Nora chuckles. "Sounds like a win-win to me. Nothing would make me happier than spending the day with you."
She yawns abruptly. "Except maybe sleeping for the next 24 hours. I haven't been this tired since I tried running a marathon once. But don't think that means I'm going to lose easily, dear."

Aron strokes his morning 5 o' clock shadow contemplatively. "Rrright..." He says, sincerely attempting to conceal his doubts. "I'm sure you're just misunderstanding her somehow! C'mere, we'll talk to them and clear this up!"
Without waiting for any sort of agreement, Aron not-so-gently claps the dark-haired unwitting stalker girl on the back and then guides her forward with him as he openly and mirthfully approaches Sachi and Vivian.
Leaving the stalker no time to run away unnoticed, Aron calls out to the other pair as if they were friends. "Heeey! Got a minute there, you two? This friend of mine here wanted a word! Something about Tzun Tsu and fake beards?"

You start pushing the girl forward while calling out to the others. She struggles against you. The two turn to look at you, and then the weight fighting against you lessens. Then you feel something lock around your arm. And suddenly you're in the air, flipping over the girl in the trenchcoat. She drops on top of you before you've even hit the ground, driving a knee into your back. She holds it for just a moment, then jumps up. "Oopsie! Sorry. Force of habit."
"Uh... Is that you, Somnis?" Sachi asks. The girl at his side narrows her eyes, trying to get a better look at her.
"Um, so. Anyway. Gotta go!" Somnis retreats at full speed while you're still getting up.
Nora
"And don't think it means I'll go easy on you when you lose. I had a few ideas, but I think we can save that for another day. Best two of three. Shall we?"
She sets up the chess board as you finish the sandwich. Alice's first few moves are bold, if not completely reckless. She waits until the game is well on the way to look up from the bored with a smile. "So, what's this about running off to the Otherworld and fighting leeches?" she asks.

"Oh, yes, got to meet a giant tree too... Apparently some monsters escaped into the park the other day, so... Floyd, is it? Floyd wanted to check on the Guardian, and dragged Mareena and Freya along. I was going to look after the shop for Mareena while she was out, but she invited me along so I decided to tag along. We ran into... Leia and Natsumi who had the same idea, joined up, found a giant mosquito leech sucking all the aether from the tree, and killed it."
Nora plays carefully and slowly, unlike her usual self. "Did you know Mareena is a Phoenix?"

Aron groans, more surprised than roughed up. "I recognise that throw... now I gotta go around acting like I didn't just fall for a trenchcoat as a disguise and nothing else." He sighs and stands up, looking at Sachi with the most neutral expression he can muster.
"Somnis? Who's that? That was my karate instructor... May. Ling. Mei-Ling. She was adopted. You should definitely act like you didn't just see somebody named Somnis, I don't wanna get flipped again this week. Anyway, what are you guys up to. My, uh, karate instructor thought you looked suspicious."

"No, that was definitely Somnis..." Sachi says. "Is she pretending to be a karate instructor now? Don't think anything bad about her, she just does things like that sometimes. But, um, whatever she's trying to get from you, you should... probably not give to her. Maybe find another instructor."
"We're... just going to brunch..." Vivian says. "She... thought that was... suspicious? Um, thanks for... telling us?"
"Ah, I see. She thinks I'm spying on the competition!" Sachi looks at a small deli they were about to go into. "Well, she's right. Don't tell anyone."
"Um... Yeah..." Vivian says. She ducks behind Sachi slightly.
Nora
Alice pauses in the middle of moving her queen. "That's... Hm. You really should have warned someone, just in case something happened." She plops it down almost absently. She blinks, then glances down at the board. "...Ah, whoops."
You check and triple-check, running through the next few moves. It doesn't appear to be a trap.
Alice, a bit annoyed at herself, shrugs as you scrutinize the move. "Yes, yes, I got distracted and made a mistake. Even I do that sometimes." She waits for a moment, then continues. "A Phoenix... hm. I've been suspicious that Mareena might be working with the armored ones for a while, and not in the sense of wanting to stay neutral with her services... But... being a denizen could certainly explain her knowledge as well. And we know that some monsters can take on human forms. Laura, Grant, Tia. I... believe the Guardian of Light is a large bird-like creature." She's lost in thought at this point. "Tia shows some snake-like traits, and Laura has her father's fiery temper... Grant... is a bit, well, slow and steady. Mareena... birdlike? Hm. Hm... Hm? Oh, yes. The game. Right. Sorry. Take the queen and let's get the penalty over with. Unless you're in a merciful mood for once?"

Nora smiles. "Merciful, hm? I do think I am feeling a tad merciful, yes."
She doesn't take the Queen. "The Guardian of Light, is it? Well, that would certainly fit Mareena... Ah, yes. Those... Beast creatures in the Otherworld. They exist to prevent Guardians from invading each other's territory, do they not? I believe one of them tried chasing Mareena out of the tree..."
Nora pauses. "The question becomes then, if Mareena is the Guardian of Light, why hasn't she told anyone? Is she hiding from Mercia?"

Alice seems incredibly surprised and more than a little off-balance from the move. "Um... Well. There's a few possibilities, I suppose. That she's trying to hide from Mercia is certainly one. But she hasn't exactly been subtle. Assuming Mercia already knows... I'd say it's possible that she's already agreed to cooperate with Mercia in exchange for keeping her soul. Or maybe Mercia is allowing her to remain neutral since she knows where Mareena is and could deal with her at any point." Alice thinks about her next move, but eventually realizes she's made too many mistakes. "Well... That's one win for you. But don't think you'll get another!" While she's setting up the board, she pauses. "There's also the possibility that Mareena isn't the guardian herself. Remember, Laura was Dragon's daughter and only just inherited the Fire Soul. Perhaps Mareena is Hinoh's kid?"

"Huh? But... I don't understand. If Somnis didn't want us to know it was her, why didn't she just wear some kinda disguise...?"
"That... was a disguise, though?" Vivian says.
"But only Somnis would wear something like that, it was obviously her. I don't get it."
"It's OK, Sachi. Um... Thanks for letting us know about this. But, um, we're going to be late, so... Sorry. Bye." Vivian practically drags Sachi away.

Nora thinks for a moment, then nods. "It's definitely a possibility. I recall Mareena making it a point to mention she was half Phoenix. Ah, here, let me help, love."
She helps Alice reset the board, grinning slightly.

TaiYou head out to the city. There's not a lot going on as the rain starts to fall. It's not so bad now, but looks like it's going to get a lot worse soon. You spot Vivian and Sachi coming out of a small cafe or whatever. The say a few words to each other before Sachi pops out an umbrella and makes for the bus stop. Vivian doesn't bother, turning and walking a short distance towards the museum. You spot Lance and the new guy with the bandages talking in front of the library. AronYou go running after Somnis as the rain starts to fall. It takes some time chasing her before you finally corner her in an alley. It's starting to rain heavier. She turns around, still in her disguise. "What do you want, traitor." Nora"I'd say she's most likely the Guardian's daughter, then... but we could always just confront her directly. She's not exactly... Hm?" Alice looks up at you, then grins back. "Oh, I see how it is. We'll just see who's laughing after I beat you in the next two games." Alice taps your nose. "It'll be you. Oh, but maybe I'll be a little nicer if you promise to ask Mareena for me." Floyd"Trees? Whatever could you mean? You make me sound like some sort of birdbrain  " "Still sounds like fun see you next week" You watch the advanced class dancers for a bit and feel some of their moves rubbing off on you. Gain a Charm
