Throw some dirt at them and see if there's any reaction.
If there's none, poke them and jump back.
If there's still no reaction, pick them up.

(Morgan got lucky. The clouds usually dodge attacks, but die with one hit.)
Morgan shoots in the sky as bullets rain down on her enemies. Tom follows by shooting a bullet that bounces across his enemies and Laura finishes by somehow punching the bees. That was a very short battle.

Rix throws gears at both Bush Monsters, but it's not enough to defeat them when split. They retaliate with bites and explosions. Rix is pretty badly hurt now...
