The party finally reaches the small village, emerging from the path into a clearing. The sun shines warmly above over the small village, welcoming the party after their long journey. The sunshine reflects off the surface of the crystal blue, clear waters in the river running through the town. A small farm can be seen on one side of the river while the other side seems to have a few small houses and a main square. It isn't much, but it's yours. And this represents a new chapter beginning in your life.
Chapter 1 - Hope of a Small Village
As you approach, you get a closer look at some of the homes. While most of them are standard houses, a couple of them stand out to you. One of them being what looks like a forge with smoke coming up out of the chimney and the other being a carpentry according to the sign. Leanne leads your party over to the town square where those that already live in the village seem to be waiting for you. They cheer as the adventurers arrive, happy to see them here at last.
A man wearing a red and white cloak with a feathered cap walks forward and gives you a smile. You notice he has a scar on his cheek. "Welcome. I'm glad you finally got here. We've all been waiting quite a while for you. Adventurers are an important and necessary part of life in these times, after all. My name is Grizius. I'm just a retired adventurer that lives here, but you can count on me to help you out and act as a guide of sorts." He then looks over at the other villagers standing nearby. "Oh, right. Where are my manners? I should introduce you to the others that have already been here."
He motions to a family of a man and a woman with their young son. "This is Leanne's family. Roy, Grace, and Thomas. They work very hard here to provide us all with food. After all, they are farmers."
Roy gives you a firm handshake. "Nice to meet you. We produce most of the food here, so if you're ever hungry, make sure to stop by and buy some vegetables to eat. It's not much, but we put a lot of hard work into our farming. It's been difficult to grow anything recently. But I make sure to pray for good harvest from Briar each day. So far he hasn't let me down. We've had enough to feed the village and that's all I can ask for."
Using The Farm: You can visit the farm any time you like while you're in the village. If you speak with Roy or Grace, they can sell you some of the produce they have. Vegetables may get boring after a while, but you eat what you can get! Alongside buying food, you can ask for them to plant something you've found while adventuring as long as it grows out of the ground. In exchange for giving them the item, you'll later receive more of that same item later the next day.
Hunger: Your characters will all suffer from hunger if you do not feed them properly. You should eat at least one meal a day in order to keep your hunger at bay. A hungry character will have a heavy stat penalty, so this is important to remember. There are also certain enemies that may inflict you with the Hungry status. This can be cured at any time by simply eating food.
Grizius then motions over to what looks like a short young man with blue hair. He seems to be carrying a large hammer with him and leans on it slightly. "The Dwarf over there is Oz. He runs the forge here in town, so I get the feeling you two will get to know each other rather well."
Oz yawns and waves at you. "Hey, I'm the blacksmith here in town. Although..." He yawns. "...It can get kind of boring sometimes. Some people say I'm lazy, but I only do what I have to. After all, when you have natural talent in something, why try hard when you can get adequate results by just doing it half-assed? Maybe if I was paid more, I'd put more effort in, but it's not really worth it otherwise. Anyway, I'll be handling any weapons or armor you want made. Just make sure you have the materials for it. Getting them myself is just too much work..." He yawns again and lets out a big stretch with both arms skyward.
Forging Weapons: In this game, you will have to create your weapons and armor at the forge with Oz's help. Keep in mind that making weapons and armor requires both materials and gold, however. When you want something made, simply head over to the forge and tell Oz. Present your materials you want to be made into something and Oz will tell you what he can do with it and how much of the material he'd need. If you have enough, he'll make it for you. Prices, however, depend on how much you want to spend. Oz is too lazy to set up his own prices, so he usually lets you decide how much to pay him. If you don't pay him enough, he'll make you a bad weapon, but if you pay him extra, he might make it nicer than usual, feeling motivated by the extra gold. Use your judgment to decide how much to pay him for each weapon and armor.
Grizius continues his introduction of everyone, pointing over at what looks like a woman with long, brown bunny ears. "Her name is Lapin. She'll be important for you to remember as well. Especially considering that we've decided to let the adventurers decide what buildings to put together. Huh? Why are you so surprised? Of course we'd let you all decide. After all, you're the ones that are heading out and risking your lives for these materials. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it."
Lapin steps forward. "He's right, no need to be too worried about it. You just need to tell me what you want built in the village and give me the materials for it. Although we might have specific requests sometimes, it's mostly up to you what I build. But don't worry about the whole set up and building process. I should be able to handle it myself. I look forward to seeing what you have in mind. When you want something built, speak to me and I'll tell you what I can do."
Buildings: The adventurers in this village all get to decide what to build in it. When you want something built like a new shop or facility, simply speak with Lapin. She will tell you what materials you will need and how much gold it will cost. Some buildings can also be upgraded, but this will usually require a sidequest to be completed. Normally, a shopkeeper will tell you about their sidequest before it starts. Once it's complete, you can ask Lapin to upgrade their building and you will gain access to new features that were not there before. For example, if you upgraded the Carpentry, you could build twice a day instead of only once.
Grizius then motions over to the last one here. She's a perky looking girl with curly, orange hair and yellow horns. "And this is Ralliado, another adventurer just like you. She arrived her a bit earlier than the rest of you, so she's been staying here with us." He then turns back to you. "Well, that's everyone. Hm? Living arrangements? Oh, don't worry about that. We've made sure each of you has a home to stay in and built it ahead of time. I've also made sure to prepare you all something as a welcoming gift. Don't be shy, take it."
Grizius hands you a loaf of Bread.

"I have another gift for you as well, but we'll get to that one later. For now, you seem a little bit overwhelmed with everything. I'll let you take a moment to look around the town. It might not be a bad idea to get to know the other villagers. After all, you'll all be living together here."
NPC Relations: It's possible that you may become close to other villagers as you speak with them and spend time with them. By becoming closer to the other villagers, you may unlock special sidequests with important rewards like new shop services or one of a kind weapons, armor, and accessories. It's even possible you may become close enough to a certain villager they will develop intimate feelings and you can get married. However, this would all take quite some time. In order to become closer to another villager, you have to spend time with them while in town and get to know them. Giving gifts to them is also a good way to become closer.
"Go ahead and rest for today and relax a bit. I'll speak with you tomorrow morning about my special gift and give you some important adventuring advice. Ah, that reminds me! This village is going to need a name as well. We haven't really come up with anything, but if any of you have ideas, we would be glad to hear them. I'll be waiting here in the town square, so speak to me if you think of a name for the village."
As you all split off to do various things, a red haired woman wearing a large backpack comes running in from the distance. "WWWAAAAAAIIIIITTT!" She then stops in front of Kali and Boreas. "There you are! I have gifts for you two. This is for playing the original Town Builders game. I hope you enjoy them!" The mysterious woman then runs off before you could hear her name. Huh. It seems she gave Kali an Ice Staff and Boreas Ice Armor.
