I would much rather they be NPCs. Otherwise we might as well just play as the Digimon and sod the humans. Which I would also not be opposed to, if it was done well. Anyway, a big part of Digimon, as I recall, is building a bond with your Digital Monster to bring out their power and yours, like with the Crests or whatever they were called. Would be more fulfilling if we didn't have control over the monsters.

But I wouldn't punch anyone in the face if they were PCs either. |

What if they are NPCs during the roleplaying part, but we choose their attacks in the combat parts?

Yeah, I like the sound of that. Working together, and being able to mostly control their fighting choices, but still having them as autonomous beings with their own identity and agency.

Alright, gotcha. I'm planning a few more things out, but I should be able to start the Prologue soonish. I'll plan out a few chapters ahead at all times, so when the Prologue starts I should have through chapter 3 or 4 done.
