Howling Cliffs

Levi, Morgan

Levi unleashes his tail on all of the enemies at once, dealing devastating damage to the linked fish.  Morgan finishes one, dancing around it with her swords.  Somnis finishes the other, reappear to stab it in the side.  Meanwhile, Tom wallops the crab with his chain.

The crab looks dejected.  The spear Tia threw comes falling back down, striking the crab.  She winds up another spear to pierce through its defense.  The crab starts burrowing into the sand and disappears as the spear thuds into the ground behind it.

"Aw, it got away..." Tia hisses.

Obtained Light Scale x3, Fish Eye x1

"That should be enough to make some stuff," Somnis says.  "But we can fight a bit more if you want some practice."

Tom is standing to the side, muttering about that stupid crab.


Leia, Tai

Natsumi's cat fires off a gust of wind at the crab.  It seems pretty effective.  Tai starts shooting at one of the fish, leaving it injured.  Buttons follows up to bash the same fish.  It's badly injured, but starts healing the worst of its injuries.  The other fish bashes Tai.

Mattea keeps herself busy stomping on the crab to little avail, even when she steps back and slices it with her folding fan.  The crabs's starting to look worn down, but not on the verge of death.

Leia pulls out a scroll with a picture of a crab on it, matching the one you're fighting.  She drops the scroll and a real crab scuttles out.  It looks like it's fighting on your side!  It walks up towards the other crab and flicks out its claw.  The enemy crab mirrors it.  The two look content to fight each other like this...


Arcadia, Dewey

Dewey fires a bolt at the fish.  Arcadia follows up with a slash with her magic sword, then Fox finishes it off with his scythe.

Katie stomps towards the crab.  Kiran runs over to bar her path.  "No, Katie!  Bad girl!"  He reaches out and swats her on the snout.  Katie growls, barrels through him, and proceeds to slash at the crab.

The crab's shell has a few visible cracks, but it's still standing tall.  It takes a defensive stance in front of the fish.  It's plotting something...

Before Kiran can pick himself up, the giant fish leaps out of the water and slams him down again.

"O-o-o-ow...  Why...?" he groans.  He's pretty hurt.

"Hm." Tai frowns. He jumps up and unleashes a Storm Surge on the same fish he attacked before, commited to seeing its death.

Leia will use Light Aura Spread

Defend, I guess. Even if Mystic Bolt could hit the fish behind it because it's a lightning bolt striking from above (but I'm not sure if the battle system works that way) the fact that it's readying something and I'm a squishy Mage is a dangerous combination.

Tai, Leia

Annoyed, Tai shoots a storm of bullets at the fish, glowing from Buttons' light.  Leia follows behind him, bashing it with a burst of light that expands and seems to just explode the fish.

The crabs continue to circle each other.  Dramatically.  They futilely flick their claws at each other.  Buttons walks up and bashes the evil crab in the back of the head.  Natsumi fires a stream of small spirits at it while her spooky ghost cat shoots a fireball at it.  Mattea flicks out her fan and slices it, finishing it off.

Mattea wipes some sweat from her brow as the Leia's fake-crab fades.  "Ah.  Well.  That was... annoying.  Now what?  Do we have enough materials to make the... whatever it was we needed?  Or do we need to hunt more?"


Arcadia, Dewey

Dewey defends himself.  So does Fox.  Kiran quietly loads something into his sleeve while he thinks nobody's watching.

Katie and Arcadia go after the fish.  They attack from either side.  Arcadia swings her magic blades and slices the fish.  The crab immediately leaps at her, quick as a bullet.  It latches on and starts hacking at her face with its claws.  Katie swings her claws and hits the fish, and the crab immediately springboards off Arcadia's chest and onto Katie to bash away at her instead.

The fish adds insult to injury as it heals what damage it took.  The crab finishes its attack and slowly scuttles over to Dewey.  It flicks its claws at him.  Menacingly.  His shins hurt, but he manages to keep his cool.


Morgan

Morgan sends a ferret scout out to... scout.  There's nothing really to scout, though.  Since it's a wide-open beach with a sheer cliff.  She can see pretty much anything on land, and neither her nor the ferret can see into the dark-red water.  She could send it running up the cliff path, if she wants.


Levi

Levi walks up to one of the shinier rocks and punches it a bit.  It cracks and he manages to pull off a small chunk.  So shiny...  So pretty...  It glimmers so beautifully in the sun...

Levi obtained Prismatic Ore x1

Somnis and Tia are talking quietly to each other about something and not really paying attention.

Tom walks over to Levi.  "What's that you've got there?  Oh, wow.  That's really pretty.  So you can... use that to enhance something you make, right?  I wonder what a full set made from that would look like, though."  He stares at another deposit.  "Maybe... I should collect some for Alice...  She'd never admit it to your face, but she loves pretty things like this."

Dewey takes a step back (clumsily, I can't imagine walking would be easy when your shins just got smacked by a giant crab's claws) and electrocutes the Slothful Surfer.
