"You've never shown much interest in my predictions before." Dewey looks back to see she's now plopped down on her table, carefully studying him. "I don't think you've suddenly started believing, but you were looking for some sort of information." She shrugs. "I'm heading out to investigate some things. You can come along if you want. Just wait until we're in private to ask your questions."

Somnis is wandering around in a daze, head tilted in thought as she stares into nothingness. Other mallgoers move out of her way when it becomes obvious she has no intention to. As you approach her and say hello, she doesn't notice at first. Then her eyes snap into focus, darting around until the find the source of the voice before locking on you. "Oh. Hello. You're Karl. You ran for president once."

"Why is it called a race when there's no ribbon to break at the end? That'd make races way more exciting. Hey, did you get anything for losing? Like a participation trophy or a ribbon or something? Do you and Alice and Mattea ever hang out and have a secret president race club? Do you think you'd win a real race against them with running and stuff?"

Mareena hops around the store for a bit, making sure everything is in place and double-checking that her birds have food and water and a few treats to keep them entertained.
As you head out to the bus stop she seems to be in a better mood.

"Oh, you're a dashing dasher? Fun!" Somnis bends down slightly. "Race me." You don't get a chance to answer before she takes off sprinting up the down escalator. She failed to choose an end point... or at least to say it.

Karl will be a good sport and also go up the down escalator, continuing the dash for as long as he possibly can to keep up with Somnis.

You attempt to follow Somnis up the down escalator. It doesn't work. She actually starts to make some progress, while you struggle just to keep from ending up back at the start.
"HEY! What are you kids doing!? Knock that off!"
You turn to see a mall guard running your way. When you look back, Somnis has turned around and is sprinting back your way. "SCATTER!" she yells as she passes you.

Karl will casually walk into a crowd of people and try to sneak in. If approached by authority, he will explain that the escalator is broken and that it was really hard to use, kinda ruining the purpose of the escalator.

You attempt to blend in with a crowd. You break line of sight for a moment, then sneak out with a group of people walking by. A security guard scanning the crowd looks right past your mobile hiding place. You creep along for a few stores before you make it further away from the center of the mall. And then you slip away. The perfect crime. Mostly.
Somnis reappears behind you wearing sunglasses and a hoodie. You think she also has a wig on underneath. "Pssst. Hey. Hey, it's me. I'm still gonna win." She turns and climbs onto a nearby escalator, this one heading in the right direction.

You chase after Somnis. Fortunately, the mall security seems to be busy searching the bottom floor and it's not hard to slip past them once you go upstairs. Unfortunately, Somnis is fast. By the time you reach the finish line, she's already waiting and has even added a fake mustache to her disguise. She pulls it off dramatically whne you approach. "Ha! I win," she announces. "And since I beat you in the race, that means I'm officially the new vice-vice president, right?"

Somnis jumps for joy. "Yes! That's vice-vice-president Somnis! Now I just need to get through Mattea and Alice, and then I'll be president Somnis! And from there, it's just a few more jumps to Queen Somnis!" She throws her head back with an evil laugh. "But! First I need to assemble my cabinet." She points forcefully at you. "You! I'm going to need a treasurer, a secretary of the navy, and a person that does polling for me. Want the jobs?"
