of that, but mostly, she promised a challenge. Zagren walked boldly into the path, with his two zap claws hanging at his side, and two titanium spear shields in both hands. He marched forward.
The clearing where the Dragon was said to reside was very dark. There was also a layer of mist covering the floor. Bones of Yiishla’s victims lined the edge of the forest, but the dragon couldn’t be seen in the intense darkness before him. Zargen stepped forward slowly, and a small crunch of the bones beneath his feet echoes all around. Suddenly, from the shadows, a massive pitch dark figure turns around. The eyes of the beast glows a bright purple, and scales lining her massive body have a single thin line of the same purple running down them. The dragon screeches at the intruder, emitting a bright stream of purple flames that hit a few trees behind Zargen. The trees slowly wither and die, turning a black, sickly color.
“Well that’s not good!”
Zargen jumps to the side, and leaps toward the beast with the full strength of his hind legs. He lands just inches from the massive beast, and Zargen slams the spike from his right shield into the side of the beast. The beast cries out in pain, as the spike remains firmly in the beast. Zargen uses this opportunity to swing himself onto the shield, using it as a sort of platform. He stabs his next shield in the same manner toward the base of the beasts neck. Zargen then uses his two Zap Claws, and begins attacking the beast’s neck, trying to land a blow that would cripple the beast. Yiishla is not amused, and takes flight quickly. Zargen holds fast to his shield that is pressed against the base of the neck and begins trying to attack the beasts wings. The beast is not affected by the current coming from the copper gloves, and Yiishla attempts to buck off the stubborn commander. Zargen holds on to the shield as best he can. After a few seconds, he finally gets ejected from the beast. He comes crashing down into the treetops, and sees the massive beast fly off into the distance. Zargen watches as the beast flies off, the two titanium shields still imprinted on the beasts side and back. He had made a bit of progress, learning that the beast was not impenetrable. He also learned that the beast was resistant to electricity, and breathed some kind of purple flames that withered plants and incinerated flesh.
“Death fire… That’s what I am gonna call it. I’ll be back for you, Yiishla. I will tame you.”
