Sam decided it would be best not to bring up the business about the other world. It's something that has to be seen to believe.

"Freyja, huh?" Aron says Freya's name with a very thick Nordic accent. "Hoo boy, that's gonna be tough. My old man really beat the Icelandic pronunciations of the gods' names into our heads."
He grins and adds "That's why I can't watch Superhero movies with my friends."
As they dispose of another pile of bags, he starts looking around for something new to do. "Getting a lot done, at least. Is everyone here in the volunteer club? What others you in?"

"I am part of the gardening club that is ran by Raine,". "I am also part of the Drama club,". "They are going to have be puting on a play and I will be a part of that,". "The person who runs that is a very nice and pretty lady named Avalon," Sam says to Aron.
"I haven't been to the volunteer club yet,". "This is actually my first time interacting with them,". "But after that freak weather event,". "I just had to see what happened,". "Helping to clean is an added bonus," Sam says.
"Oh yeah I actually got a part time job working for this amazing fortune teller,". "Her name is the Great Mereena,". "She's also a student at the local high school,". "When you get the chance you should visit it sometimes," Sam says to Aron.
Sam while holding the bag grabs random small pieces of sticks and stuff and places them in the bag.
"I actually having really got a chance to meet the student president,". "What is she like?" Sam asks.

“Hmm... Well, an educated guess is the next best thing after direct confirmation, and given Mercia’s usually less than helpful explanations it’s probably as good as we’re going to get... Anyways, can you describe the monster? I’m going to talk to Hinoh tonight to see if he knows anything about this, the more information I can bring him the better,” Dewey says.
"Hinoh? Oh, another guardian, right. Well, it was called a leech, which makes sense because it sucks the Aether out of fucking everything. Which reminds me, our weapons weren't that effective since they're Aether based. One of her goons left us some knives that are supposed to be helpful." Tai deposits some trash quickly and returns. "Anyways, it had Claws and a tough shell. It took a while, but after we broke the shell the squishy shit was eays to kill, but well, it did," he gestures to the general area, "this."

“Hinoh’s the light guardian, yes. In any case this is definitely a fair amount to go off of.” Dewey thinks for a moment. “Actually, we may have almost encountered one of these yesterday aboard the machine labyrinth at the train station. We didn’t see it but there was a heavy impact against the train we were on followed by alarms warning of a threat outside, and right before we left Tia noticed something strange in the ambient Aether. She said something about most places feeling denser than usual lately though, which doesn’t seem to add up if these leeches have been draining it...”
Tai thinks it over for a moment. "I'm not sure why that'd be the case. But there has been more Aether in the city, since we can stay in our Otherworld forms near the portals. Last time we visited the area and one of the monsters escaped we weren't so lucky. We had no clue what the hell was going on, but apparently Leia tried painting the Otherworld area to no avail. Which makes sense now that we know the Aether was stolen."
“And that might just be what worries me the most about this, who knows what sort of effect an abundance of Aether might have?” Dewey yawns, snapping out of his current state of worry to remember that he’s still pretty tired. “Well, if that’s everything then I think I’ll head home and get some more sleep. In the event that this turns into another all-night study session I’ll want to be well rested.”
Tai nods. "That's fair. Let me know about any updates. I'm gonna stick around and clean up my mess."

Early in the afternoon you get a message from Raine. "Dad's fine! We're still on for tonight. Meet at the boardwalk at 11:30."

You spend the day helping Somnis and the others clean up around town, slowly spreading out from the center. Mattea shows up around noon with a cartload of sandwiches and other assorted food for lunch, and then it's back to work. In the mid-afternoon, Somnis calls for everyone to gather around. "Good work everyone! We managed to put a good dent in all of this, but that's it for today! See you later!"
You're so sore. You want sleep. But the day's not quite over, and you want to squeeze a bit more out of the weekend...

Once you finish cleaning stretching and taking off your gloves, Fox and Katie come your way. Katie's jumping slightly. "Horse?" she asks.
"Do you want to go somewhere tonight, she means," Fox says.
Nora
Alice smiles. "You're more than welcome to to make a better suggestion..." She goes about setting up the board and pieces while you wait for lunch to arrive. The nice lady you saw on your first day delivers the sandwiches and coffee with a smile. Alice wastes no time attacking her meal. It's kind of obvious she forgot to eat breakfast as she spears a dozen green beans at once... The meal itself is good, savory, filling, and definitely not particularly healthy. 'Southern comfort,' you think it's called.
When you're finished, Alice deposits everything in a small trash can and moves to the chessboard. "I wasn't bluffing, just so you know. I did mean the rest of the afternoon. Last chance to back out."

Nora grins. "You should know me better than that by now, hm?"
She sits back down across from Alice and makes herself comfortable. "I may not have played in a good long while, but I'm still a former Grandmaster, miss Chess Club leader. And I don't play nicely. So let's see how quickly I can knock the rust off."
