"Hey, Somnis? Have you ever... uh..." Kiran begins. Somnis tilts her head and stares at him expectantly. "Uh... have you ever... thought about, y'know, knocking? Or maybe calling my phone? Like a normal person?"
"Uh, yeah?" Somnis says. "I've tried that stuff before, but it doesn't get you out of bed. Speaking of which, if you don't get your butt in gear we're going to be late."
"Uh... Right." Kiran rushes to get dressed and eat before heading out the door.
Kiran heads downtown with Tia in tow to a warehouse tucked away on the edge of the industrial district. Even if Somnis weren't leading the way, it would be easy to find which one it is, with Mattea and Natsumi both hanging around outside helping to lead people in.
"Kiran-friend! You came! Somnis was not sure she'd be able to wake you," Natsumi says. "Maybe we can talk more after... um... actually, I'll need to get ready for tonight, we won't really have time to chat after the meeting. Oh, well! I'll see you tomorrow."
The warehouse itself is nearly completely empty, other than a few support beams. A set of rusty stairs leads up to what looks like a control room, as well as a few empty offices and some bathrooms. Several other students have gathered inside. Somnis joins Buttons near the stairs, quietly discussing things before they begin. Tia, Avalon, and Laura are hanging around, waiting. Tia looks nervous, and sticks near Kiran. Laura looks excited, but Avalon looks confused. Tai, Leia, Floyd, and Dewey all trickle in over time.
The lights snap out. There's still enough sunlight streaming in through the windows that it's not hard to see...
Buttons lets out a deep laugh and steps forward dramatically. "Welcome... To the future site of the Occult Club's special Halloween event! Mwahahaha... Yes, over the next month... the Occult Club shall transform this dreary little space... into a haunted house! A-HA! AHAHAHAHA!!!"
Buttons poses dramatically as the entire group reacts with little enthusiasm. "...Wow, everyone. Calm down. Seriously, don't get too excited. Jimmy!"
The lights come back on, and Jimmy comes clanking down the stairs. "Hey, uh..." He looks around the room. "N-nevermind."
"Right, well. We'll need people to work on props, some walls and stuff, move things around, people to dress up in costume, and a few of you to work on summoning ghosts and demons and whatnot," Buttons says. "Any volunteers for anything?"
"Props, please," Avalon says. "And, um, maybe I'd wear a costume, but I'm not... sure..."
"I can work on walls!" Laura volunteers.
"Same," Somnis says. "All the stuff from Volunteer club recently should be good practice."
Tia's tongue flicks out. "Um... I'm not... sure about all this..."
"A costume sounds fun!" Natsumi volunteers. "I'll, um... also set some wards around to make sure any ghosts we summon don't escape."
Buttons' smile and optimism return, somewhat. "There we go. And the rest of you? In or out?"
"Out," Mattea says. "...Well, maybe I'll consider helping people put together their costumes. Maybe."
"In in a thousand times in! I'll do whatever you need moving, dress up, walls and stuff!" Lloyd calls out.
"OH! OH! I CAN WEAR A FULL COSTUME! I'LL BE LIKE A SCARY MASCOT! AND NO ONE WILL KNOW WHO'S UNDER THE COSTUME!" Leia yells.
"Well if I have to then I guess I'll wear a damn costume. How PG does it need to be? Or can I go all out and make a heart-attack level outfit?" Tai asks.
Looks like the crowd is turning around.
(A) Yeah, not interested
(B) How much of a time commitment is this?
(C) Of course, no hesitation, anything for my buddy

"Heck yeah!" Kiran agrees. "I don't know what I'm doing, but of course I'll help."
"Nice," Buttons says. He tosses Kiran a broom. "We're going to start with cleaning this place up some."
Everyone works together and cleans up the warehouse a bit. It looks a lot better and less dusty by the time you're done a few hours later. At one point, Avalon says she's going to head out and buy some supplies for the next few meetings. Tia immediately volunteers to join her. She seems excited to be getting out of the warehouse.
Buttons calls an end to the meeting, thanking everyone for all their hard work. "Remember, this is all hush-hush, so keep it a secret, alright? We'll be working on this stuff at all our meetings."
Everyone starts heading out. Jimmy stays behind to talk to Buttons a bit. Tai and Natsumi head off together.
(A) Stay back to talk to Buttons, too.
(B) Stalk Tai and Natsumi
(C) See what Somnis is doing
(D) Go home and sleep more

"Boop." Kiran pokes Somnis in the stomach when she turns around.
"Hehe. What?"
"Wanna grab lunch?" Kiran asks.
"Sure," Somnis agrees. "Got anything in mind?"
"No, you pick," Kiran insists.
"Alright. Hmmm..."
An hour later, the two of them are sitting in a hole-in-the-wall burger joint downtown. Somnis yawns while they wait for dinner. "I'm tired."
"Yep," Kiran says.
"Yep I'm tired?" Somnis asks. "Or yep, I'm tired, too?"
"Both," Kiran says. "The volunteer stuff yesterday, then a bunch of cleaning today... My muscles are sore."
"Pffft, what muscles?" Somnis teases.
"Uh, these big, hulking things?" Kiran says, pointing at his unimpressive biceps.
"Haha, if you clean a warehouse every day for a month maybe you'll have something to show."
Kiran pouts.

"So how've you been lately, Somnis?" Kiran asks.
"I've been OK," she says. "Glad to be done with that Volunteer project. Don't get me wrong, it feels good to help people, but it can be really exhausting, huh."
"I guess. What else have you been doing lately, besides that?"
"Pretty much just that," Somnis says. "Very, very busy with it. Building a house takes a lot of work. Other than that, mostly hanging out at home. Mom's been really busy at work lately, so I've also had to do a lot of the housework and stuff."
"Huh? Why didn't you ask me for help?" Kiran asks.
"You have your own stuff going on, y'know? Taking care of your own place and two animals and Tia... I know she's kind of a handful."
"Not really. She takes care of herself pretty well."
"Seriously?" Somnis looks surprised. "She's always been kind of naive..."
"Well, yeah, but she can at least take care of herself. Mostly. And she's been doing fine with Sproink."
"That's good," Somnis says. "I was kinda worried about the two of you living together, to be honest. You're both a bit... y'know... I still have to wake you up every morning or you'd be late for school."
"Would not," Kiran says.
"Would so."
"You're probably right..." Kiran pauses as the food arrives. The two spend a few minutes quietly eating before Kiran continues. "So what's your mom been so busy with?"
"Ah..." Somnis stops chewing and looks around to make sure no one's listening in. She leans close and continues in a whisper. "Remember those people that were turned into statues that we saved? Remember not hearing anything about a bunch of missing people coming back in the news?"
"...Ah..."
"Yeah. They disappeared. Again. Mom's been trying to figure out what happened. She thinks... someone in the police department might be... um... Well, she doesn't know everything about what's going on, but maybe they're working with the angel?"
"...Ah..."
"We shouldn't talk about this stuff here," Somnis says.
"OK," Kiran says. "We'll talk about it more later."
