Vitcity Mall

Awkward

You walk into the mall and find yourself in front of a pet adoption clinic.  A set of iron bars is blocking the way from the portal towards the rest of the mall, but when you poke them, they give and bend like they're made out of rubber.

Awkward

You bend the bars apart and step through.

This place looks eerily familiar to Tab.  Like someone took the mall he's used to, changed a few stores, and shuffled everything around.

"Oh, hey!  It's the mall, Master!" Katie says.

As you walk through, you notice a poofy orange cat sitting on the railing of the upper floor.  It drops down and rubs against Katie's leg while purring, then slinks off into the clinic.

There's a creepy fountain in the middle of the mall.  Katie looks at it uncomfortably.

From here, you can see entrances to a cafe and an arcade, as well as stairs leading down into pitch-black darkness.  The mall entrance is off in the distance.  Way above you, you can hear some voices speaking from around where you'd find the White Wing Fortune Hut.

Several people are hanging around the fountain.  A wolf guy.  A young woman with blue-and-black hair in black glasses with a red-tipped walking stick.  Tia.  A deer-girl.  A girl with huge pink twintails.  Mattea.  And another black-haired young woman who looks kinda familiar.  Actually, she looks a lot like one of the characters from that weird fighting game near your hideout...

Awkward

"As much as I would fucking love that," Mattea says, "I can't leave this stupid fucking mall.  Any time I try to get close to that stupid fucking portal, I get zapped.  And that stupid fucking cat-thing says if I try to leave, it'll just fucking kill me."

She seems upset by this.

The girl with the cane stares ahead.  "We can't leave until... half of us are dead.  We already lost... two of the sixteen.  Oh, no.  Do you... um...  How many of you are there?"

"Nope!  They don't count!"  You whirl around to see a black-and-white robot cat with a glowing red eye sitting behind you.  "Don't worry, they're just visitors!  Now would you morons hurry up and get busy finishing the killing game so we can get on to the friendship game!?"

Awkward

"You can massacre them if you want, but you have to get away with the murder, too!  Once a body or bodies are found, we'll have a trial!  If everyone can figure out who did it, they get punished!  But if they get it wrong, everyone else gets punished and the winner gets to leave!" Nekoshi explains to Awkward.  "So you could kill everyone, if you want!  As for other conditions...  Oh, there's no rule against me saying this!  If you manage to track down and kill the mastermind, the game would end!  But the odds of that are astronyaaaamicomically low!  Nyahaha!  Sorry, I'm not even allowed to confirm that he or she's in this world, much less one of these 14!"

Awkward

You head down the stairs into the creepy basement.

The darkness is overpowering.  You can't see anything.  Actually, something's funny here.  The light from up the stairs is just... disappearing.  And you can hear something moving around in the darkness.


Tab and Katie head to the cafe.  It's a nice little coffee shop.  Inside is a rabbit-girl and a robot bear similar to the cat.  He can hear someone else moving around in the back, probably cooking or something.

Katie sulks.  "Why did Master send me away?  Did I do something wrong?"

I give a lot of leeway as to what you can make, but I draw the line at making a flashlight out of darkness.

Awkward

You walk forward into the blackness, feeling along the wall with a shield up. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

You can hear indecipherable whispering and feel something brush against your leg.


The robo-bear looks depressed. "I dunno. Normally I'd be the one running this game, but not this time. It's so frustrating, y'know? To be stuck here. At the mercy of my incompetent feline replacement. Sure, he got a murder to occur almost immediately, but it was just a fluke. He's not even into this murder game. So disappointing."

The rabbit's ears flop. "Ugh. This guy's such a downer. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the mastermind isn't one of the players. And I'm a great judge of character. I think they're hiding somewhere else."
