Welcome to the world of SMRPG2: Legend of the Shattered Star!
First off, we need to decide are you a new player or are you transferring your data from the old SMRPG2 games? If you're an old player, you should already be set and ready to play! Just copy and past your old sign up sheet into this thread and edit it a little to fit the new format! If you're new, you'll have to sign up with a new character. Don't worry. Even if you played the old SMRPG2, you can still sign up with a new character. In fact, the limit of characters per player is two!
Now, before I give you the sign up sheet, let's go over the basic rules!
Out of Combat Movement
This will be pretty simple. Movement out of combat will be handled like most other games. Very simple. If you'd like an example, go ahead and poke your head into any of my other games. Your character can use any of their skills they have to try and access any areas. Be careful though. Enemies will be roaming around. You can choose to avoid them if you want, but if your level gets too low, you may have a difficult time fighting later on. If you land a strike on them before the battle begins, you can get a first strike! This goes for the enemies too, however. Be on guard!
Combat
In the old SMRPG2 games, there was no limit to how many characters a player could have on screen were, but in this one it's a little different. To keep things more manageable, there will be a partner system! Here's how it works. The max party members out fighting at a time is four. No more, no less. And no buts! Even if there are five players fighting the same enemy! Don't worry though. You won't have to sit out too long! Players can use a Switch command to switch between any characters that have joined them on their adventure. This doesn't take up your turn either! The only thing you have to worry about is HP and FP. While resting, characters will gradually recover their HP and FP. Use this to your advantage! You can also use items and certain skills to restore your HP and FP, but remember that the ally that takes the action will take the hit that turn too. You can also choose to Guard! This will raise your defense and protect your allies as well. However, if the enemy uses a multiple target attack, you will be hit once for each hit ally! Owch! Be careful! If you want to add some oomph to your attacks, you can also choose to target a specific part of the enemy. Some parts are weaker than others and you'll do more damage. Some parts, however, are stronger. Be careful where you choose to attack. Also, remember that you can choose not to target a certain point. This way you won't get a bonus, but don't risk doing less damage. Tattling can be pretty useful! HP determined how many hits you can take until getting knocked out. This is a Mario game! People don't die in this! You'll have to start from your last save if you fall though. It can be kind of annoying, so make sure you save often. Just remember that you can't go back after saving. FP determined how many special moves you can perform before you exhaust yourself and can only use basic attacks. BP determines how many badges you can have equipped.
Level Up
When a character levels up, either their HP, FP, or BP increases. That's it though! You can only pick one per level up!
Badges
Badges give characters special abilities, both passive and active. They can have a wide range of effects and really turn the tide of battle! Use them carefully!
Shines
When you pick up a Shine Sprite, you can bring it to Merlon in order to learn a new special skill! These special skills cost FP, but can be really useful! Keep a look out for Shines. Sometimes they're found around the area or can be earned from a sidequest!
Upgrades
Sometimes you can find upgrades to your equipment. These will make your basic attacks stronger!
Quest Log
The Quest Log will detail important events on your adventure. You can read it to refresh your memory on the story or you can look at your active story and side quests. It can tell you what your objectives are.
Party Member
There are a ton of different people out there! Feel free to ask them to join you! If they agree, you'll have a new addition to the team! Numbers can be strong, but don't spread your resources too thin!
Bros Attacks
These are combined attacks with your allies. You'll get them over time and their effectiveness depends on how well your party gets along.
Star Attacks
These are special attacks using the Star Fragments, but we'll talk about that later.
Sign Up Sheet
Name:
Species: (Can be anything from the Mario series. Doesn't even have to be in a mario RPG! If you want something else, maybe we can work something out.)
Basic Attack: (Choose two attacks to function as your basic attacks. What they are doesn't matter as much since you'll be doing the same amount of damage no matter what, but their direction and whether they can hit airborne enemies or not matters.)
Appearance: (What you look like)
Backstory: (Why are you on this adventure? Keep in mind if your character is not in Toad Town, it may take some time to find them and have them join the story.)
That should be all. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
