Kitty, Mal, Blood
"It won't work!" Sam points at the giant squirrel and hefts his shield. Force Break! Like an iron wall, Sam unleashes Perfect Defense!
"Begone." Zenia blasts the squirrel with more fire.
Mathilda stabs the giant squirrel with her pitchfork while Alice slashes it with a flaming sword.
With the last of its strength, the squirrel goes berserk, plowing into the parties with a massive body slam. With a roar of effort, Sam catches it on his shield, sliding back several feet before throwing it back.
"Let's finish this beast off!" Draxia blasts it with a ball of fire.
"Now, it is time to meet your maker!" DEADLIFE slashes the giant squirrel with a rising slash while it's off balance. The squirrel doesn't get up again...
"Now's our chance! Move!" Sam grabs Alice and Mathilda and starts pushing them forward.
"Run," Zenia says with an understated intensity.
As the party retreats, loud whistling cuts through the air. Then a series of explosions wracks the cannon-turtle...
Fuzz, X
Finn and Terry trade places. "And now, the GRAND FINALE!" Aria unleashes Rush Dance.
Peri opens fire on the Huge Rat with Fire Rounds. Aria shoots it. Allure slashes it with Ice. Aria shoots it. Terry slashes it. Aria shoots it. The beast collapses...
The other rats go skittering off. The huge swarm starts to dissipate.
The Birdfolk lady reappears from down the hall. "We've got some injuries here! Hey, you said you guys came on a ship, right!? Tell me you brought medical supplies...!"

That Night
Most of the fleet was destroyed. Almost three ships made it into the harbor. Two of the smaller supply ships, and most of the Stormrider. Nearly a third of the ship was torn off, and the surviving part beached itself in the shallow waters. Fortunately, the giant sea monster was unable to follow them.
Now, several troops are on the shore, ferried over in wave after wave of smaller boats. Most are busy securing the area, driving off any monsters they find in the town. A few are busy combing the shore for survivors and supplies that are washing up. Peri, Terry, and their team brought the survivors of the town to the shore, where they were able to get treatment. All told, there were barely 100 of them, almost half of them Yggdroids. They seemed to be the most resistant to whatever curse or spell was luring people to wander into the forest.
The captain - a large, older man with a bristly beard and an oversized hat - takes a boat to the shore. He takes a look at the 15 adventurers assembled on the shore, as well as the Birdfolk and Yggdroid that were at the light house. "Excellent work, young ones. It's no exaggeration to say you may have saved this expedition. Now... I need to ask more of you. You're some of the most experienced adventurers we have. Plenty of the ones on the boat got their fill of combat experience, but you've all had a taste of what it's like to be in the labyrinth... kind of. As such, we'll be sending you all into the labyrinth proper. We lost a lot of our supplies when some of those ships sank, and we have several things we need soon if we're going to survive." The captain nods at the Birdfolk. "Ms. Mu, the former Guild Master of Kald will explain from here."
She clears her throat and takes over. "We need to reinforce the town's walls. For that, we need wood. Second, fresh water. Third, a supply of fruit. Fourth, meat - I recommend fish. There aren't enough in the ocean, thanks to all these monsters. Finally, we'll need a supply of herbs to make more medicine. We'll be organizing you all into 5 teams. As is tradition, you'll form teams of 5 people and sending you into the labyrinth."
"Aria, Sam, Zenia. You'll be free to take your assignments as you choose. The rest of you will form the teams. Most of you will be acting as the leaders and co-leaders of these new 'guilds.' Sol, Luna. You'll be with Wolf and... Alice, was it? As for the rest of you! There's plenty of other rookies for you to choose from, so pick some to fill out your ranks. We've also got several experienced adventurers, including some of the Kald survivors, but we need to keep some of them around to help keep the town secure until the wall is repaired. Think of them as temporary tour guides. You'll be limited to one each. Got it? I'll send them over and you can pick who you want."

When the experienced adventurers come out, you find you've got quite a few choices. This would be a good chance for you to try our something you might not normally consider...
There's a Celestrian Night Seeker. He's the one you saw on the boat who's dressed in basically nothing with several knives pointed at his crotch. He smiles eerily at everyone. People say Dark Hunters are shunned because they're all a bit twisted, and Night Seekers creep them out...
Speaking of Dark Hunters, up next is an Earthian dressed in an outfit that looks like it's made of a few leather belts. She's also giving everyone a creepy smile as she snaps a whip. "So... Who wants to learn about binding? Ehehehe..."
There's a Brouni medic. The one that healed you all before. He looks excited to be here and keeps rummaging around his bag to double-check his supplies. "You all can count on me!"
Sam is standing around, cleaning his sword and shield. He nods at the party. You all know what he can do.
A Deep One Imperialist is holding a massive sword unlike anything most of you have ever seen. It hums with some sort of magitech energy. "Want to see the power of a Drive Blade?"
Next is a Therian Monk. Her ears are flopping as she excitedly hops from foot to foot, throwing jabs at the air. "I know I look like a fighter, but I know some healing tricks, too!"
A Forest Folk Pugilist is at her side. She looks like she wants to invite the monk to spar. "Unlike my friend here, I don't really know much about healing... But I'm much tougher in a straight-up fight!"
Mu is looking at you all impatiently. "I'm a bit rusty, but I can still handle myself just fine." She's got a bow and seems to be a survivalist.
The Yggdroid Yggdroid that was with her at the lighthouse is also standing by. "Ready for action."
Aria is up next. The Forest Folk Dancer is shaking her hips, smiling and singing to herself without a care in the world.
Zenia is beside her, quietly cleaning her Alchemist glove. An Arken Hexer/Alchemist hybrid...
A cow-man - Sentinel - with a large spear is next. He salutes everyone gathered. "Well met. I'll show you the courage of a Highlander."
A Vessel, often thought to be the Celestrian's distant cousins, is next in line. This guy looks snooty. He's wearing a crown and everything. Must be a Sovereign. He's clearly too good to introduce himself.
Last is another Birdfolk. This one has a massive scythe clutched in her hand-talons. She looks around with a blank stare. "...Kill..." she whispers. "Show me who to kill..."
...All the newly formed guilds needs to pick one of these mentally unstable experienced adventurers to help them learn the ropes of exploration...

"Hm...?" Wolf looks at Mu. "Why are the four of us already in a group?" He motions to Sol and Luna as Alice seems to have run off somewhere.
"An excellent question. I was wondering the same thing, seeing as the others were allowed to choose."
"Hey, I'm not complaining. Whatever keeps me with Sol."
Sol pauses a moment and looks around. "Has anyone seen that girl...?"
Alice runs off toward the mentally unstable Harbinger whispering about murder to herself and flops into her with a hug. "Yayyyy! Birdy!" Seems Alice likes birds.

Mu shrugs at Wolf. "Because the 4 of you worked really well together. More importantly, because I said so. Now pick your guide and pick your assignment and get your butts in gear."
The Harbinger looks down at Alice. A few of the others share worried glances, but the Harbinger couches down and hugs Alice back. "Hello, little one. Are you going to show Liandra who to kill?" As she rises to her feet - well, talons - again, she scoops Alice up onto her shoulders and brings her back to her guildmates. "Ready to go. Tell us the target..."

Wolf turns and notices Alice riding atop a murderous birdfolk with a scythe. "Er...Alice...?"
"I found a birdy! She's going to help us kill those bad things!"
Wolf feels as if coming here may have been a mistake. "Alright...Our mission is to enter Yggdrasil, so I suppose that's where we're headed."
Sol speaks up. "Just a moment. You say that some of you have been living here for a while? Surely you have some way of providing proper equipment. It would be best to leave prepared."
Luna nods.

The Harbinger smiles at Wolf. It looks... wrong. "Birdy... help... kill..."
The captain nods back at Luna. "We're working on setting up supply dispensaries and lodging now. They should be prepared by the time you get back."
Mu stares. You get the feeling she's not really a people-person. People-bird. People-bird-person. Whatever. "So, are you going after the fresh water, fruit, herbs? Fish?"

"Best to procure fresh water first. It's one of the most prominent necessities." Wolf responds.

Peri looks around at the group of experienced explorers. "How about that Yggdroid?" Finn scoffs. "How about literally anyone else? I'd rather go into the labrynth with a bunch of those rookies than take an Yggdroid. Hell, I'd rather go in alone." "Very well then, let's see..." While Peri continues thinking over the best choice of explorer she feels a gentle tug on her coat. Looking down, she finds that the culprit is a small green girl smiling up at her. "Hi! Are you going into the Yggder... Yggda..." The girl points to the Yggdrasil Labyrinth. "That place?" Peri smiles back and nods. "Yes, we are." "Can I come? I wanna help!" "Well, um... The Labyrinth is a terribly dangerous place. Do you even know how to defend yourself?" "No... but I know a lot about plants!" Finn takes a look at the pouch of herbs and the large book the child is carrying. "Looks like she's a Botanist. We could use someone like her to keep us healthy seeing how all we've got now are those weird medicine bullets of yours." Peri thinks for a moment before making her decision. "Very well then, what is your name?" "Lily!" "Well then Lily, I accept your offer. I am Lady Peri of House Gren, and my... associate here is Finn. Now, would you care to help us choose one of these fine explorers to aid us?" (@mustardofdoom, have you decided which NPC you want to bring with you? If you're not taking Aria along I wouldn't mind bringing her to fill the role of a buff unit until my fifth character.)

As Lily looks from one person to the next she finally settles on pointing at Aria. "That one!" Peri nods. "That's a fine choice, Aria there helped us get this far. Finn, have you found anyone else that might be suitable for our guild?" "Honestly, most of the ones I'm seeing that haven't been picked seem kinda mediocre. Don't judge a book by its cover and all that, but for now we might be better off sticking with a bit smaller of a group. Adding another of these shmucks to the mix is just going to make us more noticeable without adding a whole lot else." "Nonsense! It would be the height of foolishness to depart without anything less than a... full..." Peri trails off as she spots a male troubadour among the other rookie explorers. He's playing the guitar and singing a cheesy love song to a woman who's clearly not interested, and after the unimpressed woman walks off he looks around at everyone else before locking eyes with Peri. "On second thought Finn, you may be on to something. Let us convene with Aria and enter the labryinth posthaste. Chop chop, those supplies won't gather themselves!" Peri quickly ushers her guildmates over to Aria and away from the Troubador. (No name or much of a description for the Troubador just yet since I'm not done working on him, but in the future he's going to be my fifth character.)

Guild Fuzzy Bunny
When you approach Aria and ask her to be your guide, she grins at Lily, then turns to Peri. "I see you got a cute new friend! So, you want me to guide you? Hehe. The first one was free, but this one's gonna cost you... Lady Gren." She extends her hand in an invitation to dance and gives a slight curtsy. "I trust you can afford my price?"

"Yes, yes, very well." Peri returns the curtsy and does a remarkably short yet energetic dance while keeping one eye on how close the Troubador has gotten to the group. "And now that we have danced, let us make for the labryinth posthaste!" Peri hurries into the first stratum as Finn and Lily follow behind, neither of them really sure what that was all about.

Aria seems satisfied... for now. "If we're in a rush, you could've just said so. I take IOUs. So, what's our objective? I think a team already went after the fresh water."

"Herb gathering, perhaps? If another attack happens this town will need all the medicine we can find, to say nothing of those already injured."
