Tai glares at the nun. Eithout thinking twice, he draws on her, holding one pistol towards her.
"I respect ghe institution of the church, of all religion, but do not mistake my respect for obedience when I'm trying to save my friend."
Kai
Kai sighs. "Alright. I'll be back."
He heads up the stairs quickly, heading towards the very top, figuring that Natsumi's absence likely means she's been caught on the ground floor.

"Oh?" The nun asks. She tilts her head back a bit, more clearly revealing her face. She opens her eye, revealing eerie, solid-white eyes with no pupils. "You shouldn't be making threats in this sacred place."
"Now, now. Let's back things down a few steps..." the witch says. "We'd like her to come with us. To the hospital. For a few tests, just to be sure she's OK."
"I said leave me alone! I need to get to Master!" Natsumi yells. Still tied up, she struggles to stand, carefully aims a kick, then launches her other shoe into Tai's shoulder. She starts wriggling her hand towards her pocket, probably for her soul key.

You arrive at the church to find... absolutely nothing obviously changed.

"We just need you to come to the hospital, Natty! Please. For me." He loosens his grib on the lasso and looks at her pleadingly. He stays physically alert, though, ready for whatever comes next.
Kai rushes to the tops of the stairs, past the ground floor and towards the top of the tower.

You and your partner wander around the temple. You don't see anything that makes you think of blue ears. But you do very quickly run into someone who's willing to answer your question about the temple.
"Temple? There's a few here, but... it sounds like they were talking about the Temple of Space. It's back in the town square," one of the mushroom-headed guys tell you. "But you need a passport to go through. You can request one at the castle, or ask some of the bigger merchants if you know some people."
As you wander around, you notice an... interesting scene. That red-dressed witch and the teenage boy in the black outfit you saw in the town square are currently facing off with what appears to be a nun and a shrine maiden. The boy currently has a pair of guns out and is holding the shrine maiden lassoed, while the nun is staring at the scene with blank, white eyes.

You proceed up the stairs. There's so many stairs. Your legs are starting to get a bit tired by the time you reach the top landing. There's a large tower - the center and tallest of five in the building - with four windows. A huge, brass bell is hanging from the ceiling. It's carved with an innate (but seemingly meaningless) pattern. A well-worn rope dangles nearby.
Tai
Natsumi flashes as she takes on her otherworld form. She keeps pulling against the rope. "I don't need to go to the hospital, Tai. I need to go to Master. He might need me!"

Tai's guns go flying up as someone barges in. Which yanks the girl still tied to one stagger forward and fall on her face.
"We're having a friendly discussion," the nun says.
The shrine maiden leans her head up. "No we aren't! I need to go help my friend, and they won't let me!"
"We're taking you to the hospital! You need help!" the witch says.

I'm going to take a page from Pathfinder and say considering their nature, it's possible to yank Tai's guns in a different direction but not pull them out of his hands.

More like, use it to be agile and climb doen the roof, but parachut would work if it comes to that.

You slip into the dancer's garb, look out the window, and start feeling for footholds. You manage to find a few loose stones and cracks and slowly lower yourself a few body lengths. It's a lot harder than you expect. You make it about halfway from the tower's top to the main roof before losing your grip and falling the rest of the way. You thud onto your butt, more embarrassed than injured. Fortunately no one is up here to see you.
Getting down from the roof to the ground is quite a bit easier, thanks to a helpful overhang you manage to drop onto.
