Welcome to Ominous Shadow! In this game, you will be part of an organization that investigates and puts an end to supernatural occurrences. Your new team that you’ve been assigned to is being sent out to a rather large area afflicted with some sort of ghostly aura. People have gone missing near there and the ghost readings are off the charts. Expected to be some sort of spirit hub, your team is sent out to find out the source of all this and put an end to it. Now that we have some of the basic story laid out, let’s talk about mechanics. First, let’s go over equipment. Every member of your team has three main pieces of equipment they can choose between before the start of an area exploration. The Flashlight, the Vacuum, and the Hammer. It’s suggested that you have at least one of each during an investigation. Now then, let’s start with the Flashlight. Not only is it used to provide light for your allies, but the flashlight can also emit a bright flash. Use this feature to disintegrate some smaller enemies and stun larger ones. That brings us to the vacuum. Vacuums can be used to suck up ghosts or to blow air out. Some ghosts and weak enemies can be easily sucked in without problems, but stronger ones will need to be stunned first. Ghosts that are sucked up into the vacuum are considered captured and can be exchanged to upgrade equipment. Finally, there are hammers. Hammers can smash through objects possessed by ghosts in order to release them. They pack quite a punch as well. But keep in mind you can’t capture a crushed ghost for upgrades. It’s recommended you do not smash normal ghosts unless you have no other option. Now the next thing to keep in mind is that your character is human. They may be facing off against powerful creatures, but their own powers are limited to that of their equipment and natural abilities. Not sure what I’m talking about? Well, not all humans are the same. In order to emulate this, we have the Perk and Detriment system. You may add Perks to your character. These can be anything from being good with technology to running silently to swimming fast. Whatever you feel would help make your character feel different and help give them a bit of an advantage. However, keep in mind that for every Perk, you must add a Detriment. Detriments can be anything from being tired out easily to being unable to lift heavy objects to being unable to see things that are far away. Anything you think would help individualize your character and give them a slight disadvantage is fine. Alright, now that we’re done with that, let’s get to the sign ups. Name: (This is your character’s name.) Description: (Tell us what your character looks like.) Backstory: (Not required) Perks: (Explained above) Detriments: (Explained above) If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

You could, but that would probably make the game hard. You might want to pick a different detriment. Being able to speak with ghosts is fine for a perk though.

Okay umm what would be a good way of saying that she prefers to be peaceful with ghosts but only destroys them as a final resort.
Or would a better flaw be that she can hear/ speak with the ghost and the neutral and or good ghosts she is okay maybe they can help in some passive way like offer advice or warn them of any danger but if she encounters a particularly malovelent or scary ghost she gets spooked slowing her movements or reaction time.
Or she can talk to and listen to ghost but shes also very naive and gullible and can easily be tricked by a ghost into falling for traps or ambushes if the ghost is particularly evil or mischiveous (like hey you can trust me theres no ghosts in that room. She goes in there and like 5 ghosts ambush them.)

As a quick question, why does being able to understand ghosts need to be a perk in the first place? If they're ghosts, doesn't that imply that they were originally people and should still speak the same language?

I mean...yeah, I originally planned just to make it so most of them could speak anyway.

Wears an old Brown suit jacket and brown pants to match with black loafers. Skin is a bit tamned as a result of aging. Notable wrinkles. Backstory: Ozzy lived a fulfilled life, had a wife until she died a few years back of leukemia. He hasn't made out a will because he never had kids since he was infertile. He decided to use whatever time he has left to make some final contributions to the world however he can. Perks: Due to his age he is able to easily see ghosts, even hidden ones or ones normally invisible ones, and able to interact with them more easily than others. He is even able to clearly see a possessed object, and, if he focuses, person as they truly are. Ozzy is also adept at Mechnaics and capable with technology..
Detriments: His walking speed is impaired by an ankle injury he sustained a few years ago. Due to this he can only run with his cane, and his walking speed is slowed without it. Due to his age, Ozzy is more vulnerable for possession than most others.

Accepted, although you won't really need special perks for interacting with ghosts. You can make changes if you like.

Oh i just assumed they would be speaking in Luigi's Mansion ghost speech where it was more laughs giggles and weird ghosts noises.
But maybe her perk can be that she can reach the hearts of some ghosts and get them join the party or convince them to leAve or help out in passive ways. Could that be something
