The next day, after a light breakfast, you head to the main hall and wait. Quentin arrives to bring you to the arena one after the other. But every time, he turns off to the side and leads you out of the school, down the stairs, then to the path leading up the mountain to the lake.
Phoebe is waiting at the base of the trail, smiling and waving. "Hi, hi! You all ready for your exam? It's really simple! Niamh is waiting further up the trail. The two of you are to escort the poor, defenseless, sweet, cute, adorable, bea-uti-ful young lady up to safety. You'll be dealing with this sort of thing from time to time, getting dragged around by important people. Well, good luck!"
Misha
"Oh, great. Heading up the mountain again. Wait, how are we supposed to stay and watch the other groups here...?" Erin asks.
"Plenty of trees to choose from," Phoebe says. "Or wait with Niamh."
The three of you continue up the mountain. When you're just in sight of Niamh, a humanoid figure leaps out of one of the trees nearby, landing on the trail in front of you. Another walks out of bushes ahead and to the side.
Erin jumps back in surprise, then takes a fighting stance. Then she turns around in surprise as she spots a third figure behind you. "Surrounded...!?"
Indy, Rishan
As you make your way up the trail, Phoebe whistles loudly to herself. The whistling drowns out the sound so you don't notice until it's dangerously close: the footsteps on the trail behind you. Two cloaked people notice you've spotted them and break into a run, knives at the ready.
Rachael
"This is a nice test!" Alice says, hands behind her head, casually strolling up the path. "Much better than that dank ol' cave. I didn't get to go to the lake before, maybe if we're most of the way there I'll just go ahead and go after the test? Oh, but I didn't bring a bathing suit. Eh, probably too cold for swimming anyw-"
Halfway up the path, two figures come running around a turn in the path ahead, charging down at you. A third figure emerges from behind a tree beside you and dashes straight at Alice.
Selfless, Cantrelle
Phoebe looks at you and nods. "Phew! I've already made a few trips, so I'm getting tired. Ready?"
As soon as you signal you're ready to start the test, three figures jump out of a nearby bush and leap at you.

You and Darius begin taking Pheobe up the mountain. Near the end of the trip, you spot a small box off to the side of the road. "Oh, what's this?" Phoebe asks. She walks over and stoops down to investigate. A throwing knife embeds itself into a tree behind her, right where she had been a moment before. Phoebe looks up and pokes the knife. "Oh, that's not good."
Two figures emerge from the bushes beside the trail and start approaching. A third, perched on a low tree branch, readies another throwing knife.

Cantrelle sidesteps the left assailant’s attack, whistling as a rock lifts off the ground and launches itself towards the right assailant’s temple courtesy of Telekinetic Shot.

Misha will immediately cast Flash, and then dart forward and kick their legs out from under them while the two assailants in the front are blinded. "Erin, keep calm. Use Nightshroud on the one in front of you, then we rush past and stop their progress with Tangleroot."

Ray will concentrate on the throwing knife as it is thrown and uses Knock on it to deflect it.

"U-uh, yeah, I got this!" Darius calls out. He casts Flash. The two charging assassins slow down.
As the tree-bound assailant throws his knife, you cast Knock on it. The knife shudders and goes spiraling wildly before embedding itself in a tree a few feet to the side.
Darius runs up at one of the dazed assailants, reels back, and slugs her in the face. He grimaces as her hood falls down. "Oh! Er, sorry, miss, but... uh..." She rubs her cheek and turns to face him instead of Phoebe. He puts his hands up like a brawler. The one in the tree rubs his eyes, unable to aim. The last shakes his head and keeps moving, slower, towards their target.
Misha
"Yeah, got it!" Erin casts Nightshroud on the one behind you, shifting the cloud as he moves forward. He slows to a crawl, carefully feeling his way forward.
You Flash the two in front of you and run up to attack. You kick one's legs out from under her and she falls over, hard. The other jumps back as you charge. From the way he's wincing he doesn't seem to be able to see very well, other than a figure that had been rushing at him. He holds his knife up defensively.
Erin grabs Phoebe's wrist and drags her forward, running towards the two of you. The third starts to fall behind.
Indy, Rishan
As a flash lights up, the attackers wince. One trips. Another covers her eyes and keeps running forward, slower and off-balance. She pauses for a moment in the nightshroud. The third, however, keeps charging forward, wildly swinging his knife. The first is still busy picking himself up.

Selfless, Cantrelle
The middle assailant snaps into place as something latches around his ankle. He pauses, dropping back and stabbing at the plant, leaving him exposed for a moment.
Cantrelle sweeps to the side and the second attacker doesn't make much of an effort to stab her. She lobs a rock at the third attacker. It pings off his head with a sharp thud. He grabs his head and staggers backwards.
The second readies a knife and attacks Phoebe. She squeaks and ducks, the slash going just over her head. "Eep! Help."
The first assailant has his ankle free almost immediately, but the third is still reeling from the rock.

“Huh, either that’s a really convincing prop or you might be making this test a little too realistic... Either way, can’t have you just swinging that around like that!”
With a high pitched whistle, Cantrelle uses Spark on the knife wielder’s hand in an attempt to make them drop their weapon.

At the same time, Selfless does a running dropkick at Assailant #3.
