Tai strolls towards Lance and cast-boi. "You're supposed to keep that from gettin wet, ya know," he says pointing lazily at the cast. Tai looks over the library entrance for a moment. "Don't think I've been here before. Nicer than the one in my last city by the looks of it. But ya gotta love some fucking rustic charm, too."

Aron exhales through his nose and hesitantly smiles at Somnis. "That's fair, I guess, if a bit melodramatic. I didn't mean to push your boundaries too far or nothin'." He leans against a wall, letting the drains shield him from the rain a bit and leaving Somnis ample room to leave. "I at least found an answer for your questions, if you want."

Lance shakes his head, then points at his hat. "I mean yeah, rustic charm is great and all, but not at the cost of, y'know, not being able to get the books you want. What's the word. Function. There's a saying for this. Something about form and function..."
"I kind of like rustic libraries, actually," bandages says. "Specifically the old-fashioned vibe, like I'm an old-timely scholar searching for rare manuscripts. With a particular eye for books deemed heretical and banned by the church. But with air conditioning."

"I don't expect a straight answer, but that doesn't mean it won't tell us all we need to know. And who knows, maybe she'll be more open with you. Or maybe I should try...? She seems like the type that doesn't much care for authority figures. Bet she'd love a chance to tease me a bit." Alice seems a bit half-heated going into the second game. "...Bet you would, too. To be honest, I'm not at my best either. And I did promise to be nice, though I didn't say how so... Alright, alright. I yield." She tips her king over, then stands up and stretches. "Well, you win. What now?"

"I guarantee you did not because I'm not trying to figure out what I think you think you think I think you're trying to think I'm thinking about," Somnis says. "But let's hear it anyway."

Aron blinks. "Sachi assumes he's got eyes for the same person you do, and Vivian doesn't seem to mind too much." He says, not sure if he's even on the right train of thought anymore. "It's not a complete picture, but I hope that makes us even!"

Nora smiles. "Ah, yes... Teasing you is indeed quite fun. You're very cute when you're flustered. But you're even cuter when you're relaxed and enjoying yourself."
She pats her lap. "Come sit and let me pamper you, dear. Oh, maybe get a hair brush while you're up. When was the last time you let someone tame that beautiful hair of yours, hm? As for Mareena... I do believe she'll be honest with me. She was, after all, the one who awakened my powers and was right there when I had my first true vision. No point in lying to me when I've already seen her sitting on a throne of light, hm? Not that I had any idea what that meant at the time. Ah yes, I never did tell you about all that, did I... Well, you can have story time while I pamper you! And I get to have you in my arms, which is quite a marvelous reward for me."

Bandages stares at the umbrella for a moment, then blinks with confusion. "Whoa, what, really? You sure?"
"Uh... Dunno what type of small town you came from, but back at Grandma's something like a library ain't exactly a thing." Lance cocks his head and seems to be doing some math with his hands. "The closest one was, I wanna say, the town over. And they had maybe 10 shelves. Also a few old, faded board games that the kids could play in the back room. I think they did a barbeque every few months, at least."

"Story time certainly sounds preferable to the alternative, and I suppose I have no right to complain how you spend your victory. But if you're planning to lull me into a false sense of security just so you can swap to teasing right before you leave..." Alice walks back in with a hairbrush and takes a seat. "Well I'd prefer the other way around to get it over with, but it's your show. So, why don't you tell me about this... throne? And how you're getting used to the Otherworld. Already bold enough to go without your dear Auntie Alice."

"I... what? No, that's... What? No, Vivian and I both like the same girl. And I don't think Sachi likes anyone?" Somnis says, more to herself than you. "Mattea had a crush on him but I think that ship's sailed, probably? She seems to like Tai a lot." You definitely know who these people are. "But that's not the point, I think Vivian is plotting something and I need to know what."

"He could be covering her, I guess. She was pretty quiet." Aron says nonchalantly, before talking in a dramatic tone, like telling a scary story around the campfire. "Of course, maybe she wants me to think that. There are lots of shady things going on out there... stalking, rigging the lottery, gangsters... vine-bears..."
The last part he still sounds a bit incredulous about. "Tell you what, I know I wasn't very useful today, but I'll keep my ear on the ground and prove a, uh... better asset next time, yeah? If I do, then you can let me know more about your... investigation. I scratch your back, you scratch mine, bada-bing, bada-boom! Now do you have a fast way out of this rain, or can I help you with a cab fare or something?"

Nora giggles as she takes the hairbrush. She waits for Alice to settle into her lap, then starts running the brush through her hair, while wrapping her other arm around Alice's waist.
"Oh, I'd say I'm getting pretty used to things now... Well, as much as one ever can be to something as extraordinary as the Otherworld. Flying has become natural to me, and I learned in my most recent outing that I'm actually quite fast... And it seems my magic is continually growing stronger. So, naturally, I'm feeling a bit bold."
She brushes Alice's hair away from her neck. "As for the other thing... You remember that tornado? Well... Not-tornado. I'm told now it was an explosion of aether. A day or two before, I was in Mareena's shop for the first time. In hindsight, she clearly always suspected I was capable of using magic, but this was before I had my soul key. She gave me a tarot deck that belonged to her and asked me to do a reading of her. So I did. And it prompted a vision. It's difficult to describe what the experience was like. One moment I was in the shop, looking at the cards on Mareena's desk, the next I was seeing something completely different...It was like being in a dream, except I was wide awake. I saw this city, devoid of all color, bleached an ugly grey monochrome, with most of the buildings destroyed and streets ruined. Beyond the edges of the city, there was nothing, just an endless barren expanse like everything had been buried under a colorless desert. Then I saw some kind of... hall, with several thrones, each a different color, presumably one for each guardian. But all of the thrones were broken and destroyed, save for the last one, which was bathed in light. And I clearly saw Mareena on it. There was a huge gate behind her, like she was guarding it. I vividly remember calling her the "final Guardian" during my trance, and this was before I knew about any of the Otherworld stuff."

"Well damn, thanks!" Linus says. He sets a shopping bag down for a moment, readjusting it so he can carry it around his good arm and still carry the umbrella. It's filled with weed killer and looks like it's about to rip. Ah, right, he was at the park... "You're right, I should probably leave now before it really starts pouring. How can I return this to you? Can I contact you by phone, or do we just have to run into each other at school when destiny randomly feels like it?"

The storm seems to be building in intensity. Right now it's just started to rain, but the thunder in the distance makes you think worse is coming. You spot Sachi making for the bus stop, while V... Vivian? is heading down the street, looks like she might be heading towards the museum? And Tai seems to be talking to Lance and the bandage guy that were at the park yesterday oh that might not be good.

Somnis freezes, her mustache now dangling half-off her face. "Vine-bears? What's a vine-bear? Are there vine-bears here?"

Alice's hair still looks nice, but it's clear she hasn't been taking the best care of it lately. She's quiet for a moment after you finish. "The final guardian, huh... Well... I suppose I can't say for sure that Mareena isn't Mercia, the one gathering all these souls... And even if she isn't, if she is the daughter of a Guardian she's more than able to collect souls herself." Alice sighs. "I don't suppose we can confirm... whether she's really on our side or plotting against us." Alice pauses again. "But that sounds really bad. Like the way the Otherworld is, outside of the few spots the Guardians have been able to preserve. Ah... Hm." She perks up a bit and smiles. "Maybe you should challenge her to a chess match, hm? See if you can't get inside her head. Though I admit I might get a bit jealous if you treat her like this if you win..."

She places the brush aside, and wraps her other arm around Alice. "I don't believe a chess game would work on Mareena anyway... I'll think of something. But for now, I'm focused on you. What else would you like to do together, hm?"
