Tai, Leia
Leia runs at the crab, smashing it with a burst of light. Tai comes at it from the other side, turns his guns into swords, and strikes it several times. He feels a stabbing pain afterward as his Curse triggers. Alice's sword glows red as she lunges from the front. She stabs deep into the monster, only for it to shake her off and send her flying with its claw. Mercia catches Alice, her hand glowing blue as she holds it over Alice's chest.
"Hold on, Tai..." Natsumi says. Another spirit pops up around Tai, and it and the green creature heal him. The cat hops up and hisses, a stalagmite bursting from the ground below the crab. It staggers back again, flailing its claws weakly.
"...Almost. Just a bit more," Mercia says.

"Thank you Natsu-girl for protecting us all!"
Leia seems to start being exhausted from this fight, her fear of her drawing becoming true more and more apparent in her eyes. Her low confidence visibly fading away.
"This... This has to be over soon... I feared this for a week... I just want this to be over..."
Leia will use Panic Scream.
Panic Scream: Leia starts screaming in panic so hard, that she sends a sonic shockwave at a single enemy, but inflicts Silence on herself. [Jimmy 2]

Alice leaps out of Mercia's arms and back into the fight, stabbing the creature's leg into the ground. Tai opens fire with both guns, alternating different types of fire. Once again, chunks go flying off the crab - though these look less like chunks of shell and more like chunks of flesh. Natsumi holds up her palm and a small circle appears. What looks like a shadowy orb with eyes darts out and smashes into the crab before her cat follows up the attack.
Two figures burst out of the portal, two of the black-armored troopers that were fighting that big group of crabs. "We managed to drive them off!" the one with the sword and shield yells. "The others are watching Monarch, we'll back you-"
"Ah, that's not good," the one with the greatsword says, quieter.
Leia screams at the crab. As she screams, cracks start form in its body, growing, expanding, and starting to pulse and glow with a green light.
"I was afraid of this..." Mercia says. She glances over her shoulder, shifts to the side, then kneels down. "Get behind me. NOW." There's an urgency in her voice that you haven't heard before.

Tai takes a second to assess the situation and internally groans.
"Do what the angel bitch days, just this once!"
Tai will make sure his friends get behind Mercia first, and if anyone hesitates/is unable to, he'll attempt to shield them.

Leia, seemingly unable to speak, tries to use a scroll on Mercia, but it just fades away before activating.
She silently get behind Mercia.

Natsumi wastes no time getting behind Mercia. Alice hesitates, and Mercia grabs her by the shoulder and tosses her back behind herself. The two in armor go running, the one with the sword and shield grabbing hold of Alice and quickly helping her up. The one with the greatsword stabs it into the ground, holding onto it with their elbow and wrapping a leg around it so they can grab Tai and Leia.
Mercia changes back into that form you're more familiar with, larger and with more wings. A pale green barrier forms around her as she stands on the ground. She holds out a hand and shapes the barrier into a cone, aimed at the writhing leech.
The leech bursts apart in a huge explosion. A green core remains in place for a moment, a powerful wind blasting off of it as it shrinks. The trees in a wide arc are uprooted and flung from the ground by the force, with leaves and branches flung from those that didn't bear the brunt of the blast.
Even behind Mercia, the force of the wind is incredible. You're nearly flung from your feet. If you didn't have someone holding on to you, you're not sure you could have stayed in place. Natsumi starts sliding back, only for the one with the shield to toss their sword aside to step in front of her, raising the shield to try to make a bit more cover. Natsumi drops to her knees and clings onto Alice, the two managing to stay in place behind the armor together.
After what feels like an eternity, the wind stops. Mercia falls to her knees, panting. All around you is devastation and damaged forest. When you look back, you see a cone of trees that are relatively untouched. Tracks of grass in the plains at the foot of the mountain have been flattened with chunks of tree scattered about, but it looks like everything in the direction of the city itself is in comparatively good condition. Above, you can see even the clouds have been pushed apart by the blast.

Tai takes it in for a moment.
"Fuck... is everyone okay!? Leia, Natty, Alice!?"
He glances up at Mercia and the other people. He's keeps his hands close to his guns, jsut in case.

(Do status effects stop after battles or they have to be healed? I'm gonna have Leia still be silent for now, since it's her first time getting Silence, but that would be good to know)
Leia, tries to say something, but no sound comes out of her mouth. She just runs to Natsumi and hug her, crying on her shoulder.
It is unclear if they are relief tears or fear tears.

(They end shortly after battle, but are you still in battle?)
Natsumi holds Leia and pats her head. "I'm fine."
"Mm," Alice grunts in affirmation.
"I'm fine too, thanks for asking," the one with the greatsword says. "So this is Leia in this costume, hm? What a cute outfit."
Natsumi shifts around Leia protectively. "Don't you dare lay a hand on Leia!"
"We're going to pretend we didn't hear that," Mercia commands. "Understood?"
"I don't... Right, pretend. OK." Sword and shield shrugs.
Greatsword covers their mouth and lets out a robotic giggle. "Sorry, sorry. This isn't exactly the time for teasing, is it?"
"What the Hell was that?" Alice demands.
"Aether. Concentrated aether," Mercia says. "Leeches release whatever they've collected when they die."
"You knew this would happen?"
"Yes... and no. The explosion's usually... nothing like that. At all." Mercia trails off. "I only realized how bad it was going to be at the last second. That leech must have absorbed a tremendous amount of aether."
"It's the difference between a hand grenade and a nuke..." SnS says.
Greatsword stares off towards the horizon. "Looks like the city was spared the worst of the damage!" they announce cheerfully.
"That's nice..." Mercia mutters. "And now I have an inkling as to what might cause the disaster I foresaw..." She sighs heavily and weakly points off in the distance. "I doubt the buses are going to be in service. The Vitcorp ski resort's not far that way. The mountain slope should have shielded it. They'll give you a safe place to sleep for the night and help arrange transportation in the morning."
Alice folds her arms and stares.
Natsumi continues to stroke Leia's hair.

Tai glares defiantly at them. "We... still don't know if we can trust you. Even if your whole 'preventing the end of the world shit' is true, your means so far haven't been... inspiring." His grip stays on his pistol, and he makes sure that he's in front/between the others and Mercia and co.
"If you want us trust you, you have to show some signs of being fucking trustworthy first."

"By, I dunno, shielding the city or something?" Shield asks. "Jeez, ungrateful-"
"Hush." Mercia starts to rise from her knees, then grunts in pain and sinks back down, clutching her other arm. "Ngh... I'm don't expect any thanks. Especially when I'm partly to blame for causing this."
"I wouldn't mind a thank you," Greatsword says. "I'm entirely blameless in all this."

Leia wipes her tears, smiling to Natsumi, then turn to the robot guys and seems to go on a rant, but no sound comes out of her, seemingly too concentrated by her outrage to even notice she still cannot talk.

Mercia and her troops sit and let Leia rant. Halfway through her speech, she feels a hug from behind and hears a small giggle. "Leia-person, we can't hear you."
"But I'm sure whatever you were trying to say was very complimentary." Greatsword wrenches their weapon out of the ground and bows dramatically.
"If you'll excuse us... I need to go get my arm treated." Mercia rises again, slower this time.
Greatsword chuckles. "An arm for a city's still a good deal."
"If there's nothing else?" Mercia asks.
"Get out of my sight, monster," Alice spits.
Mercia freezes, probably to give the others a chance to speak up.
