FE: The Legend Rewritten

Flying in from above while Klaus is picking up random flowers, Kaguya lands next to him. "Klaus."

He turns to look at her. "Hi, Kaguya! I was just playing that game where you find all the yellow flowers and gather them up. Want to play?"

"Hmm..." She approaches closer, placing her face directly in front of Klaus' face.

"...Can I help you?"

"..." Kaguya pats Klaus on the head a couple of times. "...Soft."

"...What?"

"Hold still." Kaguya gives him a determined look. "I'm going to pet you."

"...What." Klaus slowly inches backward.

"I said I was going to pet you. Kitties are soft and cute. I must pet them all." She gets closer to Klaus.

"This got...really weird." Klaus steps back once again.

"...Stop moving away. Your fuzzy ears need pats...!"

"HAHA, YEAH, I'LL BE RIGHT THERE, SPIRIN!" Klaus turns away and darts down through the forest, away from Kaguya.

"...I won't give up chasing you until I've snuggled you properly!" She follows after relentlessly.

Having given up the chase for Klaus, Kaguya sits on top of the fort with her arms crossed, watching the setting sun. "Mumble grumble fuzzy kitty grumble grumble..."

"Hey, Kaguya, do you have a minute?" Zyl comes walking up from behind.

"What do you want this time, Zyl? You didn't fall out of a tree again, did you?"

"What? No, it's not that. This is actually something serious."

She turns to look at him over her shoulder. "Huh? Okay. Sit down then." She pats the empty spot next to her.

Zyl takes a seat next to her and fiddles with his gauntlets a bit. "It's uh...about me being the prince."

"Yeah, what about it?"

"I mean. I get that I'm the Kitsune Prince. But, well, you know..."

"You're not a Kitsune."

"...Yeah. That." Zyl sighs. "I don't feel like anyone takes me seriously because of that."

"Explain."

"Well...I'm supposed to be the Kitsune Prince, right? But I'm not a Kitsune. I'm a Beorc. And I'm not even blood related to any Kitsune. A lot of people really hate that. The Beorc spent years oppressing the Kitsune and Laguz in general. Now one of them is supposed to lead them? What kind of insane plan is that?"

"Hmph." Kaguya looks slightly annoyed. "That kind of thinking is pointless. You aren't responsible for what others of your race did, are you?"

"I guess not, but-"

"Then don't worry about that stuff. You aren't oppressing anyone. You aren't even an outsider to our home. You were born and raised here. It's not like some stranger is taking over the Kitsune tribe. This is your rightful place."

"Yeah, but-"

"And the people will come to realize that they can't judge you for being a Beorc once they get to know you. It won't be easy, I get that. But don't let being a Beorc weigh you down. Once you get over all that, once the hard part's over, I'm sure you'll make a great ruler."

"...Thanks, Kaguya. I'm...not really sure if I agree or not, but...thanks."

"Go get some sleep. You look tired."

"Right. Uh. Goodnight then."

"Night."
