Those that faced it could only tremble in fear as they prayed for the end to be quick. Only thirteen could stand to face it and battle it. Thirteen heroes with legendary weapons in hand. Together, they sealed away this force of evil, but it was said that one day it would break free again to terrorize the world. Only then could the descendants of the heroes reassemble to defeat it. However, the heroes could not accomplish their mission. Unable to succeed, they faced defeat because of one dragon’s fatal mistake. The denial of his fate. Through this, he cursed the world, leading destiny to destruction. The Great Demon, once sealed away, now roams free, making his home in the ruins of Lux, the holy city. The only thing keeping his dark influence at bay is what little remains of the Elder Dragon, Nova’s power. While his body may have passed on, his spirit binds the demon to the cathedral in Lux, where the Archbishop, Alexander, battles with him eternally. With the absence of an Elder Dragon and both Ryner and Lute nowhere to be found in the aftermath, the city of Drakus, home of the Manaketes, was abandoned as it was no longer blessed with everflowing life. The Manaketes spread throughout the world, in search of new homes, and soon became a commonplace sight, something vastly different from the rarity of around twenty years ago. Having been conquered by the Laguz tribes of Sidhe, Opulentus, the land of wealth, had melded together with Laguz culture. While there was quite the uproar, Princess Elay of Umbra took up her new position as Queen of Opulentus and worked with the new Queen of Sidhe: her wife, Kress, to restore order and unite the two cultures. No longer would Laguz be looked down upon, but considered equals. Opulentians and Laguz would live together in harmony. Given a new position by the Queen of Opulentus, her Royal Mage, Darik, became the new King of Umbra. He vowed to continue pursuing magic and would do his best to make the late King Arthur proud. His wife, Shizuka, strengthened the bond between Umbra and Daravia. Under the new leadership of Shizuka and with the help of Umbra, Daravia prospered. Thanks to a nameless dragon and his allies, the bandit king had been wiped out and Shizuka succeeded her father as her sister, Shi, had disappeared in the aftermath of the Great Demon’s release. Now Daravia is known as a rich merchant trade hub and was dubbed the “Oasis of Art”. Many dancers, painters, and musicians travel here in hopes of becoming big stars one day. As for the cold, snowy nation of Glaewood...Well, not much remains of it. It was entirely wiped out by the Great Demon’s awakening. However, some claim to be rescued from monsters by groups of warriors that part with only a simple few words. “The Glaewood’s strength lives on in us.” Sadly, the world cannot enjoy a moment of respite. It cannot have peace. For monsters crawl the world of Legerran in seemingly endless waves. The armies of the many nations stand and fight against them, but it appears to be a hopeless battle as the enemies become stronger every day. Regardless, a spark of hope continues to keep these nations alive. They will not give in to their destiny. The legendary weapons respond to this desperate cry. One more chance. One final battle for mankind to prove themselves. Will the descendants of the heroes be capable of defeating the Great Demon once and for all? This is their story. The story of three heroes. Vanya held her breath as she watched the deer pause for a drink of water. Her bow, Aurus, was drawn and her stance was ready. It had a faint, blue glow to it with a wing-like design. She exhaled as her fingers released the tight bowstring, sending an arrow into the air. It flew with precision and purpose, striking the deer perfectly. "Amazing! Vanya, you really are a prodigy, aren't you?" Emerging from the brush behind her, Vanya's childhood friends, Celeste and Kimar, walked toward her. Celeste, always a fan of Vanya's archery, had an excited glimmer in her blue eyes. Her hair was worn in a single, long, blonde braid that came around her left shoulder and rested there. A white circlet with a single, orange feather was worn on her head. As well, she had a green, sleeveless top that revealed part of her midriff. Brown leather straps crossed each other over her chest and held the quiver on her back in place. Leather gloves were worn on each hand and plain, beige shorts that were wearing away at the edges left her legs exposed. Leather boots that matched her gloves protected her feet from the potential ivy and thorns of the forest. Kimar traveled rather light as well. His black hair was short and his eyes matched it. While he was shirtless, he did have tribal markings drawn on his upper body with red paint as well as a necklace made of black string and white fangs. Wearing shorts in a similar fashion to Vanya, his were a bit longer, covering down to just above his shins and appeared to be torn at the ends. Instead of boots, Kimar had sandals on. After all, it is more difficult to feel a connection to the forest when you're entirely covered. "Three deer should provide plenty of food." Kimar was a man of few words. He preferred to let his spear do the talking. "Well Aurus didn't choose me for nothing." Vanya gave Celeste a grin as she brushed a bit of her hair out of her face. Despite the fact she wore her hair back in a ponytail, a few strands of brown always seemed to escape toward the front. Her eyes had a golden color to them, giving off the feel of a true hunter. She even had a scar over her right eye like a real warrior. A relic of a past battle. She dressed similarly to Celeste and the others in her tribe. A brown, sleeveless top that revealed her midriff, leather gloves, worn shorts, and leather boots. However, she was distinguished by the deep green cape she wore. Not only was it stylish, but it helped her stay camouflaged in the forest's overgrowth. "Still, I am a little concerned." She held Aurus in front of her and looked it over. "Aurus may have chosen me, but it has yet to activate and unleash its true potential..." Vanya frowns. Celeste takes note of her expression and makes her way over. "Hey, what's with that face? Cheer up! I'm sure Aurus is just sleeping right now. It'll wake up when the time is right." Vanya sighs. "Yeah, well, it would be nice if that time was now. The monsters only get worse by the day. If Aurus doesn't wake up soon..." Celeste begins to waver a bit. "H-Hey...! Don't talk like that! Everything will be alright, I'm sure of it." She then smiles and pokes Vanya's nose. "Because we've got you to help us! The best archer around!" Vanya lets out a small laugh and places Aurus on her back as she inspects the arrows in her quiver, worn around her waist. "Well I can't argue with that logic." Feeling as if she managed to make the situation a bit brighter, Celeste shows a genuine smile. Kimar, however, tenses up. "...Did you hear that?" "...Doogs." Vanya prepares her bow, pointing it at a nearby group of trees. Out from behind them, two sets of snarling jaws creep forward. The red demon dogs salivate, thinking of the delicious blood before them. Celeste shakes a bit and reaches for her own bow. "M-Monsters...! I'll...I'll help you fight them, Vanya." "There's more." Kimar's eyes dart over by a nearby source of water, fixing on a group of Mogalls. Their eyes scan the area before catching sight of the group. "So we're fighting two packs of monsters? Fine then. Bring it on." A confident smirk makes its way on Vanya's face. "Vanya, look." Kimar points out the Arch Mogall leading the monsters. It appears to be using the forest's trees to gain a defensive advantage. "Sneaky little bugger. Looks like they know how to use the field to their advantage..." Celeste speaks up. "Y-Yes...I remember now. We can use the trees to evade attacks and the water makes it difficult for enemies to move. So we have the advantage...!" Vanya shakes her head. "Mogalls can fly. They won't be affected by the water, but they can still use the trees for cover. We'll be slowed down by the trees and can't cross the water, however." "So w-we're the ones at a disadvantage...!?" Running forward, Kimar starts the charge. He lunges forward and thrusts his spear into one of the Mauthe Doogs, landing a solid blow. It yelps before growling back and snapping its jaws at Kimar. He keeps calm and blocks the attack with his spear, pushing the Doog back.
Mauthe Doog receives 5 damage
Blocked! Kimar receives no damage
Vanya moves in a bit closer, carefully aiming her bow at the same Doog. Letting the arrow fly, it pierces the Doog's side, causing it to tumble to the ground. "One down..."
Mauthe Doog receives 10 damage
Mauthe Doog was defeated!
Celeste moves in next to Kimar. "Kimar, look out!" She takes out an arrow and tosses it in the air, jumping up in a backflip and grabbing it to launch into the Doog. "I'll show you I can fight too!" The arrow hits the enemy Doog square in the head, taking it out with a single shot.
"Impressive," Kimar remarks.
Critical Hit! Mauthe Doog receives 15 damage
Mauthe Doog was defeated!
As the second Doog falls, the remaining Doog approaches closer, giving a threatening growl. The Mogalls follow its lead and float closer to the group, stopping just barely out of reach. Vanya assesses the situation carefully. "We'll need to make the right moves or those Mogalls will take us out with their magic. Should we try to take them out first or go for a more defensive strategy...?"

Celeste looks around at the incoming enemies, feeling a cold sweat dripping down her face. She then darts off toward the Mogalls, ducking under a nearby tree and readying an arrow.
"What the- Celeste!" Vanya notices her friend charging at the enemies. "Godsdammmit..."
The enemy Mogall is hit in the side by Celeste's arrow before turning toward her. She lets out a small "Eep!" as it's eye flashes with a shadowy purple color. Magic rings form around Celeste, but she leaps straight up into the air as the slash past each other, missing her. She kicks off the side of her nearby tree and fires another arrow midair, hitting the Mogall and taking it down. "Phew..."
Mogall receives 5 damage
Miss! Celeste receives no damage
Mogall receives 5 damage
Mogall was defeated!
Celeste reaches level 2! Celeste's Skill, Speed, and Resistance increase by 1!
"I'm getting better every day..."
"Celeste! What are you doing!?" Vanya launches an arrow into the remaining Mauthe Doog, taking it out with a single shot.
"Oh, wow, good shot, Vanya!"
"You airhead! Those Mogalls are going to come after you now!"
Mauthe Doog receives 10 damage
Mauthe Doog was defeated!
Vanya reaches level 2! Vanya's Health, Skill, and Speed increase by 1!
"What else were you expecting from a prodigy?"
Kimar stays close to Vanya, watching the enemy Mogalls.
The enemies start to swarm around the trees where Celeste hides. The smaller Mogall chases after her, moving close to her. She lets out a startled shout as a sharp ring of dark magic is flung into her. It cuts into her arm, leaving a deep wound.
Celeste receives 6 damage
The Arch Mogall moves in closer and Celeste finds herself surrounded. "N-No...! Not another one...!" Its eye flashes as multiple dark rings fly out from around it, spinning in a dark circle. Celeste desperately tries to evade, but there are too many. Multiple rings slash past her, leaving heavy gashes until she falls to the ground.
Celeste receives 9 damage
"I guess this is where I die. Vanya...I-I'm sorry I couldn't help you. I really am useless..." Tears begin to roll down her eyes as she rests her head on the grass. "If only...I could be stronger..." Her eyes slowly close as her life fades away.
"Celeste...!? Celeste!" Vanya shouts to Celeste, but she's already gone. "No...No, this wasn't supposed to happen. Not now..." Vanya grits her teeth, gripping onto her bow tightly. "...Let's kill these bastards."
Kimar closes his eyes. "...Understood." He opens them and readies his spear.

Kimar moves forward, engaging the Arch Mogall from the side.
"Those that kill fellow tribesman...must die." Kimar lands a stab on the Arch Mogall. It turns toward him and its eye flashes as multiple rings fly out around it and surround Kimar. He skillfully dodges and weaves his way through the circles with multiple close calls, but it seems he's lucky today.
Arch Mogall receives 3 damage
Miss! Kimar receives no damage
Vanya then moves in while Kimar keeps the Arch Mogall busy. She unleashes a powerful shot from her bow, hitting the Arch Mogall in the eye and causing it to let out an angered screech. More rings fly out from its body and circle around Vanya, but she manages to avoid them and fires another arrow at the Arch Mogall. Messed up by the rapid movement, she misses the enemy and hits a tree instead. "Dammit...!"

Miss! Arch Mogall receives no damage
The remaining Mogall stays within the forest and snares Kimar within its own dark rings. He was so caught up with the Arch Mogall he nearly forgot about the other enemy. The rings cut him up a bit, but he manages to survive.

The Arch Mogall's movements start to slow. It seems like it's finally wearing down...

Vanya steps behind a nearby tree, evading the chaos of the multiple dark rings and preparing another arrow aimed directly at the Arch Mogall. As she releases it, it flies directly into the pupil of its eye. The Arch Mogall lets out one last shriek before falling to the ground dead. "Good riddance." Vanya spits on its dead body. Long range spit.
Arch Mogall receives 8 damage
Arch Mogall was defeated!
Vanya reaches level 3! Vanya's Strength, Skill, Speed, and Defense increase by 1!
"Nobody escapes Aurus' judgement."
The remaining Mogall continues its attack on Kimar, throwing another dark circle into him. "Ngh..."

Kimar steadies himself with his spear. "Only one left..."

Vanya steps back and unleashes one last arrow from her bow. The remaining Mogall is shot in the center of its eye like the leader before it, falling to its death.

Vanya reaches level 4! Vanya's Health, Strength, Skill, Speed, and Defense increase by 1!

With the battle over, Vanya helps Kimar stand, having him lean on her shoulder. The two of them start to head back home in silence.
"...Dammit. This is all my fault." Vanya kicks a nearby stone, sending it flying into the woods.
"It is not your fault." Kimar speaks through deep gasps of air. "This happens every day. The monster attacks have been getting worse. Our tribe is dwindling in number. And the forest is slowly dying..."
"I...I already know! Just...shut up." Vanya continues to walk along. "Save your energy. I don't...I don't need you dying too."
Kimar stays silent as he walks with Vanya. The sad tragedy of the fact is they should be used to this. One by one, they're all slowly being picked off by the endless monsters. One by one, the calamity has been destroying them...

The Raven Tribe, living within the forests of Sylphera, is one of the few remaining civilizations on the continent of Anima. The forest they desperately rely on for their food and water has been slowly dying out since the release of the Great Demon and with it, countless monsters appear every day to haunt the tribesman. The other two remaining nations, Mechanis and Rovania, have had their fair share of hardship as well. Not only is the forest of Sylphera dying, but the entire continent of Anima is slowly beginning to crumble. Earthquakes shake the land, tsunamis wash away entire cities, and resources begin to dwindle.
Searching for a solution, representatives of Mechanis and Rovania approach the major tribes of Sylphera for assistance...

Under the starry night, Vanya sits by her fire, cooking her catches of the day. She's lucky she was able to get Kimar back to the Raven Camp in time. She glances back at the tent behind her, wondering if he's still asleep.
She's soon met by another group of figures in the dark. "Vanya. A man from Rovania is here to speak with you."
Her eyes look up to meet those of the elder. His wise face looks serious and stern. He steps aside as another man takes his place in front of Vanya.
"Hello, Vanya. It's nice to meet you. My name is Rex." She takes a look at his features, familiarizing herself with his face. Golden hair. Golden eyes. Very Rovanian. He wears very light armor. A silver chest plate, matching gauntlets, and armored boots. There seems to be a blue design on it. Very Rovanian. He's also got some sort of blue crystal on a necklace. "I wanted to ask if you would accompany me on a mission."
Vanya avoids showing any emotion in her face. "...A mission?"
"Yes. I understand that you're a very skilled archer and...well, I need your help with something." Rex takes a deep breath. "We've discovered a way to end the calamity at the top of Mt. Vulkan. And we need Aurus for it."
"Aurus?" Her interest is piqued.
"Yes. We can stop the source of the monsters if you come with us. It's...the only option we have left. We can finally stop them from claiming anymore lives..."
Vanya looks at the fire, clenching her fist tightly.
...
"...Okay. I'll go with you."
The air feels a little lighter. Rex smiles. "Thank you. We're going to be setting out tomorrow afternoon, so make sure you're prepared, alright?"
She nods and the group before her heads off, leaving only the elder behind. Vanya shares a look with him, almost speaking without words. Is this the right choice? Is Vanya needed here instead? But how could you even ask such questions in a situation like this? You need to take this. It's the only chance we have of putting an end to this.
The elder heads off and Vanya stands.

The next morning, Vanya finds herself sitting on the edge of a tall cliff overlooking the forest. It's quiet here. She feels as if she can see everything. The clouds, the birds, the trees...
"Good morning, Vanya." Kimar walks up from behind. She glances behind to see him and continues to look out at the world as she responds.
"...Morning."
Kimar silently takes his place, sitting beside Vanya. "...You are thinking about Celeste."
"...Yeah." Her fist grips the grass nearby tightly.
"You believe it is your fault."
"...I do."
Kimar shakes his head. "I cannot tell you how to feel. I cannot convince you it is not your fault. You are too stubborn for that."
"..."
"...Do you want to perform a proper sending before we leave?"
Vanya is silent a moment before she nods.
"I will make the preparations. We will give Celeste the honor a true warrior deserves." He stands.
He then turns his head to Vanya and looks at her a moment before reaching down a hand. She takes one last look out at the horizon before taking it and standing back up. The two head back to their village together.

Chapter 1 - Oasis of Art"Come and get yer fresh fish! Jus' two gold a pound! Best deal in Daravia!" Such merchant calls were common in Oasis. The capital of Daravia was a busy place. Many artists and musicians gathered here to practice their craft and many merchants came to sell their wares to those that watched. Truly a land of paradise. "It's so nice to see another peaceful day here. If only Tsuki were here! She would be so proud of my hard work. I must be the best guard ever!" Reyol grins to herself as she patrols around Oasis. Her silver hair matches her father's and fox ears poke out from underneath it. Her black armor has an opening in the back so that her tail can fit through as well. Thanks to the increased security and Lupis, head of the royal guard, Daravia has become one of the most prosperous nations in the world. A small grumble of protest interrupts Reyol's musings. Walking by her side is a black wyvern. "What do you mean it's all because of father's hard work!? Hilda, don't be so mean!" The wyvern lets out what sounds like an odd snicker. "How am I supposed to impress Tsuki if my own wyvern doesn't respect me...?" She sighs and continues on until suddenly stopping. "GET BACK HERE, YOU LITTLE THIEF!" Suddenly, charging down the streets of the town, a muscular man appears to be hunting down a dancer. The dancer wears red, poofy pants that are quite flowy and half transparent along with a matching red scarf. Luckily, it looks like he's got some kind of black shorts on underneath the pants so nothing's showing. He wears a red vest with gold trim to barely cover his upper body as well. Finally, he's got a small, red feather earring on his left ear. His eyes and hair are both a fiery red. Chasing after him is a burly man carrying an axe. He's got black boots on along with dark trousers. His ripped arms are completely revealed by his sleeveless blue and white shirt and he wears a blue bandanna on his head. His eyes and hair match his clothes' watery blue color. The two go charging past Reyol, nearly knocking her over. "H-Hey, what do you think you're doing!?" The dancer apologizes as he runs past. "Sorry, cute and fuzzy, but I gotta get out of here!" "C-Cute and...! I'll show you cute and fuzzy! Hilda, let's get 'em!" She hops aboard her wyvern as the three scramble through the city. It's not long, however, before the sound of a loud crash is heard followed by mass panic. "Alright, listen up! You can all surrender peacefully and nobody gets hurt. But if you struggle, we're gonna kill ya AND take your stuff!" What looks like a group of bandits has descended upon the town during the chaos of Reyol chasing those other two criminals. Cinder, the dancer, lets out a sigh. "Seriously? I just lost those other guys and now you're going to get in my way? Fine, fine. But you're going to have to answer to my magic." Fjord, the muscular man from before, seems rather annoyed. "You're going to intrude on my turf? This is pirate territory! Get lost, bandits!" Reyol wants to scream. "Why are there so many criminals out today!? I just wanted to impress Tsuki!" "Eh...I'll have to get through them if I want to get out of here." He looks over and notices the guy that was giving the commands earlier by the oasis. "Maybe if I kill the leader they'll back down and I can find a way out." He then looks at the sand and grins. "At least they'll all be slowed down because of the sand. Lucky for me, I don't have to worry about heavy weight stuff weighing me down." One of the nearby goons shouts to him. "What are you doing?" "Shut up, I'm monologuing over here!"

Reyol quickly flies in toward one of the mercenaries on the left, diving down and striking through them with her axe. She advances onward, through the enemy ranks. "I won't let any criminals escape!"
Mercenary receives 10 damage
Mercenary was defeated!
Fjord runs past Reyol as she flies in and swings his axe into the other mercenary. He lands an effective blow as they stumble back, but the Mercenary retaliates with a slash of their own only to be blocked!

"Hold it right there, criminal!" Reyol attempts to stop Fjord.
"Seriously!? Is now REALLY the time for this!?"
"U-Uh...Well..."
"Just shut up and focus on fighting off these bandits. I still have to find that thief..."
Meanwhile, on the other side of the buildings, Cinder takes a step back and watches the incoming enemies carefully. "Maybe I should play it defensively..."
The enemy Barbarians begin to advance with the first one stepping up in front with a strong swing. Cinder manages to evade, bending over backwards and going into a handstand. "Alright, let's see how you like it." Cinder hops up on his feet and pulls out a glowing, red tome. His eyes fill with a fiery blaze. "Burn to ash!" Three pillars of flame appear around the enemy bandit before converging together and transforming into a phoenix as a loud "Scree!" sounds throughout the area. Nothing remains of the enemy.

Critical Hit! Barbarian receives 45 damage
Barbarian was defeated!
"Wh-What the...!?" The remaining barbarian runs away from Cinder in horror, heading toward the leader. Pegasus Knights and Mages advance forward, marching toward the party. The injured Mercenary follow suit with the Barbarian and runs away, toward the enemy leader.
Cinder grins. "Good. Looks like it should be easier to get through now."

Fjord gives chase after the fleeing mercenary and quickly catches up as the enemy trips over a patch of sand. "Just where do you think you're going?" He jumps upward and slams his axe into the enemy's back to finish him. "I told you not to mess with me."
Mercenary receives 8 damage
Mercenary was defeated!
Reyol flies in toward the group of enemy mages as quickly as she can. "Darting through the skies! Justice captures all evildoing criminals!" The unsuspecting mage is struck from the side and falls as Reyol zooms past him.
Mage receives 11 damage
Mage was defeated!
Reyol reaches level 2! Reyol's Health, Strength, Skill, Luck, and Defense increase by 1!
"I'm getting stronger! Do you think Tsuki will notice...?"
Cinder moves forward, his eyes set on the closest enemy mage. "Let's see if the Phoenix favors you!" Cinder creates a pillar of flame from beneath the enemy mage, incinerating him. "Nope! Heheh."
Mage receives 12 damage
Mage was defeated!
Cinder reaches level 2! Cinder's Skill, Speed, and Luck increase by 1!
"Improvement? I'll take it!"
"I've found you, criminal!" Reyol points dramatically at Cinder.
"Oh, it's you. Do you mind helping me out a bit? These guys are being a really big nuisance and I could really use your help. You definitely seem like the strongest guard, after all!"
Reyol blushes a bit and scratches her head. "Oh, well when you put it like tha- Wait a minute, you're a criminal too!"
"We can deal with that later. Right now these guys are the big threat, okay?"
"Fine, but don't think you're off the hook because of this!" Reyol grumbles a bit as the enemy units start to shuffle around.
The barbarian next to Reyol turns to face her and swings his axe, uppercutting Hilda. The dragon turns back to face the barbarian and roars angrily, slamming a claw into him to create a deep slash.
Reyol receives 3 damage
Barbarian receives 8 damage
Continuing forward, an enemy Pegasus Knight swoops down and lands a glancing blow on Cinder, grazing his arm and leaving a small cut. "Ow, that hurt, you know!" Cinder retaliates with a powerful jet of flame, knocking the rider from the sky. "Nice and toasty."
Pegasus Knight receives 12 damage
Pegasus Knight was defeated!
The other Pegasus Knight advances and it looks like the enemy leader is starting to move from his place on the map.

Cinder advances behind Reyol and creates a pillar of flame beneath the enemy barbarian. Expecting an attack, the barbarian steps to the side and evades, only to be blasted by a jet of flame released from Cinder's hand. "Whoops! Nice try, but you can't just stare at your feet all day!"

Cinder reaches level 3! Cinder's Health, Magic, Skill, and Resistance increase by 1!
"Huh. Is this surge related to Phoenix's power...?"
Coming up from the south, Fjord targets the nearby Pegasus Knight. He takes a swing with his axe, but the knight predicts his movements and maneuvers the pegasus out of the way. They retaliate with a stab, but Fjord manages to swat away the enemy's lance with his axe.
Miss! Pegasus Knight receives no damage
Blocked! Fjord receives no damage
Deciding Cinder and Fjord have the situation handled here, Reyol moves into position, watching the Berserker approach. She takes a moment to breathe.
Cinder, however, has no time for such things as breathing. The enemy Pegasus Knight disengages from Fjord and flies at him, landing what would have been a dangerous stab if Cinder didn't move. He covers his arm a bit in an attempt to stop the bleeding while calling forth another jet of flame to blast the Pegasus Knight out of the air.
