You give Alice a hug. She has absolutely no idea how to react and ends up freezing in place.
Then you get to studying. Alice steadily chips away at her work mountain while you get a few things done. She heats up some leftover something-or-other and you have a dinner break, then back to work.
The apartment phone rings when you're both getting close to finished. Alice answers. "Hello? Yes." She's silent as the voice on the other end speaks, but you can see her tense up. "I see. Good night." she says. You can tell she's making an effort to keep her voice level.
She hangs up and immediately slams her fist into the wall. Hard. You see it left a dent as she stands up and walks over to the window. She's still using that carefully measured tone. "It seems I have a lot of work to do in a very short time. I'm sorry to be a poor host, but I'm afraid I must ask you to leave for the night."

"Umm Alice if it's something I can help you with I don't mind staying,". "If it's something you want to talk about now or later call me if you want,". "But if you really want me to leave I will, and umm maybe see you in school tommorow and umm sorry if I did or said something to you that got you into trouble," Morgan says to Alice.
Morgan is more concerned about what has happened to Alice and why Alice is upset.
(Because punching a whole in the wall despite trying to keep an even tone is still a giveaway something is wrong.)

"It's... fine... Morgan," she says through grit teeth in a tone clearly means it's not fine. Speaking of clear meanings, she continues. "Do you know the way out, or shall I call you an escort?"

"No its fine I can see my way out umm thanks for everything," Morgan calmly leaves the room and heads home.
Morgan does her best to fight back tears in the elevator. She feels like crying for some reason but she doesn't know why and just seeing Alice in that state makes her feel hurt but she doesn't quite understand why she's upset.

As you leave, Alice is already going to work. She pulls out her phone, and Morgan catches the start of the conversation. "Ms. Evermore. I've finished the paperwork. ...Yes, really. I know it's awesome. Bring her tomorrow."

You gather your money and head to the pet adoption clinic downtown. One of the workers greets you at the front desk. "Hey there, little lady. What can I help you with?"

They hand you a few pieces of paper to sign. When you're done, they bring out a cat in a carrier. It meows at you.

You arrive at the fire station right around midnight. Just as expected, there's a portal sitting in front of the bay doors. While the one at the mall was light blue, this one is flashing orange and red.
Fox and Katie are waiting when you arrive. They wave as you approach, then jump in.
Somnis walks up behind you with an annoyed sigh. "They just dove right in. A fire zone, huh? This is gonna suck. Well, let's get it over with."
