Kiran loudly suggests everyone run away. Meanwhile, Tai gets ready for a fight, and Leia suggests ramming the thing.
Mattea, the one with the keys, seems to be torn for a moment, then decides Tai presents the most convincing argument. She pops the trunk and produces a baseball bat and tire iron. She and Tai proceed to beat the everloving crap out of the thing while screaming about how she's going to whoop its ass.
The monster slaps Tai back, and picks Mattea up. It chucks her towards the bus stop, but Natsumi catches- er, tries to catch her. The two of them go rolling across the ground, while Leia picks up some rocks and starts chucking them at the monster. It does not appreciate the stony gifts.
Buttons takes a more direct approach, running up and punching the monster in the... face. Is that a face? It's the closest thing the monster has, anyway. Buttons clutches his hand and mentions how hard the thing is. Kiran just has to see for himself, so he tries punching it, too.
Yep, that's a hard carapace.
The monster, for some reason, starts to scuttle off back into the portal. It has a few cracks in the shell and whatnot. Huh. "Why were we running from this thing?" Kiran thinks to himself. "It wasn't so tough."
"Huh. Still. I hit that thing with my shovel. Hard. And it didn't even flinch. I thought it would be tougher than that," Buttons says.
Huh. So that thing was somehow weaker? Kiran rubs his head. "Maaaaybeeeee... Monsters are weaker in our world?"
Buttons shrugs.
"Ow..." Natsumi mutters.
"Ow," Mattea agrees. "That was a 'great' catch... Well. At least you tried. I guess."
"You're welcome," Natsumi says sarcastically. "Would you get off me, please?"
Mattea hops up, then pulls Natsumi to her feet. She glances over at Tai. "Thank you, Natsumi. I really appreciate the gesture." She leans down and gives Natsumi a peck on the cheek. "It was very sweet. Are you OK?"
"Um. I'm fine?" Natsumi looks confused.
Kiran glares at Mattea. Out of the corner of his eye, he notices Buttons doing the same.
"Hey Kiran! Are you okay, dude!?" Kiran is snapped out of it as Tai slaps him on the back. "You were great man."
Huh?
"Well now that the shitshow's over, can we finally go home? Thanks for all your help and for not dying. I know I can be an ass, but I'm glad everyone's fine."
