"...I understand a bit less good now, but you can explain after lunch. I probably just can't think so good 'cause I'm hungry!" Katie grabs you by the arm and drags you into the restaurant.
It's not exactly cheap, but it is very worth the price. You eat a lot of stir fry. A lot. Katie eats more. Meanwhile, you mostly talk about animals and what happened at school the last few days. And animals. Mostly animals.
You leave the restaurant and back into the ever-worsening rain. Still no sign of lightning, but the wind and rain are relentless. Katie has to hold her angle almost sideways to shield the two of you from the rain. "What now?" she calls, shouting a bit to be heard over the wind. "I got all dressed up super-cute, after all..."

"Um, maybe something like, um... hm... Maybe we could go sit in the forest? There's plenty of big trees that provide a lot of shade. We might even see some bears. Or we could sit by the river and watch it rain... Or maybe out on the pier by the ocean? Oh, or out at the big empty field or the dam or up on the mountain or... um?"
