Tai scoops Natsumi up to a lot of loud protesting. Once she realizes he's trying to at least take off the jacket, she calms down and helps with that. Leia asks what's going on just as Tai tosses her off the dock.
"Lei-? AH!"
Freya, down in the river, covers her face from the splash as she breaks into laughter.
Mattea grabs her side and doubles over. "OK... OK! It was... d-definitely worth coming out here...!" She takes a breath. "Oh, Tai, that was such a nice throw..."
Natsumi breaches the surface with a gasp. "O-oh... H-hey... Leia... What's up?"

Mattea returns Tai's high five, careful to avoid letting him grab her.
Natsumi ducks under the water as Leia dives, then pops back up. "Hi, Leia. Um... What are we doing here...? It's kind of a long story?" She rolls to float on her back. "First I was planning to have a talk with Freya about the Otherworld stuff and what happened yesterday, then Tai wandered in so I decided we'd toss Freya in the river, then you started calling about the thing so I figured you could just come and talk to us here. So...?"

"What, seriously?" Mattea asks. "You expect me to go crawling around some dark, dank cavern for some stupid shoe?"
"Leia, no!" Natsumi exclaims. "It's just a shoe! You don't even need them for outfit-wearing, I go without them all the time! Yes, maybe we, um, what's the word? Culled some of the monsters yesterday, but they're still way too angry to go without a really good reason!"
"Oh, yeah... And every time we've gone to the Otherworld beach so far, someone's gotten caught by the beast-thing... and we've never even seen it in person," Kiran points out. "That beach sucks. Ours is way better. But I'll go with you if you want."
Freya pulls herself up to sit on the docks, legs in the river. "You, uh... didn't ask Raine about that, huh. She told me she lost it because it got destroyed, but Sam already said she's going to replace it. They were going out tomorrow, I think. Besides, I really don't think Raine'd be happy with people risking themselves for her shoe like this."
Natsumi frowns and grabs Leia in a hug. She lowers her voice to a whisper. "What is this really about, Leia?"

Natsumi splashes Leia. "Hush. Silly Leia-person. I... um. Hm. We should probably wait until the meeting Wednesday before we start trying to do anything, really... But I think our first goal should be trying to meet all the Guardians! Once we can talk to them all we can figure out what to do about Mercia together!"
"Yeah, this is all really new to me. I'm still just trying to get the hang of stuff, so." Freya shrugs.
Kiran looks around at everyone. "So... beach or nah?"

Seeing as how everyone is so casual at what Leia just confessed, she just freezes for a few seconds, walks out of the water with a blank expression on her face, then runs away home before she starts crying in front of everyone.

Leia seems to stop when she ends up hearing Tai. Her shoulders seem to be shivering, but no sounds of crying is coming out of her yet.
