Dana runs up the staircase pattern blobs and drops down, slamming her hammer into Rulue. "Aargh!" She holds her head in pain, but continues to work fast, dropping puyos. Natsumi throws a retribution seal on Rulue while she's busy. Oiya and Barfy watch Rulue place down puyos, noticing she's pairing multiple close together, but avoiding groups of four. Finally, she places a group of four together. They notice the staircase pattern on the puyos suddenly lines up to create a chain! Rulue seems to be filled with a magic power as she punches Dana. "Hiyaaa!" She then quickly turns for a kick. "Take that!" She turns once more and her fist is surrounded in rocks before she slams it into Dana. "Rock PUNCH!" She turns once more, surrounding her foot in gales before punting Dana away. "Wind kick!" Dana appears to have taken some rather decent damage from that chain. You notice the Seal of Retribution causing gray puyos to drop down around Rulue whenever she attacks.

Oiya and Barfy look at each other in confusion. Barfy shoots a lightning bolt at Fanny. Oiya waits until she starts getting another combo ready.
Dana rubs her head. "Ugh... Oh! I get it!" Dana lowers her hammer and gets ready to start smashing incoming gels towards Fanny.
"Don't do anything stupid! You're... Oh, gods, we actually are counting on you for offense" She throws a Ward of Peace on Dana.

Natsumi places a Ward of Peace on Dana for a regeneration effect while Dana starts to smack puyos toward Rulue. They only turn into one gray puyo at a time. It seems like clearing one at a time isn't a very effective way to fight back, but it does help to add to some of the clutter. Barfy casts a zap bolt, shooting lightning at Rulue. "Argh!" She seems annoyed by the attack, but continues along, trying her best to clear away some of the garbage puyos. "Hiyaa!" She punches Barfy. Oiya stands there and watches the puyos. With most of the gray ones cleared away, Rulue seems to be creating quite the large pile of puyos in the staircase style, dropping them down quickly.

Natsumi puts a Wind Ward on Dana.
Dana's going to wait for her to drop the Puyu designed to set off the chain and bat it away.
In case that doesn't work, Oiya grabs the 2nd step and tries to slide it one space to the side.
Annnd Barfy can shoot more lightning.

Natsumi places a wind ward on Dana while Dana watches her dropping the puyo to set off the chain. Dana smacks the puyos that are dropping with her hammer, but they seem rather stuck to their position. Oiya grabs one of the steps and pulls on it, but these blobby, jelly-like things seem like they don't really move when they're placed. The chain begins to activate. Rulue punches Oiya. "Hiyaa!" She then turns and kicks her. "Take that!" She turns once more, her fist surrounded in rocks as she slams it into her. "Rock PUNCH!" She turns again, her foot surrounded in gales as she slams it into Oiya. "Wind kick!" She turns again, her fist in a metal coating as she slams it into Oiya. "Iron fist!" The then leaps in the air and slams her knee into Oiya's chest. "Exploding knee!" A powerful explosion is emitted and Oiya is sent flying into a nearby tree. Some gray puyos drop down and Rulue seems to have a bit of a pile remaining from before, though it's not quite organized for a combo and the layer of gray puyos on top will stop her from making use of it. Barfy then fires another zap bolt at Rulue, but she keeps going.

Alright, we tried cheating at playing her game, now it's time to do things the old-fashioned way: violently.
Natsumi, Peace Ward on Oiya.
Oiya, Double Attack her.
Barfy, Flame her.
Dana, stay on defense and keep randomly smashing her falling blocks around to make her life difficult.

Natsumi places a peace ward on Oiya, granting a regenerative effect before Oiya slashes at her twice with her sword. Barfy throws a fireball at her and Dana begins swatting more puyos at Rulue, causing them to turn gray and get in the way. However, since they're only one at a time, it isn't too difficult to work around. Rulue continues to build up and seems to be preparing a large and elaborate chain! It seems attacking her directly does not have much effect.

OK, so I just need to... offset her... sun poyos... in the... third... column... Uh? Screw it, I'm going to just assume it's Pokemon Puzzle League.
Y'know what? Fine! We'll play Lulu's game! We'll make our own chains! With Puyos and... other, differently-colored stolen Puyus!
Oiya and Dana will work together to catch a pair and drag it off somewhere else and start stacking them to emulate her stack. No, wait. The original game was 1991... Oh, a retro game! Natsumi's actually good at those. Now that she's had a chance to observe and figure out the rules, she'll coordinate the pair. Barfy will keep shooting... eh... fire again.

Natsumi orchestrates Oiya and Dana's movements while they run around, picking up and placing puyos. They work quickly and with their strength added together, they manage to pull off a quick chain before Rulue finishes her mega chain. Barfy is surrounded in a magic power as he spews a fireball at Rulue. Suddenly, gray puyos rain down on her stack, causing it to become too high! The stack of puyos fall over on top of her and the battle is won!
Mission Complete!
Rulue pops out of the puyos, angrily clutching her fan and snapping it in half. "You'll regret this...!"
Ten arena coins rain down from above.

The coins float back up into the sky as you decide to continue on. You continue walking through the forest until coming across someone else. This time it's a girl with orange hair, wearing white and blue clothes and carrying a little yellow thing. "Oh, hey! I haven't seen you around before. You must be new!"
The yellow thing makes noises at you. "Gu Gu~!"
"I have an idea! How about we have a battle to get to know each other?" As she says this, you notice it randomly begins to rain down puyos again.

Oiya will take offense and start stealing blobs to make her own chains. Barfy will supervise her.
Dana will take defense and randomly smash falling puyos with her hammer to make things more annoying for Arle.

"Oh, okay." Arle holds the seal for Natsumi. Oiya starts putting together some puyos with help from Barfy. They don't seem to be quite as skilled at it as Natsumi, but manage to put together a small chain, filling Barfy with magic power. Dana throws one puyo at a time with her hammer, but Arle seems rather experienced at puyoing and doesn't have trouble working around it. She seems to be preparing a large combo, but only a few seconds later, everything suddenly changes as the puyos fly up into the air and tetriminos begin raining down from above! Oiya is nearly squashed by one. It seems you'll have to be careful of them as they fall. Arle seems to be using magic to control where they land, making what looks like a tower.

Oh. Probably can't abduct these tetriminasais for our purposes. K, easy. Oiya's going to toss Dana to help her climb up the tower. Dana's going to focus on dodging and only aim for side-smashing that one LINE PIECE when Arle goes for the tetris.
Barfy's going to unleash his built up power as a ZAP BOLT.
Natsumi's gonna... er... try to distract her with a brush attack...?
