Attack, and when she goes for a headbonk use the usual upwards pointed counter.

You attack Goombella as she tries to run past you to get her book back.
Goombella: "Yeah... I didn't really think you'd fall for that."
Goombella seems weak.

Continue keeping her away from her book and countering headbonks.

Goomba winks at the audience right next to you. You attack her, as she is launched into oblivion.
"GAME!!!"
The rest area and the portal appears.
M: "Before you move on, I want you to know that with your current setup, your next opponent will offer a considerable difficulty spike. You might want to at least put on some armor."

Alright, put some armor on. I'll go with a Padded Plate (+4 Defense, +1 Magic Defense), a Pilgrim's Hat (P.DEF +1, M. DEF +2, M.ATK +1), a Buckler (P.DEF +3, M.DEF +2, Evade +20), and Gloves (P. DEF +1). That's a complete set of helmet, armor, shield, and accessory. I'll also see if my job level has gone up yet, the level 2 skill Stalwart Aurochs could help keep me in the fight longer.

(Yeah, I think it would be legit for you to have reached level 2. And I'm pretty sure it will help in the next fight.)
Fighter: mrfuzz111 Equipment: Basic Sword Armor: Full set of armor Consumables: Potions (3 for each fight)
---STAGE 3: VS Glomglom---
You appear in some kind of small village. There's a Toad House and a bigger house with a Goomba family specatating inside. Actually, Goombario is there...
Your opponent is some kind of fat Goomba with a green hat.
Glomglom: "Huff... Huff... I'll do my best!"
M: "3...
2...
1...
GO!"

Assume the Stalwart Aurochs stance, holding my sword and shield in front of me while pointing the former down towards the ground. This boosts defense and magic defense until another stance is assumed (and in fact ten turns afterwards thanks to the Muscle Memory ability the job innately has).

You put your shield forward blocking a slow charge from Glomglom. Your shield stops him right in front of you as he seems to be catching his breath.

Attack. If possible, try to knock the Lollipop out of his hand since iirc that thing can grant him buffs.

You attack Glomglom, as he takes a lollipop out. You knock it out of his hand, startling him.

Continue attacking while he's startled, and keep knocking away anything he pulls out.

You attack Glomglom as he jumps, but that doesn't stop him. He headbonks you. That's powerful enough for you to be knocked on your back on the ground.
You feel like that would have hurt a lot without your armor. Glomglom seems exhausted by his Headbonk.

Get up and go for an attack. If he tries to headbonk, sidestep it as I don't think an upturned sword will be enough to stop him.

You jump up and attack Glomglom while he catches his breath. He seems t9 want to try to put distance between you and him now.

Glomglom eats a lollipop...
This is a normal lollipop and it has no effect.
