Ray

"Um... Sorry, no," Oscar says. "We need to clear the path to set up again. Come on, up you go. The healing magic will make it stop hurting in another minute or two."

"Bye-bye, escorts! I need to go pick up the next group!" Phoebe skips along back down the trail.

Darius helps you up and you make your way to the end, finding Niamh waiting with Misha and Erin.

Erin gives you both a wave as you approach. "Hey! Looks like another group passed. Good."


Indy, Rishan

Rishan drops back and fires another Flash before moving in again.  The two assailants back away from each other, unwilling to go slamming into each other again.  They seem to be getting used to the Flash trick by now and shake it off much faster this time.

Indy, meanwhile, moves back and tries using Spark again.

Phobe slides to a stop, turns, and yells at you.  "O-o-o-o-o-o K!  That's enough.  You pass.  No need to keep beating on the assistants.  An-y-way.  Good work!"


Selfless, Cantrelle

Selfless distracts the assailant advancing on Phoebe and wrapping around his neck.  He looks at the Flutterlight, looking up and putting him in perfect position to grab.  You quickly wrestle him to the ground until he stops moving.

The one trying to tackle Cantrelle corrects for her sidestep surprisingly well, but still gets clipped by the Tangleroot.  The force of his charge carries him loose from the plant but throws him off balance well enough that he trips and skips to a stop in front of Phoebe.

Phoebe grins and plants her foot on the back of his head.  She looks at the disabled fighters with a nod. "Annnnnd I'd say that's a pass! Yep, efficient. Right after my own heart, really."

A drop of blood drips from Cantrelle's finger. Ow.

Oscar pops up from a bush nearby.  "Oh, dear.  You two made quite a lot of work for me..." He starts tending to one with some kind of healing magic, glancing over at Cantrelle. "They'll be needing their knife back, please. Sorry, no souvenirs."

Rishan begins applying pressure to their stab wound "I was planning on scattering into the forest at the next possible opportunity anyways" they say matter of factly

"Yeah... I knew this was fake, so I tested something... It went very wrong, but at least I know Soul Heat has no possible creative purposes to use as against an opponent... I mean. On an opponent.

Darius is one hell of a fighter though, that's for sure!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd like to spectate Iora and Balthazar's take, they said we could watch others when we were done, right?"

Selfless stands still awkwardly.

"There is no danger? ...Very well."

“Brutal but effective”, Cantrelle replies with a smirk. “And as long as it works, that’s what’s really important right?”

Everyone but Rachael

You continue to watch Balthazar and Iora.  Balthazar stays at the front, fighting against the incoming enemies.  With one stunned, he ferociously attacks the other two.  Meanwhile, Iora's Nightshroud continues to hover in place.

By the time the two manage to overwhelm Balthazar, force past him, and go to investigate, the darkness disappears.  No one is there.  Iora and Phoebe reappear out of the forest a few moments later and declare it a pass.

Fenian and Hero have a very similar strategy, if a bit more violent.  Hero goes charging at the enemies and scatters them, while Fenian stays by Phoebe and guards against anyone that slips through.  They manage to take down all three of the enemies.

Gwen and Collette have a very different experience from all the others.  Gwen flies ahead of Collette and Phoebe, circling back and warning them of the attackers up ahead.  Phoebe stays back in a bush while Collette sneaks through the forest, circles around the enemy, and ambushes the ambushers while Gwen attacks them from the front.

The last group to cross are Alice and Rachael.  By the time they start, Rishan and Ray's injuries have healed to the point they're barely noticeable, even to themselves.  Everyone watches in Niamh's scrying glass while the group makes its way up.  And when the assassins attack, Alice is quick to run to meet them.  She manages to kick one, sending them tripping into a Tanglevine before she twirls around and stomps on their chest.

But Rachael freezes up.  While Alice tries to deal with one of the remaining pair, the other slips past and stabs Phoebe in the neck.  Not deep, but enough to produce a drop of blood.  "And, that would be a fail," the assassin says.  He twirls his knife before putting it away while Oscar comes out to check on the one with the broken ribs.

A few minutes later, Phoebe, Alice, and Rachael arrive at the end of the trail.  Niamh looks at everyone and nods.  "And that is the end of the first test...  Very well done, yes, very well indeed...  Most of you passed.  Almost all of you, in fact."

"Only one group failed, actually!" Phoebe says.  "Really good for so early in the year!"

"...Oh."  Alice slumps over.

"Aw, don't be sad!  That just means you get to spend more time with me tomorrow!  A-a-a-a-a-all day!" Phoebe smiles.

"Yay..."

Oscar and the three 'assassins' make their way up the path and join you.  Hartmann lowers her hood, then flips it back up, then flips it back up, playing with it as if it were a hat.  The other two assassins keep their hoods up, but on closer examination you don't recognize either of them.

Hero seems shocked.  "Um, Professor?  But you-"

"Simple disguise spell.  Did you think we'd overlook masking scent?" Hartmann doesn't even look over, still focused on the hood.  She finally stops flipping it and focuses on everyone.  "Right.  Alice, Rachael.  Report to the main hall.  The rest of you are free until Monday morning.  Dismissed."
