Racheal just looks towards the head mistress and doesn't have any questions.

Cantrelle replies to Alice’s claim of a rivalry with a playful smirk. “You’re on.” As the headmistress enters, however, she looks back forward towards the front of the room. She takes a moment to consider if she wants to ask any questions, but can’t think of any at the moment.

Everyone
Professor Hartmann starts to answer when a knock comes from the door. A pair of new arrivals are standing at the doorway.
The first, taking the lead, is a muscular man covered in a thin layer of orange-and-black striped fur. His chest is bare, but he keeps a thick cape tied around his back. His pants look simply made and cheap in comparison, and the toe of his boots open to reveal sharp claws. He clears his throat. "My, ah, apologies," he says tersely. "I had some trouble with my credentials and the town guard. It was my fault, I did not expect them to be so... thorough."
The girl behind him peeks around his shoulder and waves. Hair that shifts between different hues of blue drapes across her shoulders. She's dressed in a plain grey-and-brown robe that covers most of her body. "Hi-i-i-i-i, Headmistress Hartmann, right?"
A nod.
Her smile widens. "Sorry I'm late. I couldn't find my robe..."
The headmistress narrows her eyes.
"Oh, no, I didn't lose it. See, my little sister found out I was leaving, and she got upset, so she hid it and just would not tell anyone where it was. And... y'know."
Hartmann, with clear practice, hides an annoyed sigh. "Yes, I can see that being a problem. Both of you take a seat."
Indy Strittiker, Selfless
You arrive at the main hall well after the others. You find an elderly looking woman in a large robe, a man in heavy, grey full-body armor, and a middle-aged woman in a miniskirt with tall boots waiting outside.
"Ah, you're almost late!" the one with the miniskirt says. She makes a flapping motion with her hands towards the door to the main hall. "Run, run! Before the headmistress gets cross!"
You walk inside to find a young-looking woman in a fur-lined coat standing at the front of a cozy lecture hall. Some notes written on the board explain about schedules and such. A group of fourteen others is sitting in cushioned chairs, stacked in rows, all looking at you.
There's open seats by a simply dressed harpy perched in the highest seat, a guy in a very dark outfit, and two others who also seem to be just taking their seats. That explains the hurried footsteps you heard on the stairs above you as you ran up. One is a blue-haired girl with a soft smile. She sets her shell-decorated sandals aside and curls her legs up beneath her as she sits. The other is serious-looking muscular beastman with stiped ears, who pauses to fluff his pillow before sitting on it.
Everyone
While the Headmistress waits for you to take a seat, she continues. "I was just explaining the schedule you will be following and taking questions. The notes are on the board, or you can confirm the details with the others later."
"Where was I..." She takes her hat off, holds it a moment, then returns it to her head. "Ah, yes. The question. How free you are on the weekend. You are free to do what you like so long as it does not violate laws. You are expected to be back, rested, and prepared for class by the first of the week, which leaves you only a day and a half. In practice, you will most likely be limited to the town and nearby wilderness. Fortunately, Valorwind is a bustling city with plenty for people to do."
Blue-hair raises her hand and receives a nod. "We can visit the lake up the mountain?"
"Yes. Any last questions before we proceed?"

Ray raises his hand, then asks his question.
"Excuse me, headmistress... At the risk of getting ahead of myself, I assume many activities will require currency, as well as research funds or obtaining the right material from the market.
We are only students however, so I was wondering how much support we will have to be "free" on the economic side of things..."

Indy nonchalantly walks over to sit next to the big tough beastman guy near the entrance. He raises his eyebrows and then slouches in the chair, arms wide, to watch the presentation.

Misha stays quiet at first, watching the new people enter and sizing them up. She raises her hand after Ray's question. Her voice is quiet, but not shy. She speaks calmly.
"Will we have dorm rooms here, ma'am? And if so, will they be singular rooms or will we have a roommate?"

Everyone
Hartmann shifts to hold her arms behind her back, looking almost bored. "You will have a room as well as ready access to scheduled meals. In addition, you will receive a small weekly allowance to spend as you wish. It is not particularly sizable, but it's sufficient to purchase extra clothing..." - she glances at Erin - "snacks" - she glances at the the beastman - "or simply amuse yourself. When I was a student, I visited the theaters most weekends. As for research expenditures such as special reagents, you are able to file for them on a case-by-case basis. As students, you will be provided with common materials and this is very unlikely to be a concern." Hartmann nods to herself. "As for roommates, you will be assigned to a room of four for the time being and moved to smaller rooms later in the semester."
Hartmann glances around in case of more questions.

As a pall of silence falls over the room, it's swiftly broken by the sound of heavy, meandering footsteps. As they draw to a halt, the door is gently opened and a wholly robed, reaper-like figure enters the room, Selfless, giving Hartmann a swift bow.
"It was not realised that there was a difference between instruction halls. Staff was required to redirect. Apologies are due."
Without further word, the seat next to the red-haired harpy is taken, allowing for no other students to have their view obstructed by Sefless' large frame.

Indy
The beastman looks at Indy. "Ah... Yes, hello. Greetings." He nods, then goes back to watching the lecture.
Selfless
The harpy watches you like a hawk as you approach and sit next to her. She looks up at you, with visible annoyance. "...Groundling," she mutters in a quiet greeting.
Everyone
Hartmann waits a moment to see if there are any other questions. "Now then. As I mentioned before, each week our professors will be teaching different spells. Learning a spell takes time and dedication. No mage can know everything. You will each be responsible for deciding what magic to learn and what to ignore in order to become the type of mage you want to be. In the future, spells will require significant investment to learn. Of course, this is only your first week so we have prepared simple, introductory, and generally useful spells. We will go into more detail about creating a proper schedule at the next full class meeting. For this week, you'll just need to decide which two of the four spells to learn. You may be novices, but we did select each of you for a reason and this should be well within each of your abilities. Now then... Yes. Right. The professors will introduce themselves and the spells they will be teaching this week."
Four others take this as their cue to enter, walking to join the headmistress standing at the front of the room.
"Hello, everyone." The old woman that was waiting outside is the first to speak. "I am professor Niamh Mani, a Wizard. I teach the Blue magic spells you will learn."
A younger man with short, brown hair, a white beret, and round spectacles steps forward. He wears a green vest with khaki pants. "Oscar Smith, the resident Witch." He smiles warmly. "You'll come to me to learn Gold magic."
The middle-aged of the three women is next. Long, blue hair contrasts her bright pink outfit, complete with a miniskirt and knee-high boots. "Hello! Hi! Pheobe Bryant, but you can call me Pheobe. And I'm a magical girl! But, my specialty and my passion is Red magic!"
Last is the one in heavy, full-body armor. The grey blends in with the stone. "Quentin Wallace. Mage Knight. White magic."
"Now that you've all introduced yourselves, please detail the spells you will be teaching this weak." Hartmann is back to examining her hat. She picks a small piece of lint from it, lighting it on fire with her fingertip, then goes back to examining it.
Niamh nods. "Summon: Flutterlight." She holds out her hand and a small glowing orb appears. It begins to float into the air, then hover over her shoulder. "This is the most simple of all summoning spells. Flutterlights are weak, nearly defenseless, and safe for novices who may lose control of their summoned creature to practice controlling another creature. About all they can do is glow, which has its uses at times. Aside from the obvious of lighting dark areas, they're often used for sending signals..."
Oscar is up next, adjusting his glasses with the same smile as before. "I'll be going over an old favorite of mine, simple, easy-to-learn and easy-to-use. Knock." He points at the chalk board and it shakes with a loud bang. "Make loud noises somewhere you aren't. It also rattles small objects. Don't expect to launch them in the direction you want, but something like a stubborn door will usually respond well."
Phoebe practically skips to the front when it's her turn. "Sometimes, all you need is a spark! It's not a cool fireball or an explosion, and it's not really all that effective against flesh. It does hurt." She points at Oscar, who yelps and slaps his leg.
"Ow! Phoebe!"
"But it's not really great for fighting. We'll get into some stuff like that once we can be sure you'll reliably set the OTHER person on fire first!"
Wallace steps forward. His armor glows for a moment, then shines brighter and brighter. It seems to explode with radiant light, and several members of the audience gasp. A few start rubbing their eyes. Even the toughest flinch, except for the demon. She just narrows her eyes slightly. "Flash. Bright. Simple. Surprising. Creates openings. Won't always work." He glances at Erin. "But has its uses."
Hartmann steps forward again, inspecting her hat before flipping it onto her head, where it lands at an awkward angle. "A final word of warning before you all make your decisions. The not-so-secret secret mages try to hide from the public. Magic is, of course, dangerous. Not only to others and the environment, but to the user as well. Overuse of magic causes unpredictable damage to the body. Attempting to use overly powerful spells can cause immediate damage, while overusing magic in general tends to cause more subtle effects. Some of you may have heard this in the past and assumed it as a rumor. It is not. Case in point, myself and Professor Mani are the same age."
The gnarled hag waves calmly. "I'm actually a few months younger, but who's counting..."
"The reasons for this damage are more advanced theory and not worth delving into until later in your studies. Introductory magic is safe enough, but some of you may experience the effects more rapidly or find them more noticeable than others. If any of you want to back out with this new knowledge, you may do so privately in my office until the morning. Otherwise, select your spells and then you are free to explore the town this evening. Questions?"

Misha raises her hand. "If we already know which spell we want to learn, should we say so now?"

Everyone
"Ah, yes..." Hartmann turns to the board, writing out everyone's names and leaving space to fill in their choices before leaving some sticks of chalk on the desk. "You are welcome to ask questions of the professors as well, though we'll go into more details about each specialty in the 3rd class meeting."

Misha stands up and walks to the chalk board. She writes "Flash, Mage Knight" and "Spark, Magical Girl" by her name.
She goes to sit back down by Erin. She's quiet for a moment, then says, "...Would you like help looking for warmer clothes around town?"

"Hmmm" Rishan seems troubled as she contemplates the choices before mumbling something under her breath with a shrug and walking up to the board jotting down Flash and Summon: Flutterlight before returning to her seat from which she watches the board with naked interest
