Iggy's Luck + Stealth roll: 132/130 - Of course, a failure by 2...
Iggy
Time: Day 1, Night
Your fairy 'friend' continues to sit on your shoulder, chattering away about nothing important. Things like how the flowers are doing - very well, unusually well, in fact - and her friend Ol' Gray the squirrel. At some point she disappears for a few wonderful moments to stash her shiny-shiny screw. She comes back wearing what you assume is a nightgown made of a few leaves and some tiny flowers, still carrying her chestnut. You worry she's about to start again, but instead she kicks off her boots, curls up on your shoulder, leans against your head, and starts to doze off.
Iggy's listen/spot hidden checks: (hidden)
A few minutes later, you hear something rustling in the brush. You look over, immediately on guard, but don't see anything. Not immediately, anyway. You gradually notice something strange about one of the bushes nearby, just on the edge of the glade. It's covered in small, red berries - but a pair of them, side-by-side, seem to be glowing strangely...

Gently move my shoulder enough to wake her up, then point with my beatsick towards the red eyes while standing up and widening my stance to look bigger and thus more intimidating (if it works against mountain lions, maybe it'll work here too since it only seems to go after children and thus probably hunts small prey). Whisper to the fairy that we've got company, but don't take my eyes off of that bush as long as those red eyes are there.

Ignatius
Time: Day 1, Night
You try moving your shoulder to wake the pixie up. She groans in protest and snuggles up closer. You continue trying to rouse her while taking an aggressive posture, and find she has annoyingly good balance.
You hear a snickering coming from the bush, and what looks like a large coyote comes stalking out of the bush, straight towards you. But... it's clearly not a coyote.
Ignatius' occult check: 100/35 - Critical failure
You have absolutely no idea what it is, other than scary. It's wearing some sort of simple leather armor and a... loincloth? There's also a large club strapped to its belt. But why would it need that? As it walks forward, staring at you with a wide, toothy grin plastered across its not-quite-wolf-like face, it slowly rises to stand on two legs and pulls out its club. "Hehehe... Looks like we got a lively one here. You're coming with me, brat."
Ignatius' Sanity check: 88/80 - 1 sanity damage
That's... that's not right. It's going to...
There's a soft sigh and some shifting on your shoulder as your passenger stirs and begins to wake. "Mmm... Huh? Hey!" She suddenly leaps off and starts to hover. Angrily. "You can't be here, kobold! This is fairy territory!"
The... kobold, apparently, just laughs and keeps advancing on you with his club, menacingly.

Ignatius continues staring the kobold down. If he's scared, it's certainly not showing, mostly because he knows how suicidal giving that... thing an opening would be. Once he's got a good chance he'll lunge at its head with his stick. Whether it dodges out of the way or gets hit, either way it might be the chance he needs to draw his knife and have a better weapon ready.

BATTLE START Ignatius and Pixie vs. Kobold
Firearm Round Pixie raises her chestnut and chucks it at the kobold. It bounces off his head harmlessly.
Melee Round Pixie flies forward and kicks at the kobold's snout. He growls and shifts back, snapping his jaws at her. She darts back and up, well out of his bite's range. Ignatius runs in and clubs it with his stick.
Kobold received 2 damage.
It yips, in surprise more than pain, then snarls at him.

While it's momentarily distracted yipping, get out my knife. When it goes for an attack, try to sidestep and then stab it in the shoulder. I'm lucky that stick didn't break, I'd rather not mess around with it any longer when I've got a real weapon.

Ignatius
You quickly switch to your knife while the pixie dives in for a punch. The kobold swats at her with his club and she's forced to dodge out of the way. You try to stab him, but he easily avoids it. He moves towards you aggressively, but the pixie keeps harrying him and drawing his attention. After a few more fruitless exchanges, the pixie tries to kick him again. He opens his jaws and bites down on her leg. She doesn't seem to be hurt, but she's surprised. You take the opening to stab him in the shoulder.
Kobold received 3 damage.
He drops his club and snarls at you. The pixie tries to kick out of his jaws with her free leg, but only seems to succeed in pissing him off. He grabs her and swings her at you like a billy club. You easily step out of the way, but...

Huh. Well that's different... You know, if someone told me a few days ago that I'd be fighting some kind of coyote monster wielding an unwilling fairy as a weapon while I'm armed with a knife and a stick tonight I'm pretty sure I'd have called them crazy. Keep dodging without going for an attack just yet, I can't risk hurting the fairy. If she still can't get out of his grip, wait until he takes a swing so she's out of the way and then hit him in the gut with the stick (trying to grab onto it with the hand holding the knife as well to add more force to the swing). If I can knock the wind out of him he might just lose his grip on her.

Ignatius
You take a defensive stance and focus on evading the enemy's attacks. Fortunately, he doesn't seem to be very skilled with his improvised weapon. You can see his frustration building in response to your incessant dodging. The pixie keeps struggling, but seems pretty fairly stuck. She tries biting his finger, then lets out a pained squeak as the kobold tightens his grip in response.
Pixie takes 2 damage.
"I said let me go!" she lies. You notice a few small yellow flashes emanating from her, then there's a loud cracking noise and a smell of ozone as lightning arcs from her entire body and up the kobold's arm. He immediately drops her and hops back.
Kobold takes 6 damage.
The kobold snarls at her and retrieves his club.

Since it's paying attention to her again, take this chance to stab it again, especially if I've got a good opening to its back. It's taken 11 damage (stick, knife, lightning magic), with any luck it can't take much more of this.
