This is it! Today is the day you finally get to head off and start your new life at Hope's Peak academy. You've been preparing for this day.
With both excitement and nervousness, you approach the towering Hope's Peak academy. This place sure is huge. Hopefully the other students here are nice.
Well. Here goes.
With your first step into the school you...suddenly feel dizzy. Your view of the world suddenly begins to warp and feel yourself lose consciousness.
...
...
Ngh...
You feel yourself regaining consciousness...
As you come to, you notice another student standing over you. She seems to be...poking your face. "Heyyyy...Are you gonna just nap there all day? We have an assembly!" As you get up, you notice she's wearing an explorer's hat. There's even a light in it. "Good! Looks like you can walk." You look to your side and notice another student only just now getting up. He's pretty short. "Alright. Let's get going then, both of you. I don't think our teachers would approve of napping in the halls, but I won't tell. We just need to avoid being late to our first assembly." She leads you both down the hallway and into a large gym.
Other students seem to be here already. Some are only just now entering like you.
"Ah, so is zis everyone?" A girl with an purple beret and empty quiver asks.
"Yeah, I mean we checked the whole floor so there's no way anyone else is here, right?" A boy with shorts and a red sweat jacket seems to be smiling despite this strange situation.
"Okay...? So what do we do now?" A girl with crazy hair's here too.
"Introductions don't seem like a bad idea. We could at least get acquainted with each other." A boy wearing formal clothing suggests this.
Hmm. Introductions? Well, first impressions are important. So you better make sure you introduce yourself properly!

Ah, introductions! Yes, Tucker has written extensively about that with his manifesto!
Patting his right pocket, where it always is, he notices a lack of the extremely thick book filled with his writings. In disbelief, Tucker will continue patting his pocket, until a look of terror strikes onto his face.
His manifesto is gone.
Holy crap. Holy crap. Holy crap. How was he supposed to make an introduction now without his carefully planned advice? Thinking he could scribble out a half decent speech, Tucker reaches into his left pocket.
THE NOTEBOOK IS GONE, TOO!?!?
How was he supposed to take notes of people's behavior to look back on later!?!? Panicked, Tucker looked down at his shirt pocket.
THE PENS AREN'T THERE!!!!!!!!
This was not supposed to happen. This was not supposed to happen.
Okay, calm down Tucker. Things can only get better, right? Wait, he should look it up in his manifesto.
Oh.
He didn't have that.
Tucker froze in place, not moving and barely breathing. HIS STUFF WAS GONE! Come on, how can everything go wrong so quickly!?!? Several of his personality projections were immediately crossed off his list. Or were they? BECAUSE THAT WAS IN THE MANIFESTO!!!
"I CAN'T MAKE AN INTRODUCTION! ALL OF MY NOTES ARE GONE!!! MY LIFE'S WORK HAS DISSAPEARED FROM MY GRASP!!!! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO MAKE FRIENDS WITHOUT MY RESEARCH!?!? OH GOD, I'LL SAY SOMETHING STUPID IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE CLASSROOM AND I'LL RUIN 99 PERCENT OF MY PROJECTED PATHWAYS IN SOME STUPID BURST OF EMOTION!!!"

The first to speak is a boy wearing a typical school uniform with a red trench coat over it. He's wearing a red mask, which is...strange. "My name is none of your business. You may call me by my Ultimate Title, Spy."
...Well. I guess that's an introduction. Kind of. The Ultimate Spy...And he's named Spy.
The guy with the sweat jacket is the next to speak up. "Hey! My name's Axel Forren! I'm the Ultimate Track Olympian! I like training and hanging around the beach!" He gives you all a thumbs up with a big smile on his face. This guy seems a little dense. His white hair is all messy and his blue eyes make contact with almost everyone in the room as he look around. His skin seems pretty tan. He must spend a lot of time outside. He's wearing a white shirt with a red line moving across the front diagonally. It jolts out a bit like a lightning bolt in the middle. He's also wearing the aforementioned red sweat jacket that seems to be provided by the school and blue gym shorts. To top it all off, he's got red and white sneakers on.
The next to speak is the flashy girl with an overly complex updo. "Well then. My name is Ashley Xeret. Some of you may have heard of me. I am the Ultimate Actress after all. Don't worry, there's still plenty of time to join my fan club." She blinks her eyes as if to be aloof, showing off her long eyelashes. They're probably fake. She's got a lot of purple eye shadow on. Actually, she seems a little heavy on the makeup. She's got purple lipstick too. You notice her crazy hair is purple as well. She must like purple. Her green eyes contrast against this interestingly. She seems to be wearing a variety of silver jewelry with green gems on them. A fluffy, purple boa hangs loosely around her neck and she's wearing a blue dress with a slit going from the bottom up to her thigh. Is she...wearing heels? It must be impossible to move around in those.
The next student takes a moment. She seems almost like she's hesitating slightly. You notice she's wearing a melon hat and a suit. She's got long, red hair and green eyes and wears a cute little bowtie. Her face has a lot of freckles on it. She seems to make a decision and dramatically motions with her umbrella she's been carrying. "My name is Vicky Van Houtten." She bows. "Six years ago, I lost a talent show for being too young." She moves around as if dancing and then looks down dramatically. "I then became a teen model for photographs." She grabs a nearby chair, spinning it around and sitting in it before posing as if getting a picture taken. "I am what you call a prop dancer." She dances around with her umbrella.
Her act suddenly ends as she loses the character and takes on a much more serious face. "Now I'm here. People usually want to know what I am instead of who I am, so I guess that's it."
You sort of introduce yourself by screaming about your missing supplies.
An unremarkable looking girl looks at you curiously and then speaks. "Huh...You must be the Ultimate Geopolitical Analyst, Tucker Rally." You momentarily wonder how the hell she knows that.
The boy sitting next to you seems a little frustrated and leans forward, toward you. "Come here. Jeez. Let me touch you up a bit. Just a little touch-up should really help you make more of an impression. Don't worry, no one will even notice," he says, oblivious to the fact everyone would know considering it's in front of everyone. He produces a small compact mirror and a brush from his makeup kit he wears, then changes his mind and pulls out a different one. He begins to work on your stunned face.
"Ah, the Ultimate Makeup Artist, Samuel Weber!" Did this girl look everyone up before she came here or something...? Sam seems to be on the short side. His hair is in a black pixie cut and he wears a white shirt with black trousers.
The room's attention moves toward the girl that keeps saying everyone's name and talent. "O-Oh...Hey! I uh...Kinda looked everyone up before I got here. I hope you don't mind. I was just curious is all..." She seems a little embarrassed. Upon closer inspection, you notice she's got brown hair that goes down to just above her shoulders, held in place by a black headband. Her eyes are also brown. She looks surprisingly average. She's wearing a pink shirt with a black Hope's Peak sweater over it along with a white and pink pattern skirt. She's got pink and white sneakers on as well. The only other interesting detail is a string necklace with a white heart pendant on it. "Well, I'm Vivian Hildebrand. I'm...not actually an Ultimate. Well, technically I am I guess. I was selected randomly to go here as the Ultimate Lucky Student. Heheh..." She seems uncomfortable, as if she wants to attention to shift away from her.
Deciding to shift the attention onto herself, a girl wearing a white button shirt, red and black skirt, and long, black overcoat steps forward. Her hair is long and blonde and her butterfly clip compliments her blue eyes nicely. You notice she has long, red fake nails which stand out and her sneakers have a butterfly pattern. "My name is Leanne Arden. I am the Ultimate Detective." With that done, she steps back and waits for the next introduction.
The formally dressed boy from before takes the floor afterward. "Hello, everyone. My name is Claus Schwarz. I am known as the Ultimate Butler and I hope we can all get along." He bows to you all. He seems to wear typical butler attire with a black and red suit on. His hair is long and black, being slicked back so you can see his red eyes. His skin seems unusually pale. He's wearing white gloves as well.
The next to be introduced is a girl with dark skin and black hair worn in one long braid. Her purple eyes match the beret worn on her head. She's wearing a green top along with a brown vest over it that's decorated by multiple buttons and medals. She's also wearing brown shorts along with boots. Her hands are covered by brown leather gloves that cover her index finger, middle finger, and thumb, but leave the others free. She's got a purple bracelet on one of her wrists as well. She's got an empty quiver tied around her waist. You feel like it should have arrows in it. You feel like she should have a bow. "Allo, it is good to meet you all. My name is Amelia Renaud, ze Ultimate Archer. I expect zis is going to be a wonderful year, no?" She speaks with a French accent.
Next to speak is a girl wearing an explorer's hat with a light in it. "Hey guys! Nice to meet you all! My name is Sylvia Lloyd. I'm the Ultimate Archaeologist. Hopefully we can get along." Along with her hat, you notice she's got orange hair pulled back into a ponytail and amber eyes. Her skin looks tan like the Olympian's and she's got a single beauty mark on the left side of her chin. She's wearing an orange shirt with a brown vest zipped up over it. The vest has...an absurd number of pockets on it. She's also got cargo shorts and hiking boots on. Finally, she has a green backpack on her back. It's probably full of archaeology junk.
A boy wearing a gas mask then steps forward. All you can really see in his face is that he's got red eyes. His blonde hair seems kinda whispy and burned at the ends. He's wearing a red and orange flame pattern jumpsuit along with an ash colored hoodie that's unzipped over the top. Strangely, he's wearing dark blue boots. Even stranger, he's got white gauze wrapped around his neck. "Getting acquainted would help us figure out what is going on," He says in a hushed voice. "I heard Hope's Peak was eccentric, but I certainly wasn't expecting something like this," He adds with a sigh. "Though I guess I've talked around it enough, my name is Dennis Allerdyce. I came here as the Ultimate Pyro." He pauses for a second. "But I'm not one for titles. I prefer just to go by Den."
The student dressed as a wolf then steps forward. He seems skeptical of everyone. Actually...is he sniffing at you? "Hm. Air smells weird." You notice he's got a headband with fake wolf ears on. It matches his gray hair so it fits in almost seamlessly. His hair's a bit on the longer side and a complete mess. Under it, you notice yellow eyes. He's got a white T shirt on with a fuzzy hooded jacket worn over it. He's also wearing blue jeans. Oh. There's a wolf tail attached to the back. It's probably fake. But he might think it's real. He's a little weird. You notice he's also...wearing sandals for some reason. "My name is Masahiko Sato. I am the Ultimate Werewolf! I come from Japan, but I was raised in the forest...with wolf family!" Eh...okay.
A girl wearing a yukata that was previously deep in thought steps forward and recites what seems to be a haiku.
"Hi, nice to meet you. Ultimate Haiku Poet Aki Haruhi."
Aki gives a polite bow. Her yukata is very colorful and contains a floral pattern with a white sash. Her black hair is long and her bangs almost cover her blue eyes.
Next to step forward is a student that's dressed similar to a doctor. "Hello there. My name is James Wilson. I am the Ultimate Doctor. Should any of you feel sick or get injured, please come to me. I will do my best to help you." His short, brown hair seems to be well kept and his eyes are almost an emerald color. He has a black tie and a white doctor's overcoat along with white pants. He also wears glasses on his face and a stethoscope around his neck. Strangely enough, he's wearing a black T shirt. Seems a little casual for a doctor. Well, I guess he's technically a high school student, so it's probably fine. You notice he's also got a few pens in his coat chest pocket.
The last one to introduce herself is a short girl with long, purple hair and glasses. Her hair seems to be in her face. Not because she's wearing it like that, but rather because she's leaning forward and looking down, deep in thought. As you all stare at her, Amelia speaks to her. "Um...Excuse me, but I believe it is your turn."
The girl looks up at you all, revealing her gray eyes. She lets out a small sigh. "I suppose it was inevitable that it would come to me. I have no interest in any of you and would prefer to get back to work on my research, so the quicker this is over with, the better." You notice she's wearing a black button shirt with the Hope's Peak symbol on the chest along with a white and black skirt. She also has long, white socks that go up to her knees and black shoes. Over everything, however, she wears a white labcoat that is just...far too large for her. There's a few small test tubes in her pockets for some reason. "Erika Araya. Ultimate Chemist." She then returns to her thoughts.

Tucker will approach James.
"Hey, can you spare one of those pens? I gotta take some notes."

With the introductions over, you ask James for a pen.
"Hm...? Of course. Here, help yourself." He places a pen into your hand. "It's important to take notes so you don't forget what you've learned in class." He smiles. It's a very casual smile that somehow makes you feel more relaxed.
"Now that everyone has introduced themselves, does anyone have any idea where the teachers and school officials are? If this is just how they introduce new students, it's a very strange way of doing it." Spy is still Standing Calm. Listening to him talk a bit more, you notice a faint French accent.
...Now that you think about it...You haven't seen anyone else here at all. That is strange. No teachers or even other students. Just the sixteen of you...
"...Wait. Seriously!? Nobody's seen a single teacher in this school?" Ashley's eyes go wide.
Axel laughs it off. "Hey, guys, no big deal! This is probably just a stupid joke. Maybe they're screwing with us because we're new!"
"If zis is a joke, it 'as gone too far. Ze teachers should be 'ere." Amelia seems slightly annoyed that the school would mess with everyone like that.
Haha...right. This is definitely a joke.
"Oh, I don't believe it's a joke at all."
A general look of surprise falls over the room as the others look over to Claus. Masahiko leers at him. "You smell like you know something..."
"Well of course I do. After all, I seem to be the only one that bothered to check the school before coming directly to the gym." Despite the words being harsh, Claus' tone is oddly respectful at the same time. "Did any of you notice that the windows are covered in barbed wire?"
What the...?
"Or maybe the fact that the exit is sealed shut? None of the doors outside open."
A silence befalls the room as everyone takes in this new information. What could this possibly mean...?
Suddenly, a new voice is heard from within the gym.
"Never fear! Nekoshi is here!"
The students all turn their focus toward the front of the gymnasium as the tense air thickens.
Jumping up from seemingly nowhere, a mysterious creature appears.
A black and white cat.
"Greetings, students! I am the headmaster of this school, Nekoshi!" This strange cat seems to be half white, half black, and one hundred percent annoying. One of its eyes is...an unsettling red. It also has a bell on its neck.
What...is this?
Vivian stares at Nekoshi in shock. "Wait, y-you're not...You're not the headmaster."
Nekoshi flashes her an annoyed glare. "Oh, I'm not? Then who is?"
"It's..." She then becomes silent with an even more surprised look on her face. "...I...I don't remember...! What...?"
"Hahahaha!" Nekoshi laughs at her. "That's riiiiiiight! I stole your memories, Vivian! Don't worry, I'm only borrowing them! You can have them back if you survive!"
Leanne then steps forward. "What exactly do you mean by 'if you survive'?" She sounds so cool and detective-y. It's kind of admirable.
"What do I mean? What do I MEAN?" Nekoshi pauses a moment. He then bursts into laughter. "Aaahahahaha! I mean exactly what I said! If Vivian escapes this place alive, she can have her memories back!"
A drop of nervous sweat can be seen running down Amelia's forehead. "...Are you meaning to tell us zat you plan on..." She freezes, unable to finish that sentence.
"Oh, of course not! I'd never kill you!" Nekoshi pauses. "You're going to kill each other!"
...What!?
"HA! You should see your faces! You all look so shocked!"
Amelia continues speaking, seemingly more nervous. This whole situation feels so...off. "...So you mean to tell us...zat was a joke...?"
Axel gives a look of disapproval and crosses his arms. "Come on, dude. Jokes like that are in poor taste."
"Nnnnnnope! Nopenopenope! NOPE! This is in no way a joke! It couldn't be! In fact, I couldn't be more serious!"
A lightbulb seems to go off in Claus' head. "Does this have something to do with our inability to leave the building?"
"Ding ding ding! That's correct! The only way out of here is to kill each other!"
The air suddenly goes stagnant.
"Don't worry! I won't let it be a slaughterfest! We are a civilized people with rules to follow! In fact, I'll tell you all about the rules you need to follow! Just open up your Student E-Handbooks!"
Our...huh? You reach into your pocket and pull out what looks like some kind of tiny touchpad. You push the power button and as you do so, your name appears on the screen. The handbook immediately displays these so called rules that Nekoshi is explaining to you.
"Rule #1! Students are to live the rest of their lives within Hope's Peak Academy! That means...NONE OF YOU CAN LEAVE! Hahahaha! Oh, but we already talked about that one. Let's talk about the other rules. Rule #2! Any violence toward headmaster Nekoshi may be met with severe punishment! Rule #3! The pool and the dining hall will be closed off at nighttime! Rule #4! Headmaster Nekoshi will not interfere with the daily life of the students unless one of the rules are violated! This means that your investigation of the school will go unhindered so long as you obey the rules! Rule #5! If a student kills another student, they will become the Blackened and will be able to escape should they get away with it! Rule #6! When a murder has taken place, a Class Trial will be held! If the Blackened is caught, they will be punished and students may continue their daily life! However...if you get it wrong then everyone BESIDES the Blackened will be punished!" You notice there's another rule stating that more rules may be put in place whenever Nekoshi sees fit.
Vivian begins to speak as she stares at the rules in disbelief. "...Punished...? What...What do you mean by that!?"
"Oh, well. To put it simply...Execution."
The room goes silent once more.
"Any questions? No? Okay then! Have a wonderful day everyone!"
Before anyone could even ask anything, Nekoshi disappeared just as quickly as he appeared.
You were all left alone in the gym, facing an unreal predicament. You were trapped in this school and...and the only was out is...murder.
...It was at that moment, the true terror of the situation struck you.
The others in the room all began to glance around at each other, hiding their suspicion and searching for others' intentions.
The comfortable atmosphere that had begun to form between you all has shattered within moments. It's as if...as if someone took your hope and slammed it with a hammer. Over and over. Until all that was left was this empty feeling of...despair.
As the situation dawns on Axel, his face goes pale. "Th-This...This...If this isn't a joke then...G-GAAAAAHHHHH!" He lets out a shout in panic.
Most of the others are too stunned to move.
What...What do you even do from here?

Tucker wrotes Monokuma's entire speech on his hand, in sloppier than usual handwriting because of his uncontrollable shaking.
"I have no control over this situation..." Tucker says, glancing at the speech on his hand. "Holy crap. Holy crap. Holy crap. Holy crap. My manifesto is gone. We're going to have to murder each other. Wait,"
Tucker takes a deep breath.
"NOBODY IS GOING TO KILL ANYONE!"
Yeah, yeah, there we go. That'll make his reputation better. Yeah, put on a brave face over that shivering. Yeah ...

The silence is broken as Spy loses his composure. "What. The. Hell." He just stands there, trying to process what he's been told. "Why would any sensible human murder a classmate?"
You write on your hand and shout that nobody's going to get killed.
Vivian uncomfortably shifts as she speaks. "Is that a prediction or...?"
James calls out to everyone. "Everyone remain calm. Panicking will get us nowhere."
"WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE HEEEERRRREEE!" Sylvia immediately starts to panic as he tells her not to.
Dennis bursts out laughing. "What are you so afraid of? A STUFFED CAT!? Or maybe you're more terrified the butler is going to stab you in your sleep. Though option three is most interesting. Are you just scared that you're nowhere near clever enough to get away with murder?"
This isn't particularly funny," Sam says gruffly.
"What the hell is wrong with you...!?" Ashley is disgusted.
Things begin to quiet down a bit as Aki steps forward. Her determined stare catches everyone's attention.
"Panic is wasteful Remain calm, and united We will find a way."
She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath before continuing.
"Together we shall Formulate a plan about Our next group action."
Everyone seems to calm down a bit with that.
As the room settles a bit, Sam heads over to the location where Nekoshi was. "Hey, uh... Sato. You said you were raised by wolves?"
Sato seems surprised to be called out. He nods.
"Come see if you can track that cat-thing."
"Oh. Not a bad idea..." He heads over to where Sam is standing and sniffs around. "Hm...? This is strange. Smells like...cat is still here. Or maybe..." He sniffs closer to the ground. "...!? Under the floor!"
Leanne seems to be contemplating this for a moment. "Nekoshi must have been a machine, right? So maybe he's hidden under the floor when he's not being used. Whoever's controlling him must store him there."
Amelia nods. "Ah, zis makes sense. After all, it would make it so zat whoever is controlling him could avoid 'aving us destroy zeir little toy when 'e is not around."
Axel seems to have calmed down a bit. "I got an idea! What if we searched around the school? There's gotta be some way outta here, right? Let's split up and looks around!"
Investigating the school doesn't seem like a bad idea. You might find a way out if you look thoroughly enough...
You take a quick look around the gym to understand your surroundings. Bleachers can be seen on either side of the gym and at the back is a platform with a podium, likely used for speeches. It's where Nekoshi was previously. In the back left of the room you can see two doors marked with male and female signs. They must be locker rooms. Looking at the front of the gym, there's two doors you can head out. Both lead out to the hall as far as you can tell. There's also a storage closet in here. Likely, sports equipment would be kept inside, but then again...it might not be a bad idea to thoroughly check everything.

Poke around the bleachers. See if we can get under them.

You check around the bleachers, poking and prodding them at every angle. There certainly aren't any secret compartments. You do, however, find that these bleachers are retractable. Ahh, it makes some sense. After all, you could retract the bleachers into the wall and have more space for gym activities. You try your best to remember the location of the buttons on the side that control the bleachers. Moving around the back, you find that it is possible to climb underneath the bleachers from the side. You check out the underside. Nothing really stands out to you. You get a better look at how the bleachers close and open using an electronic mechanism, but that is all. It seems you can get in and out from under the bleachers on either side of them.

You ask the bleachers if you're going to meet back up in the gym after searching around. They don't respond.

Oh, yeah, he's supposed to say that to people. Goddangit, he wouldn't make mistakes like this if he had his manifesto...
Who's still in the gym?

You crawl out from under the bleachers and get a look around the gym.
Aki, Sam, and Sylvia are all talking near the locker rooms.
Spy and Leanne are talking in front of the open storage closet.
Vicky and Claus are watching everyone else in the room closely.
Ashley is standing around, touching up her makeup.

Tucker will straighten his posture and approach Vicky.
"Uh, hi. You're Vicky, right? Ultimate prop dancer? I'm Tucker, the Ultimate Geopolitical Analyst. Wanna search together? You seem like an interesting person."
Smile on face, hand extended, warm exterior. Perfect presentation.

Vicky looks at you for a bit, sizing you up. She then grabs your hand, shaking it and performing a bow.
"That's right... I don't about you, but I have no plans of killing anyone. I'm gonna survive though. What do you say we find where the food is stored so we don't die of hunger?"
As she makes this suggestion, you both freeze. You hear what sounds like shouting coming from the locker rooms!
The attention in the room quickly shifts over to that area as Leanne goes running over toward the locker rooms. Ashley is no longer busy with her makeup and freezes up, staring in the direction of the shout. "You don't think...s-somebody was murdered already!?"
Claus' look of indifference toward the situation is replaced with one of possible interest.
