After dinner, you all proceed to the right of the main hall, through a short cave, and find the dormitories. A few rooms open from the walls, though only four are labeled. Each has four large beds, made and ready to use, as well as a storage chest and even a small desk with a flickering candle. At the end of the hall, two large rooms seem to be set up as bathrooms, though neither is marked. You all check the labels and head into your rooms.
Room 1
Misha, Ray, Erin, Balthazar
Erin walks in and tosses her cloak and hat aside and leans against her bed. "It looks like they decided to jam all the best students in one group, huh?"
"Hm." Balthazar shrugs.
Erin's tail slides out of her belt and starts flicking about. She grins. "I'm just joking. You do know what a joke is?"
"I am aware, yes, but I'm not here to be a comedian." Balthazar opens his chest and starts stacking his clothes neatly. "Not that what you said needs to be a joke."
"Oh?"
"Sure. Maybe if you all work hard enough you can get on my level."
Erin's tail snaps as she slams it onto the bed with a thud. "Is that so."
Room 2
Fenian, Iora, Cantrelle, Alice
Iora walks in and immediately falls face-first onto her bed, letting her robe go slack and sandals slide off. It definitely looks like she's not wearing much of anything under it...
Fenian rubs the chest. "Interesting... Surprisingly well-made." He glances at the desk, then the bed. "Ah, even some pieces from Ervue. Lovely."
"Uh-huh. You can stay here and get all touchy-feely with the furniture, but it's been a long day with lotsa walking and I'm going to end it with a bath before bed!"
"Mmm... Sounds nice..." Iora mumbles, face buried in the covers. "Have fun without me..."
Alice walks up and jabs her. "Nope! You're coming. And Cantrelle, too! Give me a hand with this?"
"I bathed in the fountain..." Iora whines, kicking as Alice stands by her bed and repeatedly pokes at her foot. "No-o-o-o-o..."
"A bath sounds very nice, actually. Enjoy yourselves." Fenian ignores everything going on, walks down the hall, and enters one of the bathrooms.
Room 3
Rachael, Gwen, Hero,
Gwen looks at her bed, hand on her hip. She lets out a huff, then starts grabbing and clawing at the sheets and shredding the pillows, creating a small circular nest in the center of the bed.
"I am unsure if it's acceptable to make such changes to the facilities," Hero says.
"Well I'm sure this groundling bed isn't acceptable for a harpy to sleep in!" Gwen growls.
Hero frowns. "I... do emphasize. Most beds aren't designed with beastmen in mind. But should you not at least obtain permission?"
Gwen ignores him and continues creating a nest.
Room 4
Rishan, Colette, Darius, Indy
Inside the room, Darius opens the chest and starts unpacking a small rucksack filled with some simple clothing similar to what he was wearing as well as a few packs of dried food. "Alright, that should just 'bout do it fer me..." He turns and looks at the rest of you. "Er... Uh..."
Colette, arms full of clothing, continues loading her chest without looking up. "You are uncomfortable sharing a room with a woman," she says softly.
"Ah... Yeah, well, maybe a li'l..."
"Your concern is unnecessary." Colette takes a seat at the desk, takes out a book, and starts reading.
"If yer... sure..." Darius says.

Ray glares at Balthazar, then glances at Erin.
"She has a point, you know?
I mean... I'm a Talos. I won't pretend my name makes it so I'm the best mage around, I'm here to learn after all so I can work to help animated armors find magic treasures to put in the vault so Rogue mages don't get them, but my point is...
Who even are you, dude?"

Misha quietly puts her few belongings in her chest, takes off her coat and folds it on the bed, then looks at Erin and the other two.
"... We're all going to need to try to get along. We're going to be here for a while. And we're all new mages. So knock off the arrogant crap. Both of you. It's annoying. We'll naturally find out who's the strongest during the course of our studies."
She hops up on her bed. "Another thing. I don't know you two yet. Until we get to know each other and I can trust you, Erin's and my side of the room is our side of the room. You try anything funny when we're sleeping, and I'll kill you. Understand?"

Racheal takes puts away her belongings and quietly looks at what Gwen was doing. Racheal just shrugs her shoulders. Before laying on the bed and staring at the ceiling.
"It's fine Hero,". "Not that she needs our permission to be comfy,". "If anything comes of it's not our problem,". "By the way what's it like where you guys come from?". "Since we are going to be roomies,". "Can't hurt to learn a little something about each other,". "If you want," Racheal asks.

Ray seems startled by Misha's comment, taking a few steps back.
"Nothing better to build trust than death threats, am I right.
Don't worry, I'm not a creep... I don't trust people either... Personal reasons...
That's actually why I'm really forcing trying to know who I'll be working with...
Sorry about that.
Still, it's not about strenght, but collaboration, right?"
Ray scratches his head.
"Are we really going with delimiting our dorm? If that's the term you all want to go with, then so be it."

Misha seems to soften a bit as she starts to untie her boot laces. "...Sorry. Force of habit. I don't do too well around types with big family names, especially those who like to throw them around. And general arrogance annoys me. Wonder if that's the reason they threw us in together, put us in with a mix of people we get along with and others we won't..."

Indy throws his packs into a corner of his area, taking out a few things and lazily tossing them onto the bed. "it aint a big deal. if i were you id be more intimidated by my charming presence. it can be overwhelming at times, i know, but i assure you this'll be quite the comfortable arrangement. just dont overthink it, dude."

Cantrelle looks closely at one of the Ervue-made pieces of furniture as well, clearly impressed.
“I know, right? I thought this was just a realistic fake at first, but this is definitely the real deal. Hm?”
She’s distracted by Alice’s request for aid, quickly going over to help.
“Yeah, we could probably all do with a good bath. A dip in the fountain probably isn’t enough... Or legal, come to think of it. You kept the robe on, riiiiiight?”

Room 1
Misha, Ray, Erin, Balthazar
Balthazar shrugs. "I don't give a damn about my family name. Any rookie mage who comes in thinking their lineage is going to mean a thing is a walking time bomb. Just a question whether they'll get themselves hurt or someone else. So, yeah, I'm not here for funny business."
"Oh, well aren't we serious." Erin smirks. "Make sure you don't get your head so far up your own ass you can't verbalize spells."
Balthazar stares for a moment, then nods. "Yeah. That's not bad advice, either."
Room 2
Fenian, Iora, Cantrelle, Alice
"Hmmmm...? Of co-o-o-o-ourse, I can't take off my robe..." Iora mutters. "Well I can, but not in public, I'd be in so much trouble with Grandma...!"
Alice, having paused long enough for Iora to answer, resumes her incessant poking. "All the more reason for you to come with us, right? Right? Or do I have to keep poking you?"
"No-o-o-o-o..." Iora repeats softly. "Fine, kicking is ha-a-a-ard. You wi-i-i-in."
Alice grins and gives one last sharp jab. "Good!" A few minutes later, standing in front of the line of showers in the bathroom, Alice is drooping.
"What were you expecting...?" Iora asks.
"A large bath we could unwind in..." Alice admits.
"No-o-o-o-ope. Maybe we'll go up to the mountain lake and swim together sometime..." Iora yawns, then walks in still wearing her robe.
Room 3
Rachael, Gwen, Hero,
"I was referring to permission from the school's administrators..." Hero groans. He shakes his head and starts circling on his own bed. "Today might not be the best day for long introductions... I may only speak for myself, but I'm exhausted. Though as for where I am from, it's a large forest, Bour, in the southwest of Lanilla. There are many beastman tribes, ours is one of the smaller ones... I could spend hours boring you with politics, but I assure you your dreams would be far more entertaining."
Gwen settles into what for any of you would be an extremely awkward position, making a few last adjustments to her nest. She tilts her head up with pride. "Ha. Gwen's tribe, the strongest of them all! Rulers of-" she squawks something in a language none of you can understand, much less repeat "-what you Groundlings call the Thunder Mountain!" She lets out a horrid, screeching laugh.
Room 4
Rishan, Colette, Darius, Indy
Darius laughs nervously. "Y-you're right. I admit I'm a bit nervous, I ain't really... y'know, done anything like this before. Ain't really been far from my village before, so... sharin' a room with some total strangers feels a bit strange."
"...You get used to it." Colette doesn't look up from her book.
"Oh, um... Y'sure? Well, thanks for the vote o' confidence." Darius starts to take his shirt off, then stops. "I, uh... 'scuse me." He grabs a nightgown from his clothes and runs out of the room and towards the bathrooms.
Colette glances up, then turns the page. "Do not wait up on my account. I can read in another room."

Indy shrugs. "Ah, he seems like the cute shy type. eh, we'll be here for a bit at least so aint no point in stressing over dumb biz like that." He unceremoniously kicks off his shoes, throws off his shirt, and kicks out of his pants, sliding into bed.
"so whatddya think of all this so far," he says to no one in particular while staring at the ceiling.

Alice sighs and mutters under her breath. "Yeah, a magic school..."
Everyone
The next day comes too soon, and with it the first day of classes. Everyone meets the professors in the main hall, and they split you into smaller groups.

WEEK 1 DAY OFF
Misha, Ray, Erin, Balthazar
By the time you're all waking up, Erin is already getting dressed. "Alright, we're still going up to the lake, right Misha?"
"The lake? Up on the mountain?" Balthazar asks.
"Yeah. We're racing up there."
"Hm. Have fun with that. And be careful. Not only is it cold, the air's thin. You'll wear out a lot faster than you think."
"Oh, perfect. Gives me an advantage. You ready to go, Misha? Or are you having second thoughts?"
Room 2
Fenian, Iora, Cantrelle, Alice
Alice is the first to wake up, practically springing out of bed. "Alright, everyone! Up and at 'em."
"Kaaaaay," Iora says. She rubs her eyes, then rolls out of bed, already in her cloak.
"Wait, really? I thought you'd say something about wanting to spend your day off resting."
"No-o-o-o-ope. I wanna go see the lake..." Iora says. She slips into her sandals and makes for the door.
"That's a bit of a hike, are you sure?" Alice calls after her.
"Yep..." Iora waves as she leaves.
"Well... Iora seems oddly motivated," Alice says. "We-"
"I am going to go investigate the forest in more detail," Fenian says. "Have a nice day!" He leaves behind her.
"Oh. Well!" Alice claps her hands together and turns to Cantrelle. "At least we've still got the two of us. Wanna go grab breakfast and then see what trouble we can get into together?"
Room 3
Rachael, Gwen, Hero,
Gwen wakes everyone up as she loudly gets ready in the morning. She starts to leave without saying anything.
"Excuse me," Hero mutters, still half-asleep. He shakes his head and seems to snap into alertness immediately. "Miss Gwen, could you please inform me of your plans for the day?"
"Why?"
"So that in case of some abnormality, such as you returning late, I will be able to-"
"Ugh. Stupid Groundling. I grew up in these mountains. There's nothing that I need to worry about. I'm going flying."
Room 4
Rishan, Colette, Darius, Indy
"So... What's everyone gettin' up to today?" Darius asks.
"Reading." Colette is already hunched over her desk.
"Oh... You don't want to... go explore the city or something?" he asks.
"No..." She flips the page.
"Ah... Well... Alright, then." Darius rubs the back of his neck. "Y'sure?"
Nod.
"Alright, well... Ya'll don't feel like y'need to come. Maybe I'll go Miss Alice or someone?"

Ray seems to be in a state of thinking for a few seconds.
"We should take advantage of the time they give us to take fresh air and I wouldn't mind seeing the sights on top of that mountain...
Mind if I join in?
I'd understand if it's a girl's day or something, I don't want to force my presence on you two."
