Welcome to Etrian Odyssey C: YOA!
You'll be taking over the role of the leader of a small team of scouts exploring a lost labyrinth. You'll start with just your own character, but you'll soon recruit new members until you start to look like an actual team.
"Do I need to have played Etrian Odyssey to understand this game?"
Not really. Mechanically, it'll be similar to Dungeon Quest or Vitmons. About all you nee You might need to do a bit extra research about what skills do, but I plan to make this as accessible to new players as possible. You can ask questions or check the wiki. About the only thing you need to know for the sign-up is that a party is 5 characters - with up to 3 backline slots and 3 frontline slots.
"So what's the story?"
Story introduction will be tonight.
"What classes and races will be available?"
I want to make all classes from all 5 games available. I'll be balancing based on V, so I'll need to remake the older ones. I don't want to do several dozen that aren't going to be used, though, so that'll wait until people ask to see a specific class to make it. Also, each character will be able to pick between a mastery or a subclass.
Race list will be up in the next post, along with basic descriptions for all classes.
"Which game systems will be used?"
Burst Skills and Force Breaks.
"I thought you said this would be accessible for newcomers, but I have no idea what that means?"
Don't worry about it. It'll be explained during the tutorial area.
"How are you going to deal with the whole thing where the items you bring in are used to build limited-?"
Shhhhh don't scare off the new guys with a bunch of stuff that'll be introduced over time.
"OK, so when's this starting?"
Iunno. Friday, maybe? Depends on how fast people sign up.
"So what's the sign-up sheet?"
Name:
Race:
Class:
Sex:
Appearance (minus outfit):
Classes desired for guild: (List any classes you want to see in more detail. If you already know what classes you want in your guild, knock yourself out.)
How much tutorializing do you want?: (on a scale of "ease me into it" to "I want to just start with my whole guild, dammit")
*Note about class: if you don't know what class you want, post a few that you're interested in for more details before signing up. All the classes in the class list have a link to the wiki page if you're the type that likes reading.
*More notes about class: Each guild can only have one of the following: Highlander, Fafnir Knight, Yggdroid, Imperial, Necromancer
*Last notes about class: Only Yggdroid (race) characters can be the Yggdroid class; Yggdroid (race) characters can still choose to be any class they want. Players can't choose the Beast class.
*I lied laster notes about class: Newbies can feel free to just pick whatever class sounds the most badass or whatever and ask for recommendations on what other classes to hire.
Also, stats.
HP is health. A handful of skills drain health.
TP is used to use most skills.
STR increases physical damage.
INT increases damage of most magic skills.
VIT increases HP and physical defense.
WIS affects magic resistance.
AGI affects hit/dodge rates and power of some ranged skills.
LUC affects chances of inflicting or avoiding binds and status effects.
