You should head to the restaurant and grab yourself something to eat. You'll need some food to focus.
Dilz drives around, and eventually turns into his favorite joint, the Grand Ol' Diner!
It's been a while since I've been here, maybe a couple of years. My parents used to take me here frequently, but after I left on my own I never put aside any money for meals like this. It looked a little run down, and had a lot less traffic than when I last went, but it still seemed to be chugging along. I parked and headed inside.
The diner looked like it was directly pulled from another time. The outfits were like out of a 50's TV show, the jukebox probably was from that time period, and the smell of coffee and bacon in the air was heavenly. There were a few people in there, mainly older people pecking at their pancakes.
"Welcome to the Grand Ol' Diner, oh-! I remember that face! Dilz, it's been a while!"
"Wow Frederick, you remember me?"
"Of course, I remember all of our regulars! It must have been half a decade since the last time! You alone? Come on, sit on the barstool, let's have a chat!"
This friendly guy was Frederick, the owner of this diner. He was an ancient man, even when I was a kid, but always managed to be chipper and friendly. I sat down at the stool.
"You look all grown up, Dilz! Tell me, how have you been doing, what's taken you so long to come here again? Shelly, get this man a coffee! Don't worry, it's on the house."
Shelly, an older woman who worked there for as long as I remembered, grabbed a mug and began filling it up under the coffee machine.
"Well, I was doing really badly, but some things happened, I got a new job, and I got some money to celebrate it, I guess."
"Ah! Good man, I always knew you had some good potential, drinking black coffee so young! Are your folks well?"
"Yeah, they're doing fine last time I checked."
"That's great! Remember to call them sometimes, they appreciate it a lot more than you would expect."
"Here's your coffee, hun. Glad to see ya!" Shelly dropped the coffee off at my table and went back to the kitchen area. Taking a sip, it tasted exactly the same as it used to. The warm nostalgia of days of old filled me.
"Damn good coffee, good as ever, Frederick. How are things on your end?"
"Well, I'm just working hard and doing my best! The lights are still on, so I guess I'm doing something right. I would take your order, but we've got a new waitress, and I know you'll like her! Rose, take this man's order! Good to see ya, Dilz, bring your folks around sometime again."
Frederick walked off and made the way for this Rose girl. She was quite young, with curly red hair and green eyes. She looked straight out of an old television show, like the rest of this place, and was quite beautiful. Frederick, my brother, we are united in good taste!
"What can I get ya?"
"Give me the Quarterback Special."
"Ooh, that's quite a bit! Bacon or ham?"
"Bacon."
"Grits or hashbrowns?"
"Hashbrowns. Put everything on it."
"It must be a real celebration! You got a new job? A big sign in bonus?"
"Yeah. It's pretty great."
"Well, I'll get it to ya quick!"
Relaxing back in the diner chair, I sipped my coffee. You know, maybe killing my boss was a good thing. Ooh, maybe I shouldn't have thought about that before eating. Best to keep my mind on other things. Looking around, I saw Frederick wiping a table near me, Shelly making some more coffee, and Rose relaying my order to the cook. There was also a kid at the jukebox who seemed to be having some difficulties. The traffic was low, so it wouldn't inconvenience any of the workers to have a conversation.
What will Dilz do?
A. Talk to Frederick. He's friendly, and he could be an important ally in the future.
B. Talk to Shelly. Old waitresses like her have plenty of gossip, that'll be interesting for sure.
C. Talk to Rose. Maybe we can get something going there?
D. Help the kid with the jukebox. You played with it quite a bit when you were young, you probably still have the skills for it.
E. Kick back and relax. You can also check the functions of that watch still on you during this time.
