Melody opens the door and finds herself face-to-face with a giant... vault door. The room itself is much smaller than most of them - or, at least, seems that way since more than half of it is taken up by the stone vault. There's a sizable table tucked into an alcove on one side, and the room is otherwise empty. "Ah, I see you found the vault! There's a pretty useful treasure inside, if you dare to try to open it. An actually useful treasure. If it were up to me, I'd have filled it with more traps... Instead, he insisted on putting an orb inside. An orb that will let you teleport at will between the main entrance, 2nd floor landing, garden, and basement landing. Of course... Well, do I really have to spell out what happens if you attempt to solve the riddle and fail? Ah, I will anyway - I love watching that expression you make. You'll die. Again. Hahaha... If you want to take a shot at it, just go hop up on that table." Diana dashes back into the library and snatches the sealed parchment off the table. She catches a glimpse of a beautiful garden out the window. She tries to blast through the floor with a spiral stream, but a strange glow emanates from it and seems to block the attack.
"I'm sorry, Diana, but you're limited to these three rooms. The point of this challenge is for your partner to rescue you while you provide support, after all. You can provide her some help from in here, and she comes to unlock the door... In theory, anyway. She just fell into the basement." The voice sighs heavily. "Surely you could have rescued her 3 times by now. I offered to let her trade places with you, but she refused. Something about wanting to be a hero and prove herself. Humans... Such utter fools. They should just lay down and accept how useless they are. Just say the word and I'll let you swap places in a heartbeat, my lovely Diana. Well, trade roles. She'd await rescue down below, in the torture chambers. You could take all the time you want to save her... Perhaps she would even come to understand the extent of her insolence in thinking herself worthy of controlling you." The voice lacks the same sarcastic bite it speaks to Melody with.

A riddle... It's a risk, and it could jsut be a trap instead of a treasure, but... I'll try...
Melody steps onto the table.
Diana frowns. The typically silent Note Beast is at her wit's end.
"You ignorant, pompous fool. Meldoy is not my master. That dear girl is my friend and partner. I am an extension of her, our souls linked. The very notion that I'd abandon her is utterly ridiculous. Now, if you'll excuse me I will be searching for any way I can to hrlp her."
She turns.
Diana will closely examine the rooms, searckinf for anything useful.

Melody climbs up on the table. "Oh? Oh... This is going to be fun. But you're supposed to lie down, dear Melody."
Melody finds an indentation perfectly fit to the shape of her body and lies down in it. It leaves her upper body tucked into the alcove. A pair of metal collars slide out and affix themselves around her neck, leaving a thin gap between them. She's left staring at the ceiling - there's a mirror that allows her to see herself strapped to the table. A panel in the mirror slides back and reveals a wide, razor-sharp blade. It drops down, halting close enough that Melody can feel it pressing against her throat ever so slightly.
"You can thank your friend Digi for this, as well. He very specifically requested some decapitation. Your time limit should be rather obvious. An incorrect answer will result in your death. A correct answer will unlock both the vault and your collar. Here is the riddle: When the meekest cat sticks its tongue out, the vault will unlock. Good luck... my cute, foolish Melody," the voice says.
With that, there's a loud click as the blade is slowly raised back towards the ceiling. Oh... OK. No need to panic. There's... enough time to think this through. Click. She looks around quickly. There's a carved head in the shape of a roaring lion to her left. Click. And a carved tiger with its mouth wide in a snarl to her right. Click. And a leopard above her. Click. There's also a few strange marks on the mirror. Click. Melody's still got time. It would be best to start by picking something to examine. Diana scans the room. The open window might possibly be useful? She can see what looks like a beautiful garden below. She gets a sense of peace and relaxation as she looks down at it. Rather ironic, considering what's happening down below.
There's several books around, but it would take a long time to go through them all. There's one that's a bit out. It appears to be a field guide to healing herbs. Diana peeks down into the garden again - there's a few plants down below. She finds a fire poker in the fireplace. It's nice and heavy and would be good for both poking and smashing. She doesn't find anything else useful in the room. Not without searching something specific.

Examine Strange markings on mirror.
Diana should take the herb book and go picking some herbs that could be good for a quick heal.

Melody cranes her neck against the collars to try to look at the leopard above her. Click. She can see what looks like a wooden lever just inside its mouth. It looks like she could pull it. Click. She looks back to the blade. It's about 1/3 of the way up. She thinks back to the what the voice said... An incorrect answer is death. Click. Does she want to pull the lever, or stop and examine some of the other things? Diana attempts to go out the window to the garden on the floor below. She's unable to fit through the crack beyond her neck, though all the things she's been gathering would. But she does get a better look at the garden! There's a lovely well in the center. And she can see a door directly below her. And it smells wonderful.

After examining the leopard, Melody examines the mirror. The strange markings don't make any sense! Click. They... Wait. When she lets herself lose focus on the markings themselves, they seem to line up pretty perfectly with her reflection. Click. Is that the reason for the indentation on the table, to make sure those drawings would line up with her? Click. One of the markings is a curly line that seems to be coming out of her... rear end. Click. The other two markings are small triangles-within-triangles that line up with the top of her head, almost like a pair of pointy ears. Click. Looking at her reflection overlayed with the markings, it's almost like a bad doodle of her as a beastman. Click.
The blade is 2/3 of the way up.

Melody looks in the mirror, searching for a lever on the table.
Click.
Nothing. She tries pressing her head against the table, hoping for a hidden button.
Click.
Nothing. She tries craning her neck to look around. The lion and tiger have levers, as expected, but the table itself...
Click.
Nothing. She tries groping around with her hands and feet, desperately feeling for a hidden latch or button, anything...
Click.
Nothing! She closes her eyes to think. "When the meekest cat sticks out its tongue." The levers seem like they're obviously the statues' "tongues," but... isn't she - or her reflection, whatever - the meekest cat, at least in the voice's eyes? But Melody doesn't have a lever in her mouth! So how can she possibly stick out her tongue?
CLICK!
Melody opens her eyes. The blade is fully raised. Whatever she's going to do, this is her last chance...!

(You can do it, Digi! Be wary of overthinking - have heart, trust your instincts! And don't be afraid to run your ideas past other people!)

Melody sticks her tongue out. Melody's reflection sticks its tongue out. The blade releases with a loud CLACK and begins to fall. A softer click rings out, and Melody feels the collar holding her neck in the blade's path release. She jerks forward as the blade slices straight through the table and slams to the floor. The piece with the indentation of her head bounces to the floor.
The table itself, now cut through, collapses. Melody slides down and lightly bumps her head on the blade embedded in the ground. As she disentangles herself from the ruined table, there's a loud clacking as the vault locks release. The door slowly swings open.
Melody peers inside and is only slightly surprised to see it entirely empty. "HA! Oh, the look on your face. This was truly entertai- Tch."
A soft blue glow begins emanating from thin air. It coalesces into a small, pale-blue orb that slowly drifts into Melody's hand. She just needs to hold it out and say her destination. She does remember where all it can take her, right?

Oh, yeah. Have an updated map as a bonus. If Melody gets the map from Diana, remind me to do an updated-updated map. Attachments:

(Is this an item Melody gets to keep or one time use?)
Melody thinks for a moment.
Perhaps I should try a place I've yet to explore to find some clues... And gain a better sense of the manor's layout...
"I'd like to go to tbe garden."
Diana will take the poker and try to put out the fire in the fire place. She'll then prod at the floor looking for any sort of hole or chute she could use to send things away.

Melody holds the orb up and asks to go to the garden. She feels herself being pulled as her vision warps, and the floor drops out beneath her. She falters as she falls a few inches, falling to the floor. Dew soaks through her robe, feeling cool on her back. A gentle, soothing scent pervades the area. This place feels... safe. She realizes how exhausted she is, and how badly she wants to just lay there - but Diana is waiting. She forces herself up, enjoying the sensation of soft grass and loamy soil underfoot after the basement's icy stone.
She looks around the room. The garden itself is small, yet quite lovely and well-maintained with several small flowerbeds, vibrant and colorful. A small well sits in the center, its depths concealed in darkness. There's a fence around 2 sides, much like the cemetery. One side contains a solid wall. The last has a single door. Looking up, there's a row of windows on the floor above. One is cracked slightly. She can hear thudding coming from inside. Diana puts out the fire, then starts poking around, looking for any hidden chutes or holes. She doesn't have any luck in this room, but there's still two others. She hears a quiet ringing coming from just outside the half-open window, followed by a soft thud like someone falling into the grass.

Diana wil go to the window to investigate, see Melody, and drop the Garden book and map.
"Careful, child! You mustn't use the map unless absolutely necessary!"
Melody will approach and accept tbe items.
