The Legendary Heroes gather in the dark temple in the sky. This is the Dark Lords' base. Each of the leaders should be here. There are twenty rooms. Each with a Dark Lord inside. The group prepares to split up as Terra goes into Lupis' necklace. "This is the final battle with the Dark Lords. Good luck everyone!"

There are lots of explosions in the other rooms...there's also lots of explosions down below. Mog and Space can see the war going on below through the clear floor.

Mog sits down and begins playing chess with SPACE.
(There's no real plot relevance to the outcome of this game and I'm not in the mood to break out a chessboard for correspondence chess, so we probably don't need to specifically list their moves. Let's just say that they're playing chess until the next phase of the final battle.)

Mog opens the chess box and is hit in the face by one of those cartoonish boxing gloves. Space then runs back into his room, grabbing his zappy hand thingy and throwing bear traps all over the floor.

In any case, Mog would have seen the bear traps when he opened the door, not to mention that they're pretty much useless against him since he flies around most of the time anyways.

He has wings. I would also point out before Just gives you abilities that nullify magic that pitting a Mage with a book for a weapon against someone who can nullify all magic is incredibly dickish,
