"Um...? Did you forget what we were doing...?" Katie asks.
"Technically they're not changing into monsters," the armor with the scimitars says. "The victim is held in suspended animation within an aether shell, and the process is entirely reversible... But that is pedantic difference."
"What does pedantic mean?" Fox asks.
"It means annoying," Farmer says.
"Should friends not be able to recognize when one is in turmoil and support them regardless of apocalyptic consequences?" Featherhat suddenly remarks. "That aside, could it be that this phenomenon could've been exploited somehow? Say, for instance, somebody purposefully targeting a key holder to provoke a reaction?"
"I suppose they could, but I don't see why anyone would...?" Raine mutters.
"No one... was making me do anything," Natsumi says. "I was just... being dumb."
"That isn't fair." Mareena frowns at Nora. "You say you would have believed me and listened to my warnings if I'd told you. But you refuse to believe me when I say it would have been worse, and have all these nasty things to say instead."
"Maybe she's being a dick again, but you still should have told us," Tom says.
Mareena stops swinging. Her voice lowers and her demeanor darkens. "It always goes like this. Every time. This is why I usually refuse to get involved. As soon as people decide for themselves what I should be doing, what I think is irrelevant and anything I have done no longer matters. It's always that I should use my foresight how they think, that I should have done more or warned people or stopped this. No one ever bothers to concern themselves with the costs or risks or limits or anything else. It is only about what they think I should be doing, never questioning why some things must remain unsaid." She hops out of the tree and marches up to Nora, her chakrams and veil fading, her soul key reforming in her hand. She shoves it into Nora's chest. "I know exactly what you would have done if I'd told you and that's exactly why I didn't tell you. If you think things could not have been far, far worse - especially for you - then you are a fool." Mareena scowls, then storms past. "Deal with the rest yourselves."

Dewey watches Mareena leave, then after a moment turns to the rest of the group and sighs.
“A lot has happened today, I think we should all take some time to process this.”
And with that, he turns to leave as well.

Sam sees Marenna storms off and feels a little bit upset about what just happened. She's not use to seeing boss lady so upset.
Sam begins to give chase to Marenna and calls out to her.
"Ms. Great and Graceful Marenna wait up, please,". "It may not mean much coming from me,". "But I appreciate everything you done for us,". "I know your mad right now and probably don't want to see any of us,". "But let me just say Thank you Ms. Boss lady Marenna,". "I don't care how you help us but thank you all the same," Sam tries to say in the most sincere and grateful tone

Leia will fiddles her thumbs while looking at the ground.
"For what it's worth, we're not all close to Mareena, so she couldn't necessarily warn all of us and we're also not supposed to talk about all this outside of the Other World anyway..."

Nora silently slips Mareena's soul key into her purse, and her own form returns to normal. "You aren't omniscinent, dumbass, and you should trust your friends over your stupid visions, otherwise what's the fucking point." She mumbles under her breath, then shakes her head.
"Come on, Alice. Let's go home."

You chase after Mareena, calling out to her. She doesn't slow down. She doesn't slow down, if she even hears you. You follow after her as she leaves the park. When you turn the corner, she's nowhere to be seen. You were only a few steps behind her, she shouldn't have been able to get away so fast... But you see no signs of her.
Raine walks up behind you and pats you on the shoulder. "Let's give her a little time alone, hm? Come on, today seems like a good day to bake cookies."
Dewey, Leia, Floyd, Nora
As Dewey leaves, several of the others start to trickle out as well. All of the armors leave as a group. One of them gives an awkward wave as they go. The one with the club stops near Mattea, stares at her for a bit, then runs to catch up to the others.
Fox, Katie, Grant and Farmer are all quick to leave, too. Tom hangs around for a bit, looking like he has something to say, then sighs to himself and leaves. Buttons ruffles Natsumi's hair, then heads out, turning back towards the hospital. Freya looks like she wants to do the same, even reaches out, then pulls back and quickly retreats from the park.
Soon the only ones still around are Tai and Mattea, Alice and Tia, and Natsumi.
Alice shakes her head at Nora. "In a bit. I need to talk to Mattea first. Do you mind waiting?"
Natsumi takes Leia by the hand and wanders off down the forest trail.
Leia
You stroll along down the hiking trail with Natsumi. "So... Um... Thanks. Again. I, uh... Sorry. I was being stupid..."

"Your right Raine,". "We need to give her time,". "I just hope she knows I am truly thankful for everything she's done," Sam is very down trodden by what happens.
Sam reaches for Raine's hand and then just leans against her starting to cry.
"Raine sorry,". "Sorry for,". "Just sorry Raine,". "I was hoping that the weak me was behind me,". "But after today,". "I just feel so powerless again,". "Why can't I protect anyone?". "Why must the people I care about, my friends, my family, most importantly you always get hurt," Sam says in between weeping.
"Sorry I just need a moment to get this out,". "Thank you for just being here,". "Glad your here,". "Glad it's you here with me right now," Sam says to Raine

Leia seems a bit baffled by the statement, but not angry at all. It looks like some bit of confusion mixed with self-reflection.
"No... I'm sorry. I'm sorry I saw nothing. I should have seen it, because I understand it... I understand pain. I understand being broken.
I... I wasn't very honest with you. I implied things... But I never explained my situation to you.
I... I don't really want to talk about details, I just want you to know where I'm coming from... Why I left my hometown.
There was a school trip, which I decided not to go at. Those of us who didn't go had to still go to school and just... chill I guess. So we were around 30 people in the whole school that day. All compacted in the same room.
Then it happened. The real monster happened. No one know who he was, but he came to us with guns and shot at us..."
Leia seems to struggle to speak, but there's no tears. Her facial expression just looks like pure pain. She grabs Natsumi's hand harder which seems to give her the strenght to continue.
"Thing happen... It was just so crazy so fast. I saw an opening and ran. I fled. I left them all behind. Only survivor. That's me. And I still feel guilty... Maybe I could have jumped him instead... Maybe I could have taken someone with me. But I just decided to run away. Alone.
I had to leave. I couldn't bare ever returning there...
But whatever I felt about myself, you never saw it. You never saw the crazy useless coward I see when I look in the mirror."
A genuine smile seems to pierce through the pain.
"Now I'm some kind of superhero... That would have never happened without you...
Now, maybe I'm not choosing the best words... That's not my thing... But... Everyday we passed together, you helped me move away from my trauma...
So what I want to say is that whatever is happening with you, wether you want to talk about it or not, I will be there to support you as much as I possibly can. Because you did that to me of your own accord.
You're not stupid. You have emotions. And that's all there is to it."

"Sometimes the best thing to do - what you need to do for someone - is put on a brave face and act like someone people can rely on. Even if it's a lie. And hard to do."

"Jeez, you're making mine seem really dumb..." Natsumi says. "I just... realized I don't really know who I am or what I want... Y'know? When we were talking about jobs and college and stuff. I just kinda realized, well, I dunno what I want. I just kinda know what... other people want for me? And then I realized that I kinda... don't know a lot about who I am. Y'know? Natsumi is... Leia's girlfriend. Kiran and Freya and Buttons' friend. The head of the art club. But Natsumi's not really anyone on her own... She always thinks about who she is to other people. And does what other people expect her to do. She's always really worried about what people think about her, even if she acts like she doesn't. Hehe, I'm even talking like Mareena now." Natsumi rocks back and forth. "So, I think... I need to try to be more of my own person."
Dewey
You make your way back out into the city. As you move through the increasingly thin mists, you spot a few monsters still roaming around. You don't have to deal with them, as a group of police officers carrying strange weaponry and armor are patrolling the streets and keeping them in check. You also see a man you don't recognize carrying a large glaive on his back, helping them and coordinating what they're doing.

Floyd looks around having quickly found himself alone he looks hopefully to his phone seeing nothing he sets it back in his pocket. Floyd waves to Tai and Mattea as he leaves the park making his way over to Raine and Sam when he spots them, "It's a good thing it's not a lie in your case then isn't it Raine" He says using the opportunity to get in a stretch "I'm relying on you to look after Samwise here after all, stay safe the both of you I'm going to get my run in" He adds with a wink. He makes a mental note to pass by Ilya's apartment building as he takes off.

You run through the city, hearing the occasional monster in the distance. But nothing tries to start a fight with you. You manage to make it to Ilya's apartment building and press the buzzer. You give her a bit but no one answers, so you press it again. On the third try, you hear Ilya's voice crackling through the box. "What? Who's there?"
Dewey
The man makes a few rapid gestures at Dewey, then pauses and repeats them, slower. You aren't completely sure what they mean, but he seems to be pantomiming running away. Ah, that's an instruction for you. He points away from the center of town. It'll be a bit longer of a walk, but... From the looks of things and his general mood, the containment seems to be going well at least.
Leia
"Of course you're coming!" Natsumi says. "Just because I want to understand myself better and be more independent and stuff doesn't mean I'm gonna do it alone. It just means I need to understand... y'know... why I like being around people so much? Without relying on it or letting everyone tell me everything I should be doing... y'know? I mean, even getting into art was... not... me. It was mom that... y'know. Got me started with it. So maybe I only like it because of her? I dunno. I need to think about it more. But it'll be OK!"
Natsumi puts her hands on her hips. "And that was not eldritch. It was kinda cute. Oh, wait. No. I guess it did look kinda like that one... eldritch thing. Um... yogurt sauce?" She puts a finger on her lip as she thinks, then shrugs. "Buttons would know. But anyway, it'll be fine now! So... Do you wanna go... try to get some fish from the river and cook them for dinner, maybe?"
