Melody catches the map and book. At a cursory glance, there's herbs in the garden that could be used to treat burns and help stop bleeding, but they won't last long after being plucked. Fortunately, she now has a way to come back immediately - wait, where's the orb!?
Melody shortly finds it half-buried in a small patch of mud. The glow seems to have diminished a bit, but thankfully it seems she can use it at least a few more times. She makes a note to hold it tight next time.
"So, gonna open the map?" the voice asks. "It'll cost one of those revivals of yours, but you'll probably die at least once trying stumble your way to her, right? Actually, I guarantee it. At least with the map you'd know which direction to throw your corpse."

"No thank you. As much as I'd prefer to avoid dying... again, I can't take the chance that I won't. At least now I have a general idea about where to go..."
Melody will pick some appropriate herbs to heal any wounds she has.
Diana will nod, and search another room for a hole or entrance.

Melody is uninjured.
Which room is Diana searching? The attic or the Servant's Quarters?

Hmmm. Servant's quarters.
In that case, Melody will cautiouslyapproach and go through the door.

Melody cracks open the door. She immediately knows where she is. She's back in the chapel. The door to the kitchen is to her right. The room is significantly dimmer with the chandelier gone; other than the missing light source, there's no sign she was ever here. That massive trapdoor concealed by the rug has sealed shut very cleanly.
The air in here is noticeably warmer than the rest of the house, and the fuzzy carpets radiate a gentle warmth in contrast to the garden's cool dew. Melody would probably enjoy it, if not for... Diana goes into the servant's quarters. There's still just the one door on the south wall. She searches the floor for any holes, including looking under the two beds. Nothing. No visible holes in the walls, either - though she hesitates to move the large dresser and check behind it.
The pair of gloves is still sitting on one of the two nightstands.

Diana will carefully move the dresser....
Melody wil avoid Trap door and fire pit, as well as other traps, and cautiously make her way back to the main hall.
She'll brave the stairs, careful again.

Melody walks around the edge of the room and into the kitchen. She notices the green slime that came out of the cabinet has... eaten a hole through the floor. That would have been an unpleasant trap to get caught in... She glances into the hole and sees a room below. It looks like a gymnasium of some sort, with a trampoline, hanging rings, a vault spring... Hm. Fun?
She makes it back to the main hall and notices the giant boulder plowed into the front door. Fortunately, it's off-center enough she'll still be able to get out once she rescues Diana. The trapdoor at the foot of the stairs is still open, and the stairs themselves are still a slide... She takes a deep breath, takes a running start, and hops over the pit. She slips, her feet still a bit damp from the dew, and starts to slide again - the broken glass at the bottom flashes into her mind - but she catches herself on the railing and uses it to pull herself up.
She reaches the top of the stairs. It's a large, empty room with 3 doors going off to the north, east, and south. She can hear what sounds like someone shifting something large through the west wall. Diana shifts the dresser out of the way. She can hear a few items shifting inside, but it's pretty light. Can't be more than a few sets of clothes. There's nothing interesting about the wall behind it.

Hmm. Melody will head West, careful to avoid traps and watch out for them in all directions.
Diana will use the Poker and bang it against the floor or something hard, go create lots of noise.

Melody attempts to go west, the one direction with no door. She slams into the wall. As she presses against the wall, trying to phase through it, she hears a thudding noise coming from the other side. Diana makes a bunch of noise smacking things with the poker. She hears a loud thud from the east wall.
The doors in her room are in the west and south.

Melody proceeds north. She cracks open the door and attempts to peer inside. Wait... What the Hell? The next room is a stone cavern, lit by a few dangling electric lights... And right in the center of the room is a giant lake. Melody feels something shift underfoot, and the floor suddenly snaps up and launches her into the air, straight through the doorway and careening into the lake with a loud splash. Then she feels the ground drop out from beneath her, the water and lights all rising slightly as the entire room shifts down and sideways. The room stops with a titanic crash, sending everything falling back into place - and Melody back into the lake. She's able to see what looks like a stone well in the ceiling high above her. Melody feels something slimy coil around her waist, then wrap around her torso. It hoists her clear of the water for a moment. Beneath the water, Melody's able to faintly make out the outline of... something... horrible... as it slowly breaches the lake's surface. The tendril holds her, flailing, right over a very, very large mouth, lined with razor-sharp fangs. A dozen eyes all fix on her as it carefully lines her up over its gaping maw. Melody struggles, strains with all her strength, and manages to pull her arms free. She managed to hold on to all her equipment. Whatever she's going to do, it needs to be done now, or she'll be eaten alive...! Fun fact. Int the original edition of Betrayal at House on the Hill, the Underground Lake was mis-printed as a 2nd story room. When discovered, it and the explorer that found it would be dropped into the basement.

That's... going to end either really well or really bad. Heads or tails?

Melody pulls out an ice arrow and stabs the tentacle, hoping to free herself. A burst of ice magic erupts as the arrow impacts... which has the opposite effect. Not only does she become injured by the blast half-frozen herself, the tentacle is now completely unable to release her, as it's frozen and brittle. Melody uses her other, unfrozen arm to stab at it with a normal arrow. The tentacle chips and breaks, and the monster reacts with obvious pain. It flails wildly, unable to let her go, crush her, or eat her. Melody decides to risk a fire arrow, and stabs it with a fire arrow. It explodes, destroying half the tentacle wrapped around her. Fortunately, the monster absorbs the worst of the blast. As the tentacle shatters, Melody is...
Heads: dropped straight into the monster's mouth and devoured. Tails: flung relatively safely towards the shore, near the exit.
Her torso and right arm are frozen. Her left arm is horribly burned from the blast, and her face and left leg are singed. She lands against the stone floor, rolling to a stop right beside the door. She struggles to her feet, debating whether to fight the thing with electric arrows or escape through the door. It's the only one out of the room, and she doesn't know which direction it leads.
(Remind me to add Diana's results next time)
