Dewey glares in Mareena’s direction as she vanishes, then begins to follow her. He’s pretty certain by now she isn’t Mercia, but he still can’t shake the feeling she’s hiding something. Or maybe it’s just him being biased since he’s not her biggest fan, who knows?

You say bye to Fox and stand, staring at a wall until night. A lot of people come and go. You don't know most of them. But some you do. It's a busy night. Maybe because of the rain. Maybe because of something darker. Kiran, Avalon, that blonde transfer girl, the average-looking knight-ish guy, Zack, Mattea, Jimmy, Avel. Oh, and Raine. She comes out of Mareena's shop and starts talking to Bandages. Oh, and Alice and Nora come in and take her place in the store.
Dewey, Sam (Afternoon)
The two of you make your way up towards Mareena's shop for very different reasons. Guess it's not terribly suspicious for her to go into her own store. The two of you bump into each other right in front of the store. "Come in, come in," Mareena calls from inside the store. "Is that THE GREAT MAREENA's part-time employee and the stalker out there? Surely you have much interesting business to discuss, the both of you, yes, yes, come in, come in."

You continue to observe. Raine and Bandages seem to be having a very interesting conversation as Raine reaches out to poke him in the face. On the more sane type of conversing, blondie and brown-hair stand near the fountain speaking with each other. Well, maybe not normal. She seems to get annoyed about something and rolls her eyes at him. Mattea heads off to work in the cafe.

"So that would make Hinoh, what... Your sister? Half-sister? Cousin? Childhood friend, maybe?" Alice asks.
"Who knows." Mareena shrugs. "They are all such good guesses. And any of them are plausible."
Alice leans forward in her chair, smiling, and puts a hand on Mareena's leg. It is not a friendly gesture. "Mareena."
"Yes? If you're asking me to confirm any of it, that would be in violation of THE GREAT MAREENA's neutrality policy. And would annoy Hinoh to no end. Oh, that is tempting."
"So, you are closely acquainted..." Alice tightens her grip slightly.
"Oh, that much, at least, should be obvious, yes. As for the rest of it and anything I may be hiding in my vision? It's an entirely different mystery." Mareena calmly presses her foot into Alice's chest and gently pushes her back into her seat. "No bearing on Hinoh. The question Nora seems to be asking is whether I am a Guardian. The question she should be asking is whether I could become a Guardian, and if I could hold a Soul. The answer is yes. And I am not the only one in this room who could."
Alice blinks, then tries to lean forward. Mareena continues to hold her back. She looks at Mareena, then Nora, then back to Mareena. "Uh?"

Nora seems deep in thought for a few moments. "Oh, I wouldn't be surprised at all if myself or Alice had the potential to become a Guardian. So, Hinoh agrees with your neutrality policy, even backs it, does she? That may cost her. If you aren't the Guardian of Light now, you may be in the future. Granted, I believe Mercia intends to leave Hinoh for last. We may be able to use that to our advantage."
Nora leans forward and pokes Mareena. "I wonder, dear. Would you abolish your neutrality policy to save Hinoh's life?"

Mareena giggles and stops holding Alice back, adjusting back into a relaxed position. Alice doesn't try to grab her again. "Irrelevant. As you said, Mercia has no intention to make a move on Hinoh without provocation, and even if she tried, she can't. Not with the beasts awake. She'd prefer diplomacy. Hinoh, unlike Dragon, is reasonable and will try to help solve the coming disaster. And even if Mercia did try something, she'd be the one ending The Great Mareena's neutrality pact, no?" Mareena smirks. This time, it's your turn to receive a poke. To the stomach.
Alice remains lost in thought.
