As the team returns from their long and hard battle, they head to their room with the Shadow Gem in hand. It seems most of the other teams are sleeping right now. Heading off to the meeting room, everyone gathers to decide what to do about the Shadow Gem. Do they keep it? Do they destroy it? "I think maybe we should see what it can do. If it can make use stronger, we should use it."

"I don't think we should use it, at least until we can learn more about it. For all we know it could have some serious consequences. Too bad I didn't minor in Geology...
Anyways, I have some bad news, everyone. Team Trio returned today, but without Werp. There was something there that was too strong for them to defeat. That being said, I have a plan. If we can't defeat it, how about we distract it long enough for someone to slip by and grab Werp? We'll need to get more details when Team Trio is conscious."
I'm assuming this meeting is just for our team, but if anyone else is there than wait until we've left and gone back to our base to say the second paragraph.

"You're sure you want to send an infant into such a dangerous situation? If you think it's what's best I won't argue, but as your leader I can't say I'm too fond of the idea... Anyways, I'm going to go see if Team Trio has regained consciousness. With any luck they saw enough of their foe that I can identify it from the details."
Cinder goes to the hot springs to check in on Team Trio.

Cinder leaves to go to the hot springs, finding that Team Trio has been healed. "Thanks for the help there. Sorry we couldn't save Werp. Huh? How did we lose? Well...I'm not exactly sure. We were fighting something that didn't even look like a Pokemon. It was something else..."
"It was so powerful. It felt like a normal Pokemon couldn't do anything."
"Even more concerning was Werp. It looked like he was a Shadow Pokemon."

"It's kind of hard to remember. Sorry it isn't all coming back so fast. It used a lot of water attacks. I think...it was multiple water Pokemon. When Werp joined the combination...it was...Kingdra and Milotic? That must be it. It was a combination of a Kingdra, a Milotic, and Werp."
