Somnis sends a text asking if she can push Natsumi into a fountain and steal her clothes.
From Lisa: SOMNIS!
She then sends a message that says she's kidding and she'll apologize tomorrow.
From Lisa: Good. I hope so. The way you acted was not very nice today. I expect better from you.
I get the feeling I may have made her a bit angrier with that joke. At least I can make it up to her tomorrow by apologizing to that girl. Uh...what was her name...?
Somnis puts her phone away and turns to her mom. "Hey, mom, did you have anything about convenience stores show up in your investigations?"
"Actually, I did. How did you know?"
"Lucky guess."
"There were reports of a suspicious man lurking nearby a convenience store last night."
A man...? It couldn't have been Zack, could it?
"Let's go check it out together, mom! It sounds like fun! It'll be just like when I was little and was your assistant detective!"
"I don't know why you have the sudden interest in my work, but I'd love you to come along. Work's a bit less tedious when you're with someone you love."
"Alright! Let's go!" Somnis charges outside and gets in the car. Her mom follows after.
The two drive down to the convenience store in question and get out of the car. As Somnis' mom starts to head inside, Somnis stays outside and looks around. "...Are you coming, Somnis?"
"Don't worry mom! I've got the perimeter covered! I'll look for clues out here!" She pulls out a magnifying glass and begins to run around, inspecting random objects with it.
"Alright, I'll be out when I'm done." She heads inside as Somnis quickly tosses the magnifying glass over her shoulder and begins running around in search of the portal to the other world.
Alright. It's almost midnight. There should be a portal around here somewhere.
She searches around the front, but doesn't find anything in particular. She then runs to the back and finds nothing there.
WHERE IS IT!? Oh, maybe it's inside!
Somnis heads in through the doors and sees her mom talking with the cashier. She quickly inspects the store, knocking various objects off shelves.
Nothing in here either...? What time is it...? 11:59? Ugggghhhhh it's not even time to start searching yet?
As she sighs, Somnis turns and sees her mom finishing conversation with the cashier. "So, find any helpful info from the cashier, mom?"
"Nothing aside from the man was wearing a large coat and a baseball cap..."
That description just screams ZACK.
"Oh, too bad. I didn't find any clues outside either..."
"Hey, cheer up. This is a tough case. Any help is good help to have, right?"
"Yeah, I'm glad we got to spend some time together, mom."
But I REALLY would have been glad if I found that portal.
"I'm glad too. We don't get to spend a lot of time together as a family. I'm really sorry about that Somnis..."
"Yeah, it's okay. Whatever. Let's go find that port-CLUE! LET'S FIND THAT CLUE!" Somnis darts out of the store, in search of the portal to the other world.
Her mom stands in the store and lets out a small sigh. "Always full of energy, aren't you? You remind me of so much of your father..." She walks outside after Somnis.
As both Somnis and her mom get in the car, Somnis looks around outside.
Hmm. I guess this wasn't the right place...
Just as she's about to give up, a red, swirling vortex appears in front of the doors to the convenience store as the car drives away.
Oh, nevermind. I'd go back now, but...mom's already driving home and I can't just tell her that there's a portal back there and she needs to turn the car around...
Somnis returns home and heads to bed with Dogachu for the night, cuddling him.
Hopefully I can go to the otherworld tomorrow. I'll have to call Buttons and Lisa to see if they're free...

Thursday October 6th, Sunny
Morning
Morning again! Hmm...I think Buttons' birthday is tomorrow. I hope I don't forget! I have his present ready and everything!
Somnis gets up and heads off to school. It's a normal day and things go along as usual. Nothing particularly out of the ordinary happens. Eventually, classes come to an end.
Afternoon
Somnis notices that the roles for the musical have been posted. She got a named character role, but nothing too special like a lead. It's a bigger part than just ensemble though.

Somnis heads off to join the bowling team. It seems not many kids are on it, so she's easily accepted! Even though she tried to knock over the pins by walking down the bowling alley and just kicking them over. She said it was more efficient that way.
Your Diligence increased by 1!
Once bowling practice is over, Somnis marks down the days that it is and realizes that practices are generally random and infrequent, so she can show up whenever she wants! How convenient.
Night
Somnis returns home and finds that her mom is out working late again tonight. Dogachu tackles her to the ground and gives her lots of licks to the face. She then manages to get up and check her phone. No new messages. She remembers that she knows where the location of the new place is now. She also remembers that Buttons' birthday is tomorrow. Maybe she should do something special for him?

Karl? That must be the name of the boy I'm supposed to save tonight...
Somnis texts back Raine, telling her that she should come with her tonight. And to avoid Zack.
I hope this is the right thing to do...
She then texts Lisa and Buttons, telling them that she wants to go to the other world tonight with them. She also sets up plans to meet with Buttons tomorrow night for his birthday.

Midnight
Somnis, Lisa, Buttons, and Dogachu all wait at the convenience store for the others as they all arrive. Somnis recognizes some of these people are from her school. Actually, she notices that the two she suspected to be murderers are here. Tom and Julia.
Those are the murderers. But...did I really just invite a bunch of murderers to join us...?
She tells Lisa and Buttons to stick close to her and they nod. The others start showing up as well. The first one that Somnis doesn't recognize is a girl with long, brown hair and blue eyes.
Laura, That Girl That Punches Stuff
Others show up after her too. Avel, Mattea, Lance...
Raine, Morgan, and Tab all show up together after a while.
Someone else Somnis doesn't recognize appears too.
Robbie, Farm Boy
This is...a lot of people. Fox shows up too while you wait. This is WAY more people than Somnis expected. She looks around and inspects them all with her eyes, keeping her mouth shut.
Lisa is the first to step forward and greet everyone. "Hey, so I guess we're both going to be exploring this area together, huh? We should probably introduce each other then. My name is Lisa. That's Somnis. And this is Buttons. Oh, and then there's Dogachu too." Dogachu barks. There's a bit of silence for a moment...

"Somnis is this the car driving Puppy you were talking about? My goodness too cute!" Morgan hugs and cuddles Dogachu. "Aww so fluffy and soft and dat face is way too adorable. Ohhhh I could just cuddle you forever."
The Cat Snakes hop out of the bag and just stare at each other and then look at Morgan and cross their arms.
Tab speaks up after looking at the group. "...Everyone's involved these days. I'm Tab. Now to make things simple and trustworthy, I'll let you know that we're here tonight to rescue a friend of ours from the other world. He was deliberately kidnapped and is trapped somewhere underground. We appreciate you showing us this new portal, but don't get in the way of our rescue mission. Unless you want to help. And, uh... do you need to walk your dog home or something?"
"Oh come on Tab look at the floofy mcwoff face how can we say no to that?" Morgan is busy snuggling Dogachu. "Besides he can drive cars so the other world is probably nothing for him. Besides its not like I ever secretly snuck in Bret or Meg before. Doggie woggie woffie woffie."
Julia speaks up aftwewards. "As Tab said, we are here to save a friend. You might also notice that Lance is with us today. That's because I switched place with him to save him from whom we thought was the murderer, which was in fact you trying to save him from us or something...We might have gotten a bad start, but I'm willing to see past it. After all... the friend we're trying to save did worse than throw sandwiches at me."
Oh no, why would they bring him back here? I put him there to keep him safe. Now we all might be in trouble.
Somnis picks up a cat snake and sets it on her shoulder while petting it. "I don't know if I can trust you. I know that there are murderers among you. I heard them talking about when they planned to kill Lance. I overheard their conversation. There was two of them, but...there might be more. All I know is that there are traitors in your group. Zack is definitely one of them. There was a girl too, but I don't know who she was." Somnis looks at both Morgan and Julia.
Those two...they're the most suspicious. Especially Morgan. I saw her kill Solaria in my dream. I can't explain that to them now though. They'll think I'm insane. But I know that's what I saw. And my dreams were always right before.
"So, that's what I know. I won't cause any trouble, but I will be watching you all very closely. I know one of you is the murderer." Somnis then breaks the serious and tense air by cuddling the cat snake on her shoulder and making happy sounds at it.
Lisa crosses her arms and looks the group over. "Alright, I guess we should head in then. Be careful. We don't know what's in this portal."
Blaze Volcano
Everyone heads through the portal and into the other world. This place is really hot. The rocky ground beneath your feet feels especially warm. There are lava crags in the ground here and there and a large volcano stands above the party. "...That must be where we're going." Somnis takes the Cat Snake off her shoulder and hands it to Morgan. "Here, put him somewhere safe. They can't use Soul Keys like Dogachu." She then tosses Dogachu's Soul Key to him.
The others all activate their keys as well. Laura's hair turns white and her eyes turn gray. Her clothes change into a black and white checkered jacket with a white shirt and black pants. Two gauntlets appear around her hands as well. That's likely her weapon.
Tom's clothes change into a black and green cyber pattern shirt and pants and his sunglasses change to include some sort of scanning function. A handgun materializes in his hands.
Fox suddenly gains nine fox tails and his clothes shift to become red and white with a flame pattern. He's still got his red fur hood, but his clothes have changed color. He flicks his wrist and a shuriken pops out of his sleeve, into his hand.
Raine's clothes change into a beautiful red and green dress with roses on it. She even has a rose in her hair. A watering can appears in her hand as well.
Avel's lightning pattern clothes look mostly the same, but the lightning bolts become actual electricity that bzzts around him. A bow appears in his hand and appears to be electrically charged.
Lance's clothes shift into an entire suit of knight's armor and a lance and shield appear in his hands.
Mattea's clothes change into a fancy and stylish dress with an ornate design. A purple, spiked whip appears in one of her hands as she walks along.

Morgan transforms into her land and sea armor along with her signature pink hair, her helment/visior combo, and her gunblade slung across her back. "Traitors, murders, mafia ferrets," Morgan says. "Well luckily we got the worlds number one detective here," Morgan says while patting Julia on the shoulder. "So all we know is underground someplace here, but umm before we go any further should we get material from around here and get armor to help us deal with the heat?" Morgan asks.
Robbie wipes some sweat off his brow. "Probably a good idea, this place is hotter than my cousin."
I'm not going to think about that sentence too much...
Julia looks around and checks her inventory. "Water armors might also be useful...I have enough sea scales to craft something. If someone wants a water armor, I can give them 10 sea scales, otherwise I'm gonna craft a water weapon."
I already have armor for water. But some water to deal with all this lava could be useful. Should we split up or...?
A.) "Hey, guys, let's go look for materials together."
B.) "Hey, let's split up to look for materials. I'll go with Lisa and Buttons."
C.) "Hey, let's split up to look for materials. I'm taking Morgan and Julia with me."
D.) "Hey, let's split up to look for materials. I want Tab and Fox."
E.) "I'm gonna go off on my own with Dogachu. I'll catch up with you later."

You all move over to a river of lava coming from the volcano and look around. Large pillars of volcanic rock stand tall around you. It seems oddly quiet for a moment before you hear footsteps behind you. All four turn around and look to see Alice and Zack standing there. Alice laughs at you and takes out her medical bag along with a few syringes of poisonous fluid. "You really are stupid."
Zack stands silently and takes out his foldable chair.
Alice gets in a battle stance and continues on with her conversation. "Leading you into this trap was too easy. I'm surprised the others didn't follow. Here to save your friend Karl? Well too bad. You'll join him in the depths of hell."

"...So I can't trust ANYONE these days, huh?! Why are you doing this?!" Tab throws a flying copy at Alice, hitting her with a newspaper covered in sticky poison stingers. She seems to be poisoned from his attack!
"Hahaha! Why would I ever tell you that? Isn't that the nature of humans? Destroy everything in our way! And right now, you're in my way!" She tosses two needles into Tab in retaliation, doing some slight damage, but poisoning him.
Fox keeps his guard up and defends. "I...I can't fight my friends! Snap out of it, you two! This isn't like you!" Zack smashes his chair into Fox, causing a pillar of water to blast up from the ground. Fox seems to be weak to water element attacks. "This isn't good..."
"Bark Bark!" Dogachu continues to bark and growl at the enemy.
"What is it, Dogachu...?" Somnis tries to figure out what's going on. "What!? No way...Those aren't really Zack and Alice! Tab! Fox! Those are bad guys pretending to be our friends!"
Alice looks surprised. "...!?"

Dogachu lets out a loud howl that raises the damage output of his allies before anyone else moves. Tab then quickly drives past Alice, hitting her with his newspaper, before driving away from her. She switches her weapon and throws a needle into Tab that lowers his physical strength, making him feel weaker. Combined with Dogachu's stat boost, the two changes in his strength cancel out to return to normal. Fox then summons a fox made of fire, sending it toward Alice to attack her. It bites her with its blazing fangs, dealing some nice damage. Somnis then activates her own skill, splitting into two different identical Somnis copies. One walks over to Tab and heals him and the other heads over to Fox and heals him. The two then disappear and a single Somnis takes their place again, in between them. Zack smashes Fox again, causing a pillar of water to erupt out around him. Since he wasn't guarding this time, Fox looks really damaged from the attack.

"If you take care of Alice, we'll take care of Zack!" Somnis shouts to Tab and then runs over to help out Fox. While Tab drives over to Alice and stuns her by hitting her with his scooter, Somnis casts a healing spell on Fox, restoring his health. Dogachu then runs over to Alice and lands a powerful, shredding attack with his fangs to take her down. The party watches as she lets out a scream and her body crumbles away into volcanic ash. Zack then lands another powerful water attack on Fox. It looks like Fox can't take another hit without healing. His Soul Key begins to crack slightly.

Somnis quickly releases an arrow from her bow into Zack before anyone can move, followed by Tab hitting Zack with his scooter and stunning him. Somnis chains another arrow into Zack with Tab's attack, poisoning him this time. Dogachu then runs in and uses his Shred ability, creating tears in Zack's clothes that leave him vulnerable to attacks. Dogachu's attack is followed by another arrow from Somnis. Fox then summons a fox made of fire and sends it to attack Zack, giving Somnis a chance to hit him with another arrow. Zack is stunned and unable to do anything. Somnis then takes out one last arrow and gathers energy in it before releasing it into Zack, dealing extra damage for every attack this turn. Zack cracks away and falls apart into ash.

Those enemies were able to look like our allies. This could be dangerous. Maybe we should head back and warn the others...

Both Tab and Somnis send messages to people on your phones about the new monsters. Somnis then looks up at Tab. "So what do we do now?"
"You brought me and Fox along to search for materials, didn't you? Let's continue instead of going back empty-handed. We also need to keep an eye out for any potential clues to wherever Karl is."
She nods and the two continue looking around in the volcanic area, eventually coming across a group of Hellhounds. They bark at the party and charge into battle, getting a first strike before they can move. Tab, Somnis, and Fox all receive damage from a flaming fang attack, but Fox resists most of the damage easily.

A powerful light begins to gather around Somnis. Dogachu lets out a howl, raising the entire party's offense. Tab then throws a paper at an enemy, causing a bow to stick to it, draining its health slowly over time. Fox tosses an exploding shuriken at one of the Hellhounds, damaging it a bit, but none of them seem to be taken down yet. All three of them release a fire breath attack, damaging everyone in the party three times. Fox seems to resist most of the damage and Tab heals most of it from draining the enemy's health. Somnis is surrounded in a bright light and her Crystal Beam is fully charged.
