Tai

"Hell yeah we would! We definitely-" Mattea gets cut off as the elevator dings. The display shows it at the top floor. Everyone in the elevator tenses and stares at the door. There's a soft, metallic groaning sound and the elevator rattles softly. Mattea whispers under her breath. "...Don't."

The elevator drops and she shrieks. Buttons and Jimmy both latch onto the sides. It stops after only an inch or two, and the door slides open. Jimmy adjusts his hat. "Wow, th-

"Oh, thank FUCK!" Mattea yells and dives out of the door. She crashes into what is clearly a cartoonish plastic skeleton with a doofy grin and shrieks again. She flails about, winding up completely tangled in the mess of bones and the cords that were holding them together.

Buttons tilts his head to the side as he steps out of the elevator, looks like he's about to say something, then just shakes his head and walks past Mattea and on down the dusty, mansion-looking hall.

Jimmy pats Mattea on the shoulder and follows after him.

Mattea, suspended a few inches in the air by her plastic bone cocoon, slowly rotates until she's facing you. "...If you say anything about this being a good look for me..."

Tai

Mattea just glares at Tai for the entire time he's helping get her untangled. As soon as she's free and drops to the ground, the skeleton jerks up and all the bones reform back into their original position. It bounces a few time, as if laughing.

Mattea grabs your hand and storms off from the inanimate object. What awaits you is a haunted house that looks a lot more stereotypical. You find Buttons and Jimmy waiting just around the corner.

Jimmy cockily leans against the wall. "Ha, took y-" The wall gives way, opening into a slide as Jimmy yells in surprise and disappears into the darkness.

"Aw, c'mon, man!" Buttons jumps in behind him just as the wall slides shut.

Mattea looks for a minute, then continues on down the hallway like nothing happened ignoring all the closed doors along the way. One slowly creaks open just a crack as she passes, but Mattea doesn't even seem to notice.

Tai

You make your way through the dimly lit hall until you come to a what looks like the exit. As you get close, a large fake spider drops down directly in your path. Mattea proceeds to wind back and slap it aside before storming out through the door. Outside, back among all the other fairgoers, she pauses and takes a deep breath. "Oh, thank fuck we're out of there." She walks over to a nearby bench and plops down. "Yeah, you can pick the next ride."

Tai

"What, the carousel?" Mattea stands on her toes and looks past it to see if maybe you were pointing to something in the distance. "Roller coaster, haunted house... carousel." Seems like an anti-climax but fuck it, I could use a breather." She holds her arm out and wraps it around yours. You walk off together and enjoy a nice, peaceful, calm ride on a pair of horses as they bob up and down. "This is... nice."

Tai

"Mmm..." Mattea seems to be in a much better mood after the ride. You spend some more time at the park, but before long it starts to get late.

On the way out, you notice Buttons and Jimmy finally free from the haunted house getting on the bus together.

"Ugh, I think I've still got some of that gunk in my shoe. So gross. And today I learned I fucking hate chainsaws."

Mattea stretches. "So... Coming back to my place?"

You arrive at the edge of the city as the sun starts to set, Mareena still skipping along happily.  "Nope, looks like there aren't any more monsters out today.  That means we are done, I suppose.  Good work!"

"We-e-e-e-e-e-ell let's see." Mareena thinks for a moment, twirling in place to stop with her hands behind her back, rocking back and forth. "The last two days were definitely weird, what with a bunch of monsters being drawn in. But they do trickle in randomly. Usually it's just a few monsters a month that just kind of wander in. Not anywhere near this scale. Nothing one or two people can't handle."
