You step through the portal and find yourself in a large mailroom. A pair of people are sorting letters into various boxes.
One is a young woman, probably in her mid-teens. She has short-cut pink hair dyed pink and is wearing a T-shirt with a picture of three... ugh... dogs on it.
The other is a brown-haired man with a large forehead split be a noticeable widow's peak. He wears a business suit and a creepy grin.
"This is boring..." the girl says.
"Boring?" the man asks. His head begins to enlarge slightly. "You think doing your job is boring? What is wrong with you? Is the pride of doing an amazing job not exciting enough for you!?" His head doubles in size by the time it's done. He continues his work like nothing happened.
"I guess... Hey, I'm not sure where this letter goes. Who is 'Justice-slash-Kitty-slash-etc?'" the girl asks.
The man takes it, examines it, and tosses it towards the trash. The winds catches it and it flutters to land at your feet.
You look back at the portal you came from. It's showing a picture of a smiling cat and dog. Lies.

"Oh, hello... Mr. Person I don't know. This is Vitcorp." She stares at your ears, then very obviously leans to stare at your tail. "Are... Are those... real?"
Ranulf walks through the portal, carrying Awkward in a box. "Ugh, what a pain... Hey, you forgot this thing. Figured I owed you for busting me out, so I should at least do this much for you."
Awkward continues to be a limp ragdoll. But now with a few loose feathers on his back.
Katie looks at the new arrival with just as much interest.
She... looks ready to burst.

Walk over to Boxward and look at him. "WAKE UP!" Kick the box. "I feel like he might be dead."
Look back up at Ranulf. "...You're so cute. Do you wanna be my new partner?"

"Hey! You can't just leave in the middle of your shift!" the guy with the enlarged head yells after her.
"I mean... I'm freakin' adorable, but..." Ranulf says. "I don't really have anything better to do, bu-u-u-ut, why's going with you a better idea than just wandering around by myself?"

After the TOTAL HELL Boxward has been through, he takes his damn time waking up, and even longer just trying to get out of the box (due to his overall poor and slightly depressing fictional universe motor skills). Awkward looks around with an expression void of all emotion, then holds Just's hand, THEN proceeds to start taking a nap while still holding hands. At least he'll walk about with you? Although this almost feels like having a toddler on a leash...

Awkward gets up and takes your hand. Ranulf takes that chance to escape. He takes a few steps back with his hands up defensively. "Easy there, tiger. I don't even know your name."
