Alice continues yanking on Iora's ankles with no luck making her budge. "Yes we passed, but it was... really close...!" She pauses to catch her breath. "If we have a day we can train freely, there's no reason it can't be fun. Why not use our free time to do something enjoyable as training and practice working together, too? Instead of the usual."

If Iora won’t let go of her own accord, Cantrelle will start prying her fingers off the bedpost.

"No-o-o-o-o..." Iora complains. With your combined efforts, it still takes a few minutes to get her out of bed, where she sits sulking at the foot, wrapped in her cloak. "Fine... If you're so insistent about traaaaiiiiining together, you can come swimming with me..."
"I thought we could go do a performance in town, like Cantrelle would like," Alice says.
"What is this about training together?" Fenian asks. "I do not mind. Could I recommend going on a hike in the woods? It seems likely that we will have future tests there as well, and besides the obvious chance to exercise, knowing the area some would be beneficial. Plus it may be a chance to meet some of the fae when they are not trying to delay us."
"Yeah..." Alice says. "But then again, what's the chance they throw us right back in there? We haven't had a test in the town yet, it would be more likely we do something there soon."
"Laaaaake," Iora says.
Everyone turns to look at Cantrelle to break the tie.

"Booooooo," Iora whines.
"No whining," Alice commands. "And you heard her. Get dressed, we're going for a hike! Then I'll teach you how to dance. Or sing, your choice."
"I would prefer dancing," Fenian says. "I still am not comfortable with this language..."
"Why would I go-o-o-o-o-o?" Iora asks.
"Would you rather sit around and deal with me annoying you?" Alice asks.
Iora stares at her for a moment, then groans and gets up.

Rishan looks over the paper and nods "All right I'll grab this for you, good luck everyone try not to let it get to you" Rishan bids the others farewell before getting ready and setting out for town.

You return to your room with a wide selection of snacks from the bakery. You look around to find that the others haven't returned yet. Erin stalks in not far behind you. "Right, you want to learn about desert romance... I did warn you." She grabs Misha's shoulders and kisses her, quickly pulling away and slinking across the room. She sits on her bed, innocently, as Balthazar steps in.
Balthazar looks between the two of of you. "Breakfast went well?"

Misha shakes her head at Erin's display of innocence, smiling. There's a bright, noticeable blush on her cheeks for a moment, there and gone in a flash as she composes herself. She walks over to her bunk and plops down onto the edge, setting aside the box of pastries and bending down to unlace her boots.
"Your training go well?"

You return to the dormitories to find you're the last one back. Balthazar and Misha look like they just got back as they change out of their armor and winter clothes. Erin and Misha both have a collection of sweets sitting on a table nearby.
Ray, Misha
"Feels like I hit a wall," Balthazar grunts, taking off his helmet. "Armor's just not responding as fast as it should. Dunno what's wrong with it. Or me."
"Nothing you can do about it tonight," Erin says, sitting on her bed. She gestures at a plate of assorted cookies on her desk. "Eat some sweets and get some of your pep- oh, Ray. You come get some, too. Misha brought a selection of stuff, and I brought a few different kinds of cookies. The locals really seem to like playing with frosting..."

"Oh? Thanks a lot, I swam a lot, so I am indeed hungry now that I think about it..."
Ray will start by taking one cookie as if to not want to eat more or faster than the others.

Misha nods, finishing removing her boots and jacket before opening the pastry box. "Yes."
She grabs a pastry and takes a bite before turning back to Balthazar. "Whenever I hit a wall in my training, I assume the problem is me and approach it from a different angle. Sometimes I use different perspectives. Or imagination. I started imaginary battle drill training to hone my predictive abilities when I was six. Don't mind sitting in for one of your sessions if you think another perspective might help."

"No, I mean there's something wrong with how the joints are moving," Balthazar explains. "I don't know if they're seizing up from something I've started doing or if there's something that's changed with the armor itself. Maybe the cold has made some of the smaller pieces warp, or maybe something is making it rust somehow... I suppose I should visit one of the local blacksmiths on my next day off and see how they weatherproof their armor here."
"Do you really need armor?" Erin asks. "You're studying magic."
"Yes, I could defend myself with spells. But if I can minimize my focus on defense, it lets me concentrate on other things." Balthazar finishes setting his armor away and takes a cookie.

Misha nods, thinking. "Armor is necessary for any soldier, even a mage. That's one area I still don't have much experience in... My family could never afford it. I've tested Sharpshooter with a bow and arrow and Marksman with a crossbow, and I'm an Expert swordswoman. I'm suited more to quick engagements, scout work, and commanding, than prolonged frontline combat."

Misha, Ray, Erin, Balthazar
"Desert tribes don't wear much armor at all," Erin says. "Makes it too hard to fight in the sands. Too heavy, too hot. Anything more than a light breastplate becomes a bigger threat to your life than the things it's there to protect you from."
"Hm. Ray, why don't you help me look at the armor on the next day we have free?" Balthazar asks.
"And Misha, why don't you help me practice fighting without armor the next day we have free?" Erin smiles. "It would be difficult to practice in as little as I'd normally wear in this weather, but..."
Room 2
Fenian, Iora, Cantrelle, Alice
When you make it back to the room, Iora is already in bed asleep, damp hair wrapped in a towel. Fenian comes back a few minutes after you, just before it could get dark, as Alice shakes Iora awake.
"Here we go, everyone!" Alice unwraps a small package. "I figured it wasn't really worth dividing up the few coins we earned today, so I used it and got us a little cake thing instead! And I wasn't really sure everyone's favorite flavors, so I just picked the local specialty. It's called an iced creamcake or something like that...?"
"Hm... It looks edible," Fenian says. "But cold. Is it supposed to be frozen?"
"Apparently?"
"Ooooohhhhh..." Iora sits up, staring hungrily at the cake. "It looks delicious..."

Rishan, Colette, Darius, Jake
Rishan arrives back at the dormitories shortly after the remedial classes let out. Morale seems to be low. Colette takes the books Rishan had collected. "Thank you... Was there any trouble?"
