Send a message back saying Kayla will be there in the evening.
For the morning... Well, the circus was supposed to be here all week right? Kayla will go there.

(Just as a reminder, Mal, the ringmaster told you the public was free to observe practice in the afternoon, not the morning - but you could still go if you have business with someone specific. Or want to get up to something.)

(Oh right)
Kayla will go wherever she can find a shop for camping, hunting, fishing, etc.

Kayla
You look up local outdoor supply stores and find one easily enough. You head over.

"Hello, I'd like to buy a compass and a tent please.
I'm looking for a tent that is easy to transport on myself. A backpack tent perhaps?"

Kayla
A bored-looking cashier sighs and doesn't even look up from his magazine. "Aisles 3 and 4."
You find what you're looking for easily enough. $250 for a decent tent, $350 for a larger one. You find a decent compass for $20.

Kayla will be using that tent alone, so she'll buy the 250$ one and the compass.
Forgot to look for a portable stove and a fishing rod.

Kayla
You walk the aisles a bit more. A portable stove, $70. Oh, and cookware for it. Someone was smart enough to put those right next to each other. $20.
Fishing rods... they have a decent selection. Bait and tackle and line's going to run about $30 for a good kit. As for rods... hm... They've got some trash-tier rods starting at $50. Going up to some quality rods in the $300-$400 range. And some rods designed for kids for like $12. Ew.

Kayla
You head back to the cashier and they lazily ring you up. "Have fun on your camping trip, vacation, or vicious crime spree, whichever is most applicable," they say in a bored monotone.
Lost $660.

After paying, Kayla quickly turns around, waving her badge.
"Do you know anything about vicious crime sprees?"

You successfully drop them at home. Not even going to take all afternoon. Unless there was something you wanted to do there.
