"Quick, hide behind the counter!" You move out from your spot at the counter and let the unknown guy dive behind it.
The police officer then comes walking into the store and looks around. "Excuse me, sir, but have you seen a young man come running in here? He has blond hair and was wearing a leather jacket."
You shake your head. "Sorry, ma'am, but I haven't seen anyone like that. You might have a better time finding them outside. I saw some commotion out there a while ago."
She nods to you. "Thank you. Sorry to disturb you." She then walks out.
"Whew, you saved my life! I really owe you one for that. My name's Ace, what's yours?" He reaches out his hand to you for a handshake.
A. "I'm Xavier."
B. "You stole something?"
C. "Give me that phone or I'm turning you in to the police."
D. "You better have a good explanation for this."
E. "Why were those guys after you?"

"You better have a good explanation for this." You stare him directly in the face.
"Whoa, chill out, dude. Look, this isn't what it looks like. I swear I'm not a criminal. So here's what happened. I was just going around, minding my own business and shopping in this store, right? Then this weird lookin' thing steals a phone from behind the counter and sets off some kinda crazy alarm! Next thing I know people are screaming 'thief! thief!' and I'm being chased by the cops! But I didn't do anything, honestly. Then I ran into this store to hide. Those guys seemed almost convinced I stole that thing, but I swear I didn't! I don't even have it, look!"
He reaches into his pocket and pulls out what looks like a new phone before staring at it in disbelief. "What the-!? N-No, that's not right! I swear I didn't steal this thing! How the hell did it get in my pocket...?"
A. "This all seems pretty suspicious to me."
B. "Tell me the truth. Did. You. Steal. This?" Interrogate Skill
C. "That's it, I'm calling the cops."
D. "You're telling me a weird...cat or something stole the phone?"
E. "Can I take a look at it?"
F. "Listen, don't worry about it. Just sit down and relax a bit." *steal* Sleight of Hand Skill

F. I want to try several options and this feature seems important. If we want to try another option we can just load and retrace our steps from when he came in here, but if we find something that means we should turn him in it would be easier if we can load and do so when the cops were still here. |
