Save & Load

You decide to fight the demons, charging headfirst at them with no particular plan in mind other than to fight them. You land the first hit, punching one of the ferrets. However, it does not take long for the two of them to slash at you with their claws, leaving deep and painful gashes in your body. You fall to the floor, struggling to breathe with your phone in your hand.

Auri speaks. "Oh, I didn't expect that approach. Don't worry, you can simply reverse this with the load feature."

You can hear Ace shouting...

You can feel yourself slipping as you begin to fade...

"Whoa, dude, you can really do that?"

"Hmm. It seems you died. That's alright. We can simply start the fight over again."



Dark portals open up in the room as two ferret-like creatures appear. They seem to have abnormally large claws and glowing, red eyes.

"What the helllllll!?"

"As you've likely put together yourself by now, you're no match for even weak demons on your own. But you can fight them yourself should you consume the souls of other humans. You'll gain great power from doing that. Of course, you don't have to do that if you don't want to."

"Whoa, whoa, wait a minute. Are you planning on killing me!?"

"Of course not. Only Master gets to decide what choices are made. I am simply here to guide him."

This. I can't say the idea of absorbing the souls of the innocent sounds good, at least unless there's a way to return them unaffected after the battle.

You take out your Playing Cards and activate your Sleight of Hand skill, entertaining the demons with a card trick. They seem to be effectively distracted, watching you carefully...

Ace keeps his distance from the demons and the battlefield, freaking out a bit.

Auri speaks to you. "An interesting strategy, Master. But you can't keep that up forever. How will you use it to your advantage?"
