Nora gives a small shrug. "Mostly fine, I suppose. The occasional restless night, but the last few nights have been fine."
She takes out a bagel herself. "I was hoping we would have a little bit more privacy than this, but I guess it is the beach on a Saturday..."
She leans her shoulder against Alice's, smiling. "I did learn some interesting things I wanted to share with you, but I also wanted to simply check up on you. Have you ever been kayaking? I bought one yesterday."

Sam
Sam is a little nervous that Tai is there with her. She was kinda of hoping to apologize to Freya alone. Well it can't be helped.
"Umm Tai is it?". "err umm hello". "Umm nice to see you again,". "I guess I can also apologize to you to,".
Sam seems really nervous but well she had to make sure things were cool with her and Freya.
"Oh hello Freya,". "Umm I guess the three of us can work out together,". "Umm that's if you want me around um still,". "You know because of the mess I caused and umm,".
Sam is getting awfully fidgety and seems to be a bit nervous.
"Sorry I caused such a huge mess for everyone,". "I already apologized to Tia,". "Even though I don't think she quite understands what a phobia is,". "So I wanted to make sure that I offered my sincere apology as well," Sam says to Freya and Tai.

"Oh. Hey, Tai. Sorry, I was supposed to meet with Sam today. Who... seems to be in a mood." Freya stops and scratches the back of her head. "Uh, yeah. You can go ahead and stop freaking out, Sam. I'm not upset."

Alice finishes chewing slowly. "Mm... Kayaking? No. But I did start to read some guides on how to do it. Then I stopped, because I figured it doesn't really matter..."

You head off alone. "Bye, Tai!" Freya calls after you. "Another time, OK?"
You start running down the beach when Kiran pulls up alongside you. "HEY TAI! You having fun on THE BEACH?" he asks, already out of breath after running the short distance to catch up.
Sam
You watch Tai run off, quickly intercepted by Kiran. Freya shakes her head. "Uh, anyway. I'm not mad at you or anything. Yeah. I'm just here training because it's good training. Sand's loose and hard to run and move around on. Totally different from solid ground."
Nora
Alice sighs. "I won't be directing anything, and it's not like I can go out in a kayak myself. My endurance still hasn't recovered. And besides..." Alice holds out her hand and you notice it shaking. It sounded like she was going to continue, but after an uncomfortably long time, she just shakes her head and silently takes another bit of her bagel.

Sam realizes she's going to that place again.
"Oh sorry,". "Oh wait maybe I shouldn't be apologizing so much,". "Umm sorry for that,".
"So umm what are you training for,". "If you don't mind me asking?" Sam asks

Natsumi drags you to a small seafood restaurant built halfway onto a pier, overlooking the water. The menu only lists things like sides and drinks, with a big erasable board on the wall listing what fish are available today, surrounded by pictures of seascapes and life preservers hung on the wall. "They have the best, freshest fish, usually caught that morning," Natsumi explains. "It's a little more expensive and you don't always know what they'll have but it's SO GOOD."
Tai
"Because... RUNNING... sucks...!" Kiran gasps, already falling behind. "Swimming is better, wanna do that? Fish don't have interpersonal problems. Uh, probably?"
Nora
Alice shakes her head. "It's not your fault, Nora... You haven't been insensitive. I'm just... stuck. All of this started just because I wanted to help... Somnis, then Tia, then that idiot Karl and Laura... and now no one wants my help and I'm not sure I could give it if they did..." She sighs. "I don't know what to do. I just... feel like I was used. Work and work and work to make the school as good as possible, make new clubs that shouldn't even have been approved, rebalance budgets... put together a team to help people in the Otherworld... I just... What's the point? At the end of the day all I have to show for it is a fucked-up body. The only thing notable about me is my mother..."
Sam
"I'm not training for anything in particular, just general endurance training" Freya says. "And don't call me 'Ms.' Freya... Just Freya. Anyway. Wanna join? Or do you wanna talk about whatever's going on with you and my sister? Because she's been acting really weird lately and I was kinda hoping you could help me figure out why."

Nora's quiet for a moment, still keeping Alice's hand in hers. "Well... I can't say if how you handled things in the past was right, or if the sacrifices were worth it... But I can say a few things. You've helped me more than you realize, turned what I expected to be a boring, dry few months into some of the best days I've had in years. Maybe ever. You are notable because of your wit and charm, because of how you carry yourself, and because of that beautiful, indomitable spirit that drew me to you. Not because of your mother. And, personally, I think you're gorgeous, dear. Your injuries don't change that."
Nora smiles. "You've helped people enough. You've done your part. It's about time you let someone else help you, hm?"

"Well we kinda of went on a date at the mall,". "It was going well and it seemed like we had a good time,". "We saw a movie had some ice cream,". "She kinda of kissed me on the cheek,". "Then I told her how I felt about her,". "How I had a crush on her and maybe wanted to become umm more intimate,". "I thought maybe I misread the situation and I jumped the gun,".
"Then all of a sudden she was like I deserve better,". "It's almost like she wanted to tell me something but is afraid to tell me,". "She was saying how she was a bad person and everything,". "I tried to tell her that she knew about my past and why I came here,". "Not sure if she told you why I really came here to Vitcity,". "I can always tell you why I really transferred,".
Sam tells Freya why she really transferred to Vitcity.
"So umm I know I been kinda of going on for a while but is their anything I can clear up for you?". "Have I said to much?". "Too little?".
Sam seems a little nervous but not as nervous as she was before when she told Floyd and Raine her secret.

"Hell yeah," Kiran says. "Y'know, we don't hang out much. Which is kinda weird, since aren't you friends with Natty? And Nat and I are, like, the best friends. Also, you're cute. In a kinda dark and brooding and mysterious way, y'know? Oh, but I heard you're taken, so. Oh well."
Despite his prattle and his ineptitude running on the beach, Kiran takes to the water like a fish and you struggle to keep up. Seems like he swims out here a lot.
Nora
"That's... very kind of you to say. But I've already spent so much time being babied in the hospital... And I've missed so much..." Alice says. "I... appreciate that you want to help, but I don't... even know how to be helped. I mean... I just don't know what my path forward is anymore... I don't just not know how to achieve my goals, I don't.. know what they are anymore. I don't... I don't know what to do..."
A particularly bold seagull takes advantage of Alice's distraction to sneak the half-bagel from her hand. She doesn't seem to notice.
"What... do you think, Nora? What do I do..."
Sam
"Eh. I dunno. To be honest, Raine can have a bit of a mean streak to her when she gets mad. I doubt you scared her off or anything. Not with that story or anything, anyway. She's just seemed kinda down lately. Crying a lot. She seems pretty upset about this whole thing." Freya stops her workout with a frown on her face. "She's keeping something from me. Which isn't like her... I mean I kinda understand why she didn't tell me about this Otherworld thing, but there's something else, too. You really don't have any idea what it might be?"
